It should have been a Fire guts Ginrai repaint. Re-releasing nearly the same deco was a total fail. Everybody who wanted a Ginrai already bought one or preordered the set combined with godbomber. Especially the people in the US who were forced to buy online from the same site that sells the takara version. Other than a few cheap people, who protested Takara Ginrais price, nobody needs Magnus Prime. Countless Magnus Primes will probably show up on e-bay, and the rest will undergo full toy accurate conversions courtesy of Perfect Effect.
Can the cabs and trailers for CW Ultra Magnus and TR Magnus Prime be swapped and still have functional robot modes?
You mean attaching the CW Ultra Magnus cab onto the Prime trailer?
It should be possible yes. But why?
You want to give Magnus Prime's trailer a white cab?
Disregarding Godbomber - I'm more interested in the Magnus Prime/God Ginrai (heck even Powermaster Optimus Prime) cab with the Ultra Magnus trailer going back to me wanting Magnus Prime to be more Ultra Magnus than Optimus Prime.
Some random thoughts - but somethings I would do different with the Prime Wars Trilogy: Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus should have been Titans Return Ultra Magnus with Minimus Ambus as a Titan Master/Headmaster. This Titans Return Ultra Magnus should then be re-tooled to a Power of the Primes Powermaster Optimus Prime with Apex maybe as a Prime Master.
The only thing is the inside of the cabs are different. Ultra Magnus inside is more like a cockpit. The hinge that connects UMs head connection is different than the head master connection. The outer chassis is the same so if you left it in vehicle mode then its a go. Also if you wanted Magnus Prime to have UM's head then it is also a go. I had to check all three of mine since I have the PC-16 connected to God Ginrai I have a loose truck cab to inspect easily lol. But yes it can be done with ease...and you should take pics too lol.
Technically the Ginrai / PMOP cab also is a cockpit albeit a smaller one to hold a Titan Master which is smaller than Minimus Ambus which sits inside Magnus's cab. The hinge that hold the PMOP / Super Ginrai helmet doubles as a seat for the titan master in Truck mode.
The cabs are attached to the trailer exactly the same. Same screw connection. And should technically be about the same size, so should fit in the chest of one another's trailer armor / body.
So you would end up with an Ultra Magnus body with an optimus prime head, and a PMOP body with a Magnus head.

I thought you weren't going to get Trypticon until sometime next year...![]()
Anyway...cool pics, in addition to God Bombr, I noticed Quickswitch is missing form that pic. Once I get MP and God Bomber tomorrow, all I need is Overlord and Trypticon to complete my city, if I ever get to see them in a store that is...
I know BBTS has Trypticon in stock (HTS and TRU do not), but the advantage of getting Trypticon at TRU in store is I can put him on layaway. its hard to drop $150 all at once on a single item...
Also about the Generaitons line, yes I agree after lengthy discussions we had previously it is niche, which is sad...but I'm not sure Hasbro has kids in mind solely. Sure kids are buying these no doubt. But when you have certain characters that no kid would know or care about unless their parents told them, I find it hard to believe that the development team (many of which were fans as kids themselves) would have ONLY kids in mind for Generations. Currently most Wal-Mart & Targets in my area have almost no Generations toys in stock, (I'm actually impressed at how well Broadside has sold, many stores in my area had 4-6 on the shelf at one time, unheard of for any single voyager...and yet somehow, they are all gone...) mostly Movie toys, followed by RiD15. TRU seems to be the only chain keeping a healthy stock of Generations. Also most TRU have the Transformers section split currently. They have an up front display (basically any toyline promoting a summer film), and their regular location in the store...
Speaking of which, I am no fan of the movie line to be sure...but what in the world would posses Hasbro to make an $80 Sqweeks toy? BB8 he is not...biggest waste of money I've ever seen, I expect to see those clearance out at $15-$20 around holiday time.

Magnus Prime seemed to have good, tight joints, pretty much on par with my Super Ginrai (which I will probably sell at this point). My main reason for concern with this was seeing how the Liokaiser box set turned out last year. The joints on the limbs of the planes & tanks felt so loose, due to overuse of the molds, I'm sure.seemed to get it right this time.
While I am glad to hear your Magnus Prime is tight and great, I am very surprised that he doesnt suffer from the other problems mine and others' share. Mine for instance has a major problem where his leg panels easily become undone in robot mode. It becomes a chore to pose him, not helped at all by the feet and useless heelspurs. So let me know if he is hard to pose and stand and if his legs dont have that issue. It's really making me hate the mold.
Plus, I saw that debate about which is better and I truly feel the deco differences are far from the issue here. The one thats better is the one which can stand properly and pose well. I havent handled the Takara one, but I make no hyperbole when I say that the Hasbro Magnus Prime is the worse toy from the Titans Return line.
In my case, the Takara one is extremely loose and falls over a lot, whereas I'm very happy with the tightness on the Siege version because he can easily support the weight of the armor and be posed.

Relic0037 wrote:Both molds seemed tricky to pose IMO, unless you go for something extremely basic. Seems likedesigned the legs to make you want to get God Bomber to make him more sturdy, but not much more poseable. I mainly like the mold for being closer to G1 Super Ginrai.

Siege set came today *happy dance* I'm only waiting on Overlord now, so I can whenever he finally hits retail in the US.

o.supreme wrote:Oh Crud...it never even occurred to me that Primitive Optimus Prime would have that sort of connectivity....I don't know why...Still, I think this is one rare case where my desire to "have them all" can be repressed/justified. Its the exact same thing as PM Prime. Sure it has some different accessories, but the characters is basically the same. I can justify Super Ginrai/MP as being different from PMOP, but Primitive... nah...I can let that go...

Deadput wrote:For me I'm using Primitive Prime as a separate character called Shreddicus Maximus which is the name of the Titanmaster and in my collection he is a leader of a subdivision called the "Powermasters" which are a group of Titanmasters who use Powermaster exo armor that is modeled after Optimus.
So basically this is who is who in my collection,
Voyager TR Optimus Prime: Optimus Prime himself
Voyager TR box set Laser Prime: Is a separate character called Laser Prime who is a massive Optimus fan boy who remolded himself after Optimus (Like IDW Pyro) but misinterprets Optimus's code of justice and is a murderous Autobot so basically he is an exaggerated version of live action movie Optimus.
Powermaster Prime: They are exo suits modeled after Prime but are piloted by Titanmasters, the powermaster helmet is like a knight's helmet too.
SDCC exclusive skateboard Prime: He is the leader of the Powermaster Autobot subfaction named Shreddicus Maximus who is the only one with a distinct suit of armor.
Magnus Prime/Takara Ginrai: Not sure with this, he is either going to be Optimus himself in an upgrade or he is going to be the Powermaster's ultimate exo suit piloted by their most skilled member who has the name Ginrai but is called Magnus Prime in suit mode.
That solves any "duplicate figures of the same character" problem on my end, just putting an idea out in case it helps.

Plus, Minerva and Cab titanmasters!
TF-fan kev777 wrote:I'm using a similar headcannon where PMOP, Skater Prime and Magnus Prime are all headmasters with bodies modeled after Optimus prime. In my case, CW red Prime is my Optimus Prime with my Laser Prime as a separate character with a similar fanboy story. I actually going to turn Skater Prime into a Decepticon with some extra toyhax labels and make him Power Master Nemesis Prime because, well, need more cons. That also helps balance out the cities.
