Not at all. Everyone will agree that what they seem to do is replicate G1 transformation for these deluxes, which is very basic. Nothing wrong with it of course, but these are not complex figures. These are deluxes through and through. And Windblade only looks smaller becuause:
1- she is in the background
2- she is not on a stand, unlike Hardhead is

The fact that he is a headmaster may make him cost more than a deluxe, but do not be fooled, these are deluxes.

Brainstorm didn't cost more than any other voyager because he was a headmaster. I don't see these guys retailing for more than the cw figures.

And he even had an overly complicated chest gimmick - one that seems to have been dispensed with >:oP

That gimmick was as complicated as a mouse trap. And one that was pretty unnecessary to begin with.

Well the point of the line was to honor the various gimmicks and such, I just think that it may have been rushed through the design process :-?

When you see his vehicle mode however... he looks about Roadbuster's size in vehicle mode. I do not know how they did it but he looks massive in vehicle mode. Great size illusions Hasbro.

They did it by having both halves of the tank mode fold down along the top panel to become his body >:oP

*facepalm* YES I KNOW. It's the fact that his vehicle looks to be bigger than most CW deluxe vehicles is what I mean. He looks like he would need a bigger torso and more plastic to make him bigger than the average deluxe. How many deluxes do you see nowadays that has a torso that makes up most of the vehicle mode which is bigger than an average deluxe vehicle? I thought DRAGSTRIP'S alt mode was large for these times.

He's totally worth it. Just be gentle with the headmaster - especially his neck if the joint is tight, and know you might have to give the neck port some tlc - mine just needed some flashing cleaned out of the headmasters head, but he's a great figure ;)^

I got some bad news for you guys. Remember when Hasbro switched factories from China to Vietnam and the sudden quality drop that ensued?
Well, it seems that now Vietnam is too expensive for them and they're moving operations to India.

I know people have had problems with the headmaster, but I found that if you just kinda roll the head forward instead of pulling it straight out it will pop out without much of an issue. It'll probably still be a little tight the first couple times, though. And always make sure to hold down the release on the chest.

Wave 1:

Leader class: Blaster, Optimus
Voyager class: Galvatron, Sentinel Prime
Deluxe class: Hardhead, Skullcruncher, Scourge, Blurr
Legends class: Rewind, Stripes, Laserbeak
Titan Masters: Siren, Nightbeat, Squeezeplay, Horri-bull

Wave 2:

Leader class: Soundwave
Voyager class: Alpha Trion, Astrotrain (not confirmed, but, come on)
Deluxe class: Mindwipe, Chromedome(unless chromedome is just a head), Brainstorm
Legends class: ?
Titan Masters: ?

I'd assume the legend class for wave 2 would Rumble, Frenzy and Ravage since they have been rumoured to be a part of the line.

Scourge looks pretty good and I wonder if you can attach the head to back of the vehicle mode like in the cartoon.

Mindwipe looks good and will go well with Skullcruncher and the rumoured Weirdwolf.

Alpha Trion is intriguing me. Art work looks great I hope the toy looks just as good.

I will wait until I've seen the rest of Chromedome before I make any judgements. Though his head sculpt looks great.

Yes
and the sudden quality drop that ensued?

No

I predict negligible impact on the actual toys. Either Hasbro makes more money by selling them at the same cost with lower overhead, or they charge us less and move more units.

Yeah on the plus side it gives Indian people more jobs.

Not strictly a plus side since it means the vietnamese would be losing jobs.

Apparently the reason they're moving is that the vietnamese labour market is flooded with loads of toy production companies right now, and it doesn't seem sustainable economically. Boom and bust and all that.

Moving to india is a step in the direction of having production stability for the foreseeable future, not about cheaping out on the labour.

This is Hasbro who have won countless awards for ethical business practises, remember, it's not really their style.

Someone suggested the idea of getting the decepticon headmasters (provided they happen) retooled into predacons... weirdly it almost makes sense.

weirdwolf -> rampage
mindwipe -> divebomb
horribull -> headstrong & tantrum
voyager alpha trion -> razor claw

to clarify, i don't mean it's a rumor that this will happen. i mean they said "wouldn't it be cool if.."

Plastic quality has nothing to do with the country of manufacturing since all production changes are ordered by hasbro.
for instance The quality is not entirely the same between takara and Hasbro and yet both companies use the same factory.

Doesn't seem too likely. Looks like only the original 1987 Headmasters are getting their own bodies with the smaller '88 figures being just heads. Squeezeplay is already planed for Titan Master singles wave one (as Crashbash). Pretty likely Hosehead and Fangry will be part of wave two.

ScottyP wrote:Anyone think this A3 is a "pre-tool" of something?

Eh, I think Vector Prime is the most likely and obvious choice. This is the Prime Wars trilogy after all, we need more Primes than just Optimus and Sentinel and there's no better time to work in one of the original 13.

Then again, if it has both a flight and lion mode they could really pull a surprise move and make it Victory Saber with elements of both Star Saber and Victory Leo. I'd buy that!

As for the Deluxe class size I wouldn't expect them to be more than a little bigger, if at all, but far and away from small Voyagers. Let's not forget that earlier in the Generations line (and Universe before it) the Deluxe line was bigger. There were a few smaller Deluxe figures like Thunderwing leading up, but it wasn't until 2012 and Fall of Cybertron that the entire Generations line shifted all Deluxe figures smaller. Or, smaller again since the Deluxe class has always been in flux when it comes to size. 2012 really did screw us over by simultaneously making the figures smaller, simpler, and more expensive. I ended up just getting the Japanese versions of the FOC figures at the same time as Hasbro for just a little bit more.
