WOOHOO, another beliver! I hope we get some more opinions soon since like you I am dead certain Tidal Wave is the true gem out of this set. Whether the mold suits him or not, they put a lot of love into him and its easily my favourite headsculpt of all Titans Return.

Also, when putting on the God Bomber bits over Magnus Prime yesterday it totally reminded me of building Omega Prime. The good and the bad.

You know who would have made a pretty neat boxset Voyager? Bludgeon out of Megatron/Blitzwing. The only other Voyager Bludgeons on the market are the old ROTF figure (which needs upgrades and is pretty hard to find for a reasonable price in good condition, at least from my experience) and that exclusive combiner torso Bludgeon (which is very hard to find and looks...questionable) and whilst I know e-HOBBY were teasing that Bludgeon from Hardhead, a Deluxe is a bit short for the skeletal samurai. The Megatron mold would look pretty neat in Bludgeon colours, the tank mode suits him and somehow the Headmaster thing works well for a Pretender. Sure he'd need a sword but Hasbro is no stranger to repacking older weapons with new figures and I'm sure there's a suitable weapon in Hasbro's mold archive they could use (That AoE Optimus Prime and Grimlock two pack came with G1 Rampage's sword, a mold from almost 30 years ago at the time!). Plus they could call his headmaster something weebalicious like Wakazashi or the like.

If I recall though, Takara had just rereleased Predaking not long begore. So that "30 yr old" mold was still fresh and not something they randomly pulled out of the vault

Can the cabs and trailers for CW Ultra Magnus and TR Magnus Prime be swapped and still have functional robot modes?

I believe the trailer will work, but Godbomber needs a few tabs on the back. Not sure if Mags has those tabs on him.

I don't have mine yet (tomorrow), but you can already count me in on Tidal wave. He's the one I'm most looking forward to. 1) Need more cowbell, I mean cons; 2) I love aircraft carriers; 3) that headsculpt.

Not quite. I wanted Ginrai but balked at the price, so I passed. I'm also not a traditional geewunner and don't really mind the inaccurate decos. I'm more interested in owning the molds, as opposed to needing the best deco. I usually go Hasbro except for when Takara does something Hasbro doesn't (Nightbird, Slipstream, Black Arachnid, Grand Galvatron, Megatronia, Baldigus). I will buy Takara, so it isn't that I'm "cheap", I just limit it to when Takara offer's something Hasbro doesn't (and it is something I care about). In the case of Computron, I double dipped getting Takara first then Hasbor only because I found it ridiculously cheap. I was always going to get the Hasbro box sets anyway, so when Magnus prime was revealed with very little changes, I didn't need Takara Ginrai anymore. But I did need Godbomber. As soon as Hasbro confirmed he wasn't coming, I ordered Godbomber from BBTS and put him in my pile of loot awaiting the Siege set. Both arrive tomorrow. Magnus is neither going on ebay, nor getting anything from PE and I'm willing to bet there are plenty of others on this site that are doing the same thing.

I purchased Skytread a few weeks ago and while I love the head (especially stealing Chromedome's body) the titan master could not properly interact with the tank/jet at all due to terrible mold degredation. So I returned him.

Then today I finally gave in and picked up Overboard because I had Overkill as a kid and really like the homage and the colors and the head. But again mold degredation made everything terribly floppy, so now I'm ready to call Hasbro to complain about this and then return Overboard back to Target.

Do I just have bad luck or has this been a widespread problem?

I ask because if it's just bad luck I'm willing to give Overboard another chance as I really want a second Decepticon Titan Master to go along with Fangry. I keep coming across Ptero and keep getting peeved at Hasbro for not releasing the Titan Master as Teradive because that's a Decepticon I want and need as a Titan Master. I prefer the animal Titan Masters to the vehicle ones and feel Hasbro has missed too many oportunities to sell interesting products.

Disregarding Godbomber - I'm more interested in the Magnus Prime/God Ginrai (heck even Powermaster Optimus Prime) cab with the Ultra Magnus trailer going back to me wanting Magnus Prime to be more Ultra Magnus than Optimus Prime.

Some random thoughts - but somethings I would do different with the Prime Wars Trilogy: Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus should have been Titans Return Ultra Magnus with Minimus Ambus as a Titan Master/Headmaster. This Titans Return Ultra Magnus should then be re-tooled to a Power of the Primes Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex maybe as a Prime Master.

In theory, how easy would it be to put TR Windblade's faceplate onto T30/Legends Windblade?

