What non-G1 stuff has the current brand team given us in Generations? Armada Megatron and...?

The Thrilling 30 stuff like Waspinator, Rhinox, Rattrap, Sky-Byte, and Armada Starscream were from the previous brand team.

Well the G2 combiners technically count not to mention the rumored Tidal Wave, Liokaiser, and I'm pretty sure at least one more.

G2 is in a weird situation where it both is and isn't G1. G2 redecoes of G1 characters are not terribly inspiring as a non-G1 offering.
Liokaiser is a G1 character. Japanese G1 is still G1.
Tidal Wave is still just a rumor, but if he happens that will make a whole..... *pulls out calculator* two non-G1 figures produced by the current brand team.

In some fairness, the model they're in now where Generations has to have an overlying theme is certainly not helping this. During Gen 1.0 and Thrilling 30, where it was more of a catch-all line, there was more room for toys representing other eras.

Huh. Didn't know Victory was G1. I thought it was a separate universe. Actually now that I think about it.. Isn't Armada part of G1 in the Japanese continuity? Well then I take back my statement. These guys are Geewunners.

G1 is huge. It contains numerous sub-continuities, big and small, and I would estimate that the various G1 sub-continuities are as big as all the non-G1 continuities combined. The big ones are US G1 cartoon, Japanese G1 (which replaces The Rebirth with Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory in that order, and is getting supplemental fiction even today), US Marvel G1, UK Marvel G1 (which includes US Marvel and Marvel G2), Dreamwave G1, IDW G1, Beast Wars and Beast Machines (also in the US cartoon continuity), and plenty of smaller iterations that I'm not listing or am not even aware of, including one-offs and what-ifs and what have you. Some of the children's picture books, which describe events that contradict the other versions, constitute their own continuities. So yeah, it's big and there's a lot of it.

In a nutshell, the G1 family encompasses:

The US G1
The Japanese G1, including the Headmasters, Super God Masterforce, Victory, Zone, Return of Convoy and Operation: Combination
G2
All of the Beast Lines
The Japanese Car Robot line (the US Robots in Disguise adaptation is its own universe, oddly enough)
All spin-offs from such lines, excluding trans-dimensional travel into other franchises.

However, other franchises are free to "bleed" concepts and characters into any G1-centric line. Generations has always been about revisiting the past and updating it to modern standards, so everything is fair game. So far, I don't think they've gone younger than Cybertron yet, with Armada the most revisited of the non-G1 lines.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Only if they have broken the toy plugging in the Engine block does release the tank halves for sure... but you can push the buttons manually - so perhaps that is what they did.

I honestly don't remember. The transformation in the video was quick, and my Overlord itch has been scratched by the Kabaya kit

Beast Wars however is More Comic related/inspired in spots (Covenant of Primus being the obvious example) then later it shoehorned in some cartoon references, that could still often be read either way anyway.
Beast Machines is Cartoon Continuity for sure.

RID is it's own pocket Universe but the Japanese Version "Car Robots" is a daughter-Universe Time travel type story that is a direct sequel to Beast Machines. Which does at least help explain the Predacons I guess.

That also does give the Combatrons a very strange status too in that Universe as they seem to be no the Criminals in storage type thing - but actually reprogrammed Maximal Stasis Pods.

Though I can't even remember how they made that excuse in the US Translation.

-------

Anyway Takara seem to like their Beasties so they are offering us a Beast Convoy & Cheetor after all. and i'm certain the swapping face gimic on Cheetor is there to make it easier to turn him into Tigertron later on... Who knows they might even make Shadow Panther as well.

----------

I do think it's nice that some fans are saying that they would like either reference to other things or new Characters as I do get a little concerned sometimes about peoples obsession with the brand new or thing 30 years old.

While I'm sitting here thinking... I wish we'd got.

Armada Superbase Grand Scourge
Cybertron Grand Scourge
Or Energon Grand Scourge
or finally some drone limbs for Takara's Grand Scourge (perhaps inspired by the Lio Kaiser leftovers or The PCC toy). So they don't have to make a Fire truck and Submarine mould.

Speaking of, I would like to see a new Autotrooper, and I mean a retail version, not a Botcon exclusive. Imo he and that Kremzeek figure were the only two good things to come out of the Kiss Players line.

You don't have to worry about that - Kiss Players' anniversary came (considering the context I feel disgusting for using that word) and went this year. It was April something; the date I signed up for this website.

And while it may seem like they're extremely into G1 to the extent of not caring about BW, I wouldn't worry about them even being within a 300-mile radius of Kiss Players.

Basically the same. They were Autobot protoforms that the Predacons reprogrammed to be evil.

And to segue this back into Titans Return while still talking about RID Decepticons, who do we think is going to redeco TR Voyager Prime as RID Scourge first? Whatever replaces the Club or Takara?

What?

Japan didn't get Beast Machines until 2004, years after they had made Car Robots.

The ones from Predaking to Cosmos we all basically knew about (aside from Predaking), though I'm suspicious of a lot of the ones that are unconfirmed. Windcharger and Huffer just got toys in CW and they are nowhere near big enough characters to get more toys this early (though I'd like an original Huffer mold if only to get a good Pipes for MTMTE), and then stuff like Landcross and BlackZarak just seem so obscure and out there to possibly be true. Of them though I could expect Starscream to happen because popularity, Battletrap and Snapdragon as Titan Masters due to Flywheels and Apeface already being those, Seaspray because we already got that rumour and Carnivac because we're apparently getting a Pretender already and he's an obvious retool of Weirdwolf.

Predaking's surprising me though. I'd have expected that to come in Wave 1 of the next Prime Wars instalment at the very earliest.

