Also Nova prime if you count battlecore OP.
Edit: also the rumoured nautica coming next year
Jihaxus was around before IDW, Windblade was a toy first and so was victorion. The comics are just cross sale platforms.
Nautica is a good example though.
Regardless, IDW Jhiaxus was still based originally on Marvel Jhiaxus, right down to their similar head designs. He wasn't a purely IDW-original creation.MemphisR56 wrote:william-james88 wrote:MemphisR56 wrote:Jhiaxus. Windblade. Victorion.

But IDW Jhiaxus is arguably a different character altogether and that figure is undeniably IDW Jhiaxus.

I'm no comics guy, but does sentinel count?

He feel a lot more like a cross sell toy to me. Sure, the colour and face are IDW but its more like Hasbro doing that to sell a new toy that didnt need much effort to do by using the astrotrain mold.
The deal with Tarn is that he would be a new mold, at least I hope. Sentinel is just a reuse with slight homages with a cross sell comic.
Straxus really is the best example so I thank Randomhero for reminding me of that. He is also a bad guy comic only transformers character who didnt appear in much but was memorable and got his own mold. Tarn is pretty much the same thing and Straxus is precedent

My big anxiety as we wait for word on TR Kup (if there is one) is that Hasbro will go for toy colors. I dig toy colors on the '84 characters but the movie characters strike me as being best served by toon accuracy.
So far, TR seems to be going heavy on the toy homages from Hasbro. And a toy homage Kup would double as a Marvel Comics Kup and be cheap on the paint apps.
But I really want more of an IDW/toon color scheme. I'm oddly anxious he'll wind up as mostly one shade of gray.

Moonbase2 podcast said that Kup will have the Optimus Titan master head from Power Master Optimus prime. It kinda looks like Kup? A really really young Kup

Considering the PMOP Titan Master face is based on Orion Pax, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that's a reference to this.

Dude, that'd be so epic![]()
Now I need that for the Egyptian-skull-looking face, some of the others would be severely awesome too
Randomhero wrote:Straxus turned into a flying nothing in Marvel. Just because be turned into a flying nothing. That's why his robot looked nothing like his alt mode. That was the problem with all marvels Cybertronian modes. They were just nothing's driving or flying around.
RodimusRex wrote:Bradimus wrote:I still say Straxus is an obvious and fitting retool of Galvatron. The robot modes aren't a great match because of how boxy Straxus is, but with some clever retooling they could get an update that looks close enough. The artillery modes don't need much retooling at all. I don't know who came first, but Straxus could be Galvatron. Or the other way around.
If you're going to make Straxus become someone else, I think Beast Wars Megatron would be a novel approach. We know he had a name before Megatron, generally, and we know Straxus has a tendency to become a second Mega/Galvatron. Fits with people's desire here to see a BW Megatron as a new villain in IDW's G1 comics.
One idea I played with when I was hoping to pitch comics was Straxus becoming G2 Megatron. This frees up G1 Megs to either remain Galvatron or be an Autobot, depending on the continuity, while introducing G2 Megs. And from there, my idea is if G2 Megs is a separate character, he can be the very early incarnation of BW Megs.
It fits in a weird way. He's a purple-faced Megatron. he starts of a lot of the engineering/color schemes you see into BW. He also has "Megatron" written all over his body in G2 as though, you know, maybe he's trying TOO hard to convince everyone of who he is.
So in my head, G1 Megs is free to go into exile/stay Galvatron/stay an Autobot. Then Straxus creates the G2 Megs identity for himself to seize command of the Decepticons and proceeds to evolve into BW Megs. It's a clean solution to a range of problems in most G1 continuities.

So, can we make that like a box set. one quintesson body and then 5 titanmasters for the 5 different faces??

This could happen. It is the 20th anniversary of Beast Wars. Also, think about how Blitzwing was repainted as Doubledealer. I could see it, but I bet they are just making a new mold of Sky Shadow.Noideaforaname wrote:Randomhero wrote:I'm just playing devils advocate. Heck for all we know we could get this version of Sky shadow in leader size...
It'd be glorious and amazing
!!!!
Sky Shadow was a land animal and a sky animal combined into one. Overlord is a land vehicle and a sky vehicle that combine for robot mode at least (I'm not sure what that one image is implying). Maybe possibly there's some kind of wacky repaint, please Hasbro!BW Sky Shadow is already perfection, but I'd be ALL OVER a "pre-war" version.
But I'm expecting just another use of that Seeker mold that's shelfwarming as we speak...

Nothing alike.![]()
Tell that to Hasbro (again), since the current team doesn't seem to care about that anniversary (only TFTM's 30th anniversary is getting any attention from them, leaving it to only Takara and Fun Pub to care about Beast Wars this year).TK415 wrote:This could happen.
