The Autobot line-up of Zone consisted of the three new molds of the Powered Masters - including Dai Atlas - almost all the micromaster teams and all the micromaster bases... while the entire Decepticon line-up consisted of a single Micromaster team and a Metroplex redeco. This is why the show had to have some non-corporeal entity resurrect Overlord, Trypticon, BlackZarak and the combiners. Dai Atlas needed something to fight.

And then the following toyline, Return of Convoy (which Vanquish was from)... had ZERO Decepticon toys. Every single toy in that line was an Autobot. Kids in 1990s Japan must really have not liked bad guys.

I'm just glad we're getting a Brawn that's more than just a head/accessory. I never found the previous legends Brawn years back, then the TM Brawn really was a let down. I need a good Brawn.

For those who haven't picked on up yet, get Alpha Trion if you can. I put some thoughts down in my thread and the toy haul thread that basically amount to the fact that Alpha Lion is a really regal Transformer with some of the best paint apps I've seen and a great looking lion mode and one of the best Robot modes I've ever seen. And if you want to get it as Lio Convoy instead or too, go for it. It really works

So the Hasbro Micromaster line was compromised by the lack of something like Diatlus or Star Convoy etc..

Then the Japanese line was compromised by the lack of things like Countdown, & Skystalker...

Sure the bases were a bit meh when they are the only choice you have but as an extension to the Japanese toys they are terrific.

As for Micromasters "Updates" yes I like Micromasters getting resized as a thing to do in general - but I was talking more like remaking the old patrols but with some heavy influence from the Microns/Minicons coming in to them.

So I suppose really what you'd do is remake them with some gun modes - that way there is not need to worry about making them combine into things too.

Also keep something back for an eventual homage to Armada sometime too.

Anyway I was tripping over lots of Micromasters lately at carboot sales and it made me realise what a delight they are with modern base-Transformers.

So I've been fishing some of the old ones out they are great fun - they just need to be used with larger robots and not made the centre point of the whole line - again as was done with Armada too. where you got both.

All but 6, the Race Track Patrol was sold as a Destron team over there, and Skystalker was released twice as one: as is as Thunder Arrow pilot, and redecoed as Metrobomb for Metrotitan.

Countdown was also released during their Zone line (the tail end and for all intents and purposes, the end before the Return of Convoy. Skystalker and Countdown's "crawler" was featured heavily in Victory.

Try looking for the re-issue Microcombiners like Sixliner,Sixtrain,Sixturbo,Sixwing and Sixbuilder. Great micro figures and vehicles.

Badguys in general don't sell. And it was like the nail on the coffin for TF. The other TFs in the pipelines were repurposed for their new Brave line.

The fans must have............grown up by that time.

I have a couple of the micromaster combiner figures; their redecoes in Universe (2003) as the original G1 combiners though. The shuttle one, the concorde one, the hook-looking one and the scrapper-looking one. I also had the blackbird one and the firefly one at one point.
I remember loving the Scrapper one because his name was Buckethead.

Total the team and you get 30 'bots already. They work great with Starconvoy and Skygarry. Grandus was never re-issued which was a great loss. Once I get to opening Blaster and connect him to 'max, I'll be going pew pew bang bang with them again.

Too bad Sixwing didn't get his true Autobot/Cybertron deco back.

Oh well I did some research - I didn't know about Thunder Arrow - what I was trying to get across really was that might have made a good Destron wing man vehicle on the show.

I will admit I had forgotten the larger vehicles came out in Japan for some reason I was only ever seeing info on the 'powered masters' and the Patrols.

I barely ever see the Return of convoy Duel-vehicle "Miromaster Combiners" either.

(now there is a confusing term) that is why the others often get called "six-teams" I guess instead of Micromaster Combiners.

I guess I don't pay a lot of attention to the tail end of Japanese G1 as it's so expensive I never think to look at it or for it.

That's kinda crackers, though I do recall hearing that Good Guys sell better in Japan, so I shouldn't be surprised!