Quite tricky I would have thought. You'd either have to do some cutting and remodelling or else find/design a 3d printed piece. Honestly I'm not sure it's worth it, especially given the wibbliness of the Gen Windblade mold.

Tidal Wave looks absolutely lush. I'm pretty sure they used the little voyager-springloaded-head-bulker-uppers to give him the traditional earmuffs which is a very neat way of incorporating that design whilst sticking to a normal sized head.
I do really wish he was in the hasbro colours though. Not that the purple scheme doesn't look good, it just doesnt look quite right to me. And hey, having the green would match his latest appearance in fiction too! Albeit, y'know. Less whale-y (whale-ine?)

The only thing is the inside of the cabs are different. Ultra Magnus inside is more like a cockpit. The hinge that connects UMs head connection is different than the head master connection. I had to check all three of mine since I have the PC-16 connected to God Ginrai I have a loose truck cab to inspect easily lol. But yes it can be done with ease...and you should take pics too lol.

SAME HERE. The only difference with me is taht I never found Computron for dirt cheap so I just have the takara version. But aside from that you could apply everything written to me.

And I dont think its about being cheap, it could simply be that we have budgets and getting the Super Ginrai mold for cheaper means we can afford other toys.

Very difficult. At this point, it would be easier to paint TR windblae into T30 windblade colours.

Sorry if I seem so hung up on this, but remember those comments with people complaining about Titans Return shelfwarming? I know it makes fans sad to see the same toys all the time they go to a store, but does that mean that Titans Return is indeed not popular? I am asking because I cam back from an almost fully stocked TRU today. It had lots of movie stuff and older Titans Return stuff as well. Only Wolfwire and Roadburn/Bee/Brawn were left from the more recent TR stock.
But you know what wasnt there? Or at any TRU in Montreal (one of North America's biggest cities) ? Robots in Disguse Deluxes. I asked to see if what I was seeing in this store was the same elsewhere and after searchng through their digital inventory it was confirmed that they were sold out everywhere. That means everyone, including the countless Strongarm, Bee, Prime and Grimlock rereleases. All gone. And we know that those were ordered more than the TR deluxes (which sell at the same price point).







This to me proves that Tians Return in general is indeed niche and that kids are the primary market for toys (well for toys sold in toy stores). We collectors arent that big an audience. The fact that TR toys "shelfwarm" means that there isnt enough of us that care to buy more niche characters not supported by accompanying media.

Just wanted to state an observation, that display really stuck me is all.

It has been a slow build with Seibertron showing all the bases connecting together bit by bit throughout this year. However, with Magnus Prime and Overlord out now (in Canada), Titans Return's mega city can finally be completed. Of course, what you see below is just an example of what can be accomplished since the amount of configurations at this point is endless. The pictures below involve all the official bases from the Titans Return line, so every leader figure and the two titan class figures.

This isn't the last of these articles though, there will be a follow up with Takara's exclusive God Bomber added in since he too has a base mode that can connect.

Have you put together a top 5 base modes list? And how about a top 5 fan mode base mode list?

I think the key point you mention is accompanying media. Kids want what they see on TV. I know this because my 6 year old cousin loves Rescue Bots and wanted them and I helped his father track down the gift set of the original 4 Rescue Bots. Now he's started watching G1 and is lucky to have his father's G1 Power Master Optimus Prime to play with which is easy enough for him to transform. I'm sure in the next year or two when they come to town to visit he'll want to see my neo G1 (CHUG) collection because that's what he's watching with his father now.

I wish Hasbro made a real effort to make current media targeted at kids for the Generations line, especially since they have done such an amazing job with combiners and titan masters and soon the Prime line. These deserved current media to help sell the toys. At the very least they deserved proper webisodes on par with RWBY and Red vs. Blue. I'm talking weekly 10 minute YouTube videos that tell a story over 15 webisodes. Combiner Wars was lacking and very late. We'll see what Titans Returns brings but that too is way late so there goes any hope of using media to sell toys. I just don't understand how one of the companies that created the ultimate 20 minute toy comercial has so utterly failed at advertising its toys in the modern media age.

Technically the Ginrai / PMOP cab also is a cockpit albeit a smaller one to hold a Titan Master which is smaller than Minimus Ambus which sits inside Magnus's cab. The hinge that hold the PMOP / Super Ginrai helmet doubles as a seat for the titan master in Truck mode.

The cabs are attached to the trailer exactly the same. Same screw connection. And should technically be about the same size, so should fit in the chest of one another's trailer armor / body.



So you would end up with an Ultra Magnus body with an optimus prime head, and a PMOP body with a Magnus head.
