what about a g2 megs in a boxset. wouldnt that make sense with g2 prime

While speculation is all fun, I think these two boxsets prove that there is no sense to these boxsets. The only trend here is the classes they include, that it will be mostly toys related to the TR line, that there will be 4 sets covering the tech stats (in name only) and that this is how the clones are released. Aside from that, I dont think there are any guidelines.

You mean he's bigger than Leader Class right?:

The TakaraTomy suggested prices for the figures are:
Voyager: 5000 yen
Godbomber: 7000 yen
Leader (eg. Blaster): 8000 yen
Super Ginrai: 8500 yen

EDIT: I see Jelze got me on this on the previous page already, d'oh!

As mentioned before, price isn't just based on plastic content but number of parts, complexity of manufacture, complexity of deco, and a bunch of other stuff. That's why a big chunky Rescue Bot and a fiddly skinny Deluxe can come in at similar prices.

The Pricing made me flinch as even at MAX price the UK price is still a premium on top.

50. (leader)
20. (deluxe)
15. (sub-deluxe)
7. (Titanmaster)
30. (Voyager)

Total : £122.00 So It looks like a fair price is around the £125.00 mark. which is about the same as a Combiner Force Boxed set. but then they'd mark up like this :

20. X4 (Deluxe)
30. X1 (Voyager)
11. (Legends)

Total : £121.00 (which is around what they cost - often less - sometimes more).

And most of those are no where near that and the Metal Titanmaster is more likely worth something like £4.00 Voyagers got for £15.00-25.00 and Deluxes are more expensive and less at the same time I can pick most of wave 1 up for £10.00 and maybe £15.00 for wave 2 and about 20 or less for wave 3 and about 23 for wave 4.

Some figures are taller than they normally should be for their Class, like Animated Lockdown and 2010 Battle Blade Bumblebee. That's taken advantage of by TakaraTomy of all companies, who boxed and priced him just below Voyager Class for the Movie Advanced release. Gotta love TakaraTomy's different approach to assortments and more liberal pricing.

At any rate, Quickswitch and Laser Prime have my utmost attention, followed by Rodimus and Fastclashlane. Nautica, not so much, despite her performing the Amica Endura ceremony with several others.

Watch hasbro start doing that same practice. I am thinking that rumoured voyager BB in the movie line is just the HFTD Batleblade BB repacked in robot mode.

Anyways, I wont object to paying a north american leader price for Godbomber and I doubt anyone would.

To be fair, BBBB might be the single most sophisticated toy ever released at the Deluxe class. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if HasTak had stretched the budget for that figure even at release assuming it would recoup in sales due to being Bumblebee.

Hey man, I got my rainchecks, I am ok. Plus you can always sell the other ones you dont want. Its quite easy to sell unwanted boxset only items since there is always a market for it.

Perhaps If God Bomber was released on his own they could justify the Leader Price point with a bonus item like a couple of extra Titanmaster heads or even a full head and vehicle combo - that is suggestive of Roller. failing that there is always a bonus weapon as an option. But they can justify the release with a decent premium paint job and no gosh darn stickers on it too.

(releasing it on it's own is only really practical if they sell the Super Ginrai Optimus too or mod it so it fits on PM Prime too).

So I tend to think the logical place for it is as the leader in one of the eventual 4 probable boxed sets.

I wouldn't object to strongly if the other leader in the 4th set is Thunderwing either - but i'm not going to cry to much if it's Diatlus either - But I guess Thunderwing is a problem now they have already done the head.

In a way it's a shame they didn't make the retail Optimus that spiffy G2 deco - Though I get why they didn't do that - and I do like the usual Optimus colour version a lot too. I do look at that mould and think aside from the Tanker alt more there is a bit of hint of Thunderclash about him too - but then I thought the same thing about CW Motormaster too.

In a way it's a shame than the Turbomasters may be scattered in the next bunch of gimmicks - as they'd have made a pretty terrific Combiner Team too.

Honestly, I don't think having a Thunderwing head is too much of an indicator that we won't get one necessarily. We got a Brawn head and then a full Brawn shortly after (albeit not directly compatible with TMs in head mode), and TR Hot Rod compared to the Rodimus face could also be a similar example.

And since we already know that Hasbro isn't above giving us what we want in these box-sets, but doing it in a way that makes us want to buy the other box-sets too (see Ginrai inspiring an expectation for Godbomber, and the clones coming one-per-set): what about a full Leader Thunderwing based on his outer shell/media appearances, but with a head based on his inner robot? He'd make a perfectly fine toy, and a technically accurate one at that, but anyone who really wanted the "full look" would naturally have to spring for the previous box-set as well to get the die-cast head. It's so simple, so easy and yet so devious, that I'm actually kind of expecting something along those lines to happen.

