I'm surprised the Titan Master class isn't basically dedicated to this idea. They exist largely as replacements in case you lose the original head, and a lot of the 'full' Headmasters have alternate head designs, so it's a bit odd the individual titans are all new guys.

About the titan masters being a great place to release different heads, I hope that is what happens with Overlord. Since he will most probably come with only 1 titan master, I hope they release another titan master to be his missing partner, and it would serve as an alternate face like either from the comics, or show or toy.

Thats at least 2 different versions then, good enough. And in any case, I will just take a random mean looking decepticon titan master and give it to overlord as an extra guy so he can have 2 pilots for his 2 alt modes. Really looking forward to this.

Do we know any of the cases for wave 3 (aside from deluxes and TMS of course)? I am curious to know if Sky Shadow is being released alongside Sixshot and also how many Gnaws are put in each case. Hasbro has been smarter about shortpacking lately.

Totally expecting them to go IDW on this, by the way - considering Titans Return has had quite a few characters who have their IDW heads despite being on bodies that match the original toys but not their IDW bodies (Brainstorm, Chromedome, Rewind).
Plus IDW is where Overlord got a lot of his popularity like those other characters. I mean yeah people liked him before but Last Stand really boosted it.

The only problem is that the Leader class Titan Masters have a... certain way of doing things.
With Voyagers and Deluxes? It's fine. No reason they can't do a mouthed Hardhead or IDW Perceptor or what have you. But Leaders... due to the proportions, their Titan Masters are only half the head and the Helmet makes up the rest of the head. So while feasibly you can sell an extra head that looks like this...


... it's a bit harder to sell one that looks like this.

Yeah seems like a no brainer. If they do, some retooling would be nice.

I could almost expect Takara to do a two-pack; similar to Hoist & Trailbreaker and Windcharger & Wipe-Out.

... then again, they seem to like releasing the Legends with the Titan Masters now. Hell, considering there's only 3 legends for every 4 titan masters (by wave), I could totally see them making up some new redecoes and retools to accommodate that. Cliffjumper and Eject and Frenzy (the blue one) are seeming like stark possibilities to me now. They might even release Buzzsaw after all.

If you mean figure distribution, I'd expect the initial cases to be evenly spread out, without any carryovers as is the case with Wave 1 and 2 (the only "carry-over" is PMOP for Wave 2). As for Sky Shadow being in Wave 1 or 2 2017, chances are he'll come in wave 1, as early as possible to give the eventual Overlord/Powermaster Gigatron release some breathing room.

Its not since they always come in even numbers. Stripes was (wisely) shortpacked in wave 1 but in wave 2 it was Rumble who was Shortpacked:

If people had to choose, they'd probably want the blue Soundwave cassette more since he showed up more than the red one. I think that's what it comes down to.

I never saw the online cases. When I found Rumble there was three of him, LB and Ravage. Assumptions were made. To be fair most of time the pegs are picked through pretty thoroughly.

I'd be happy to find 1 Gnaw at retail, but honestly I think I'm going to put a preorder for the entire wave once the usual suspects put them up.

Not really. They just wanted to do the Phase Sixers apparently.
But while Sky Shadow has managed little more than a few appearances, Overlord's been the big bad of two of the most popular - if not the two most popular - Transformers comics in recent history. He's kind of become a big deal.

He isn't shelf warming because it hasn't been a year yet. Maybe call it slow moving inventory.