Rumours of Upcoming Transformers Titans Return Toys: Predaking, Abominus, Blood, Carnivac, Grotusque

Postby william-james88 » Fri Sep 09, 2016 9:03 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
We have been getting many rumours lately, like MP Megatron and several toys from Titans Return like Octane, Blitzwing and Seaspray.

Well Autobot N has shown us an image from TMizer's Facebook page which is titled "「Rumor」Official products of transformers. upcoming in 2017" and it repeats a lot of toys that we have already seen rumoured, with some new ones. Here is the image:

Image

The top are arranged by classes with Beachcomber under the Legends section. This si the first mention of this toy. Also, you will see how Brawn is absent from this list, along with the redeco of either Leader Ultra Magnus or the Powermaster Prime retool. Seaspray is mentioned but in a section below with a lot of new names of toys that are surely in different classes and include: Deathsaurus, Starscream, Abominus, Dinobot, Huffer, Windcharger, Grotusque, Flywheels, Battletrap, Snapdragon, Godbomber, BLOOD, Darkwing, Dreadwind, Blackzarack, Landross and Carnivac.

The recent rumour of Blackshadow showed that Pretenders were joining the Titans Return line so it makes sense to see Blood and Carnivac here who are dead ringers for redecos/retools of Mindwipe and Wolfwire respectively.

The most intriguing though are the mentiones of Abominus and Predaking, which are one every fan's want list. Hopefully all this pans out but until we see any images, take these new rumours with a grain of salt.

"BLOOD" is most likely Bomb-Burst, as Blood was his Masterforce counterpart.

God damnit now I have to update my list :BOOM:
Very interesting list indeed, lots of unexpected characters and I'm loving it. I wouldn't worry about characters not being listed as there's no mention of Topspin, broadside or any of the legends figures recently leaked.

I really hope Deathsaurus is true because I would love a new, real Deathsaurus.

Actually, they did a bit more than that.

His powermasters were somewhat integral to the transformation in that they unlocked the tank section to split into the legs, and unlocked the arms in the jet mode. Granted you could totally press the buttons in the slots yourself without the powermasters, but they did have that function.

Hate to ask, are you sure? The video review I saw led me to believe that the bits just came apart

I'm sure. The slots have release mechanisms for both legs and arms. Unless the latches are broken, you need to press the release buttons to have them pop apart.

It was part of the Powermaster gimmick generally. Unlocking the transformation is some way.

Ginrai unlocked Super Ginrai's / Prime's legs for transformation for example.

This review shows the unlocking:

I think that it's more meant as a "we aren't completely sure of this toy's existence".

As for my thoughts on the rumors, out of the stuff we haven't heard of before, I'm most excited for Predaking, Battletrap, and Starscream.

If I have had to wait almost three decades for a proper new Carnivac and it's forced to use that Wolfwire mold pleeeeease can it be retooled? Can we at least have the shoulder spikes? Maybe retool the chest so that it still looks somewhat similar to the chest that's formed by the wolf head lower jaw on the original? Decent claws would be nice too.

Tell that to Hasbro (again), since the current team doesn't seem to care about that anniversary (only TFTM's 30th anniversary is getting any attention from them, leaving it to only Takara and Fun Pub to care about Beast Wars this year).

To be fair though, their homage to the 30th anniversary of the film is not all that great.

I think there is too much going on to also release new figures for Beast Wars right now. Hopefully that's something in the planning stages for the 25th anniversary.

As for the 30th anniversary of the film, I am also a bit disappointed. I'm happy we're getting amazing representations of the characters, but I'm not happy Hasbro forced all of them into the Titans Return gimmick of the line. As much as I like my TR Galvatron, I really wish he'd just be 30th Anniversary Galvatron. Same with Scourge and Hot Rod and Blurr. I think it would have been neat if they could have found a way to keep the cockpits in the deluxe class figures to interact with the Titan Masters but not actually made them Titan Masters themselves. However, as the figures were adapted to be Target Masters back in the day I don't find myself too annoyed at the change to headmasters.

Thing is, I've only gotten Galvatron so far from the TR line, and that might be my only purchase this year. I'm quite happy with Generations Blurr, though maybe if Hasbro had colored TR Blurr like Takara I would have picked that up. I don't have a Scourge but I don't pick up figures I have to fix. Though I may get Scourge at a later date on a sale of some sort, possibly a clearance, I'm not ruling that out. I'm also happy with Generations Kup so I don't see myself getting TR Kup either. I am very excited about TR Hot Rod as I was never happy with Classics Rodimus' arms (though I love his jet pack).

I thought about getting Astrotrain but I'm leaning against it. I think that's a decision I'll make in person in the store if I ever see one in a store. I have no plans to order one online. If Hardhead came with the Takara head I would get him, and if Highbrow's propellers locked in robot mode I would get him. These are things I can't overlook.

I'm thinking about getting Chromedome, but I want to see good pictures of Getaway first, though if I see Chromedome in a store I may give in. I'm not happy there is no paint on the Titan Master's head, but I do like the Chromedome face. That combined with how well the figure works and that Chromedome is Arcee's 3rd boyfriend may seal it for me.

So this year I may only get two TR figures. I'll see what my total TR count will be, but it won't be high. My CW count is seven (all 6 Aerialbots and Blades). I don't think my TR count will surpass that.

Wait, what? 0_o since when?

Also, just figured out a couple of redeco reasons why Windcharger may be getting a new toy despite not being a prominent character in... well, anything.

1. Tailgate. Tailgate's obviously a really big character in MTMTE, and unlike a lot of Thrilling 30 toys meant to represent characters from that series, I recall a lot of people not liking the Tailgate toy.

2. Trypticon's coming, and he needs his entourage.
