Yeah, Magnus was great. Only things he needed were ankle tilts and better hands.william-james88 wrote:o.supreme wrote:Just like the Leaders, or some of the Legends Class that had no integration in the CW line, had no interest in them either.
I highly recomend that Magnus, he is a fun figure with a smart transormation.
Noideaforaname wrote:The Cosmos thing is weird because we don't really ever get straight re-releases. Not for tail-enders, not for troopbuilders, not even for perennial favorites.
I'd have liked a repaint, myself. Something gunmetal grey like a stereotypical flying saucer (tho Cosmos echos the UFOs from the old Mars Attacks! cards, which is just delightful!), maybe using that Scrounge head for extra B-movie alien robot-ness. But hey, more Cosmos is never a bad thing. Hope this version actually casts the head in red instead of just painting it...

I agree. It's just that I like my collection to stick with its theme. I thought Legends Warpath looked great too, but I cant have everything, so I am going to stick with the combiners which got me started (and in the case of TR, -Leaders, Legends (that interact with the leaders), and Titan Masters. The very rare exception is Thrilling 30's Jetfire, which I haven't got yet, but just because I really really like that character.
It's probably why I was out of collecting for 10 years. The thrilling 30's line had a lot of great toys, but it was kind of all-over-the-place for me. I'm weird when it comes to numbers, themes etc... I mean the deciding factor of why I started collecting Alternators when they came out was because each one was numbered (kind of like the original series released by Takara)
In fact its probably a good ting I don't live in Japan. I know they've since dropped it, but for the longest time, up through CR at least, every toy they released was specifically numbered, there was something about that which drew me in.

Overlord looks awesome and will be mine. Tidal wave looks ok. Better in boat mode. Interesting they went with toon purple and not toy green. Clones look good. What size are they? Look a bit simple. Delta magnus prime whatever is just ginrai? Most interesting. Will this mean hasbro godbomber can combine? Or will we have to go takara?
Quickswitch is pass. Octane looks much better in alt modes than prime. Nautica is a pass. I probably would have been more interested if she was anyone other than blurr.
And who is in which boxset? Is there only two or will more be coming?
Speed = Quickswitch, Laser Prime, Nautica, Fastlane, Rodimus
Strength = Magnus Prime, Tidal Wave, Metalhawk, Pounce, Thunderwing
Pounce and Fastlane don't exactly belong to any pre-existing side class; they're their own special thing between Legends and Deluxe.
We've no word at all on a God Bomber/Iron Apex/whatever release from Hasbro.
An interview with John Warden confirms that there will be at least two more boxsets, which will contain one of the two remaining clones (Wingspan and Cloudraker) each. But that's all we know about potential upcoming sets aside from Speed and Strength.
By the by, since there seems to be four sets and the first two are Speed and Strength... anyone else think the other ones will be Intelligence and Firepower?

Wait, what!? When did they say this? So much for "not splitting up teams anymore."

All I wanted was Repugnus & Shuffler today, maybe Kup, Percy or Topspin if I saw 'em....6S ended my hunt due to his price tag.

Was this a Target in the US?

Yes!! Portland, Oregon!

For Firepower? Kup redecoed as Crosshairs. And I'd almost bet "Pinpointer" becomes "Pinhead".

Maybe next year? Buzzsaw was released in Combiner Wars, and I haven't seen straight redecos in Legends Class which he, Eject and Frenzy are.

Juuust to be pedantic, I'll point out that Eject could have a new headsculpt compared to Rewind depending on what they go for. Sometimes he has a visor and faceplate (like Rewind), sometimes he has a visor and mouth, sometimes a faceplate and eyes... he's all over the place really. But even if they did go for visor and faceplate he doesn't have Rewind's camera.

Good point, but for the sake of argument:

It's not unprecedented.

Here, I voiced my disappointment with Nautica and recieved a mixture of opinions, but all polite and constructive.
Meanwhile, over on Allspark, I made known my dislike of their attempt at a Nautica (specifically how it didn't resemble the character that well) and all I got was a bunch of people whining at me that there was nothing wrong with it, how it would be considered awesome if it had been a BotCon release, and how I should be grateful Hasbro were making one at all.
So please, Seibertron, carry on being awesome.

I feel ya, she was likely the most anticipated figure and was a huge let down (this coming from someone who didn't care about her...)

Considering that I wanted everything else in the box set, I would have gotten her anyway.SureShot18 wrote:The thing is she is just terribly OK. I think if she was single carded I'd get her because I really like the character but the fact that she's in a box set of figures I have no interest means I won't bother. My standards for my IDW figures are getting rather high lately.

Qwan wrote: Magnificus, in my mind, is absolutely perfect in every way for one of these boxsets: easy repaint/re-head with no real "important character have to buy it" clout but plenty of collector appeal, and a sort of 'premium' feel to him; in my mind he's a very similar sort of thing to Metalhawk in that regard.
