Wolfman Jake wrote:william-james88 wrote:So you end up with the same cockpit section twice in a row, it looks dumb as all hell.
Octane fares better especially since that plane now has a uniform white scheme which works, and he also has some retooling. though I find it odd, isnt he supposed to have purple squares (or such) on his chest?
I wouldn't really call that "fake kibble" on Blitzwing's chest at all. If anything, you might say it's a repeat of the sloping back of the cockpit in the spine of the fuselage, but it's certainly not a double/repeated cockpit.
As for Octane, the original G1 toy and carton character model don't have those pectoral square details. That's something from the Universe 2008 deluxe class toy, which served as the inspiration for his rendition in the IDW comics.

SillySpringer wrote:I'm starting to wonder if Power of the Primes will actually be a mix of Combiner Wars and Titans Return with some other gimmicks thrown in for certain characters. More like a traditional generations line. I can't really think of a specific gimmick that they'd use for the whole line, and they did say that Combiner Wars will come back.

Insurgent wrote:Overlord looks awesome and will be mine. Tidal wave looks ok. Better in boat mode. Interesting they went with toon purple and not toy green. Clones look good. What size are they? Look a bit simple. Delta magnus prime whatever is just ginrai? Most interesting. Will this mean hasbro godbomber can combine? Or will we have to go takara?
Terrsolpix wrote:Welp. Guess I'll be getting two, 100 dollar boxsets just to get two primes, two die cast heads, and some little desk level bots. seriously though, what are the clones? they seem like odd additions that won't even get wider releases

Hmm. Triple-changing Brunt as a headmaster for Trypticon? It'd be better than just having the head hanging off the back in base and spaceship modes. Heck, make him able to attach to the nose of the spaceship as a nosecone/turret; the current nose is too blunt.
And if there's any chance of retooling the dino head mode, there's another giant-size character who could use a head which turned into an autonomous tank in some series and a headmaster in another. A character who hasn't gotten a non-Kre-O toy in seven years...

That would have been the smarter move.

The themes are rather arbitrary it seems, especially when each set has its own name that is unrelated to the actual theme of speed or strength.

Nemesis Maximo wrote:Will, you mentioned the digital integration. Much as I'd like to see that happen across the board for all transformers toys, do you really think that might be the Power of the Primes gimmick? It seems wierd that the flagship Generations line would follow the suit of the tv-tie-in RID line.
I was just thinking myself what the new gimmick could be, and I wondered; what if it's accessories? Eh? What always seems to be the difining artifact of primehood? The matrix. Now obviosuly not everyone can have a matrix. But what if everyone had a stupid Mech Tech weapon, or perhaps they go Cyber Planet Keys, which would unlock the so-called "power".
Heck, there's even precedent. Doesnt each of the original Primes have their own artifact? The Magnus Hammer, The Forge of Solus, etc?

We know there isnt enough TR left to have them all in waves. BUT what if those toys will be in the next two box sets. I mean that gives us a lot of juice. 2 more deluxes, 2 more leaders, 2 more voyagers and 2 more heads.

william-james88 wrote:Anyways... about me thinking if the ditigal integration is the line wide gimmick, yes I do 100%. This is of course pure speculation but its what I believe. People have been reading between the lines as to what hasbro was expressing during the last week-end when people asked reps random questions and the general consensus is that the gimick is line wide but wont have the same customisation angle (of CW or TR). So that lines up with the other rumours of it being more digital based. Its just a lot of rmours lining up together.

I hate box sets. Nothing but cheap money grabs. That said, I'll be picking up both of these.
I have an addiction to collecting versions of Prime, and the two offered in these sets are must haves. I've wanted the Takara Gini for some time now, and I imagine this box sets price will be about the same as import costs, with the bonus of additional figures I can sell on eBay. The G2 version of Laser Prime is just too awesome not to have.
Nautica is a figure I was so looking forward too. Seeing what Hasbro has to offer us, well, its a disgrace and insult to the character. If they weren't going to put effort into it, they should have let it alone. She comes in a box set I want, so I'll obviously be getting her, but I don't know if I'll keep her. Such a waste.
Overlord is quite awesome. He looks so good, this will be the first leader class figure in a long time that I don't hesitate to pay full price for.
Blitzwing and Octane are just pretty. I'll be excited to add them to the collection.
Tripticon is not worth the money, just like For Max.
Metalhawk, well, I always thought he was an IDW created character. For me, this figure does nothing.
That's all I really have to say at the moment. A lot of the deluxe figures will depend on my mood when I see them in stores.