Honestly, the whole Magnus Prime situation is really weird. I can understand why it wasn't released by Hasbro as a leader on its own, since based on Takara pricing the budget was higher. And since Super Ginrai is a better mold than Leader Optimus Prime in a number of ways (better arms, better guns, better chest, better cab, more toy-accurate feet) then even if Godbomber never makes it to the west that means there's still SOME merit in releasing it. On the other hand if Hasbro were planning not to release Godbomber then why keep Magnus Prime in Ginrai colours, why not make it a more distinct deco like the myriad of OP repaints before it? And if Hasbro were planning to release Godbomber, why not do so in the same box set?

As much as I would like to think there's some kind of plan here, these were the minds that re-released Energon Grimlock in a box set with no equivalent Swoop, so they're capable of anything really.

Theres another reason why a thunderwing titan master means nothing: it wouldnt work with a leader thunderwing body. It already has the full helmet, so its made to work better with a deluxe or voyager. Leaders usually have a face that takes up most of the titan master so that it works with the helmet they stack onto it. Although I would preffer Dai atlas just because the base mold would be a perfect homage and this mold doesnt really scream thunderwing to me.

Logic no longer works here. We have to think in opposites. They are making boxsets with the clones right and we all know logically hearing that would mean a boxset with clones (plural) in a boxset, especially since they are always paired. But no, clones in boxsets means one individual clone in a boxset. So looking at it that way, splitting Magnus Prime and Godbomber is perfectly in line.

Just an aside on using Thunderwing's robot mode head design: as Black Shadow uses the very same mold, Ominus uses that design, albeit a bit compressed, for Sky Shadow.

Here's the thing, if Quickswitch and Super Ginrai/Magnus Prime (which is bigger and more expensive to produce than Hasbro's own PM OP) can fill the same space in these sets then why not the equally large, but less expensive God Bomber? Clearly they're just interested in having a large figure in the box. And maybe having the more expensive Super Ginrai in one box and the less expensive God Bomber in another box is all part of their budget strategy?

With Triggerhappy's head. ;)

I mentioned back at Toy Fair that they should do a die cast Optimus Primal Titan Master for one of the box sets, but now that I think about it I really want specifically Optimal Optimus so I can stick him with Ape-X. That would be amazing!

I did think about the 2-head issue with regard to Thunderwing - they I wondered about if they'd be so cruel to release two heads for a character when the one people wanted two heads for is actually Overlord - what with him having a place to put them in his chest too and multiple reasons to be suited to another head.

I would hope that they are considering another wave of Titanmasters and can include a titanmaster that complements Skyshadow and a repaint that complements Overload perhaps - or at the very least so Takara can make use of that in their releases.

I hope Titans Returns (and Rescue Bots & RID) doesn't all vanish due to the Movie toys - I think a lot of people would be pretty irked if they are offered Dinobot repaints over the likes of Misfire & Slugslinger.

I'm a bit concerned that Wave 5 & 6 is going to be really hard to get.

Speaking of Wave 6 - do we have any idea what the Wave 6 leader is yet ?

We might not have a Wave 6 Leader at all - the last wave is generally where they have their least offerings and put out most their repaints, mostly because they're wanting to wind it down to get up the hype for the upcoming line(s) with maybe one big surprise (in CW, Sky Lynx). Combiner Wars for instance had no new Leader class in Wave 6, instead giving us Skywarp again. I wouldn't hold your horses for anything more than re-issues of Overlord and Sixshot.

All I said was that Godbomber isn't a Leader Class figure, because he isn't, he's between Hasbro classes. I never said that Hasbro wouldn't treat him that way anyway.

I think what a lot of people aren't realizing as well is that God Bomber is a parts former. Now don't get me wrong, I actually like God-Bomber a lot, I had the original for a time, and I have nothing against parts formers like some fans due. But due to their simplicity and general lack of poseability, this is the reason that, despite their size, they are slightly less expensive. I would be fully willing to pay Leader Price for him if sold separately but I don't see that happening. I just kind of wish at the very least Ginrai and God Bomber would be sold together in a set, but I know that would require Hasbro to create a new size packaging and price point, which they probably don't want to do.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

They used to do tons of 2-packs like that, back when christmas exclusives were a thing - man do I miss those :(
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.
