I respect that. I guess I was just hoping for more. I think this line, just like CW, is being held back by the forces gimmick.

RID shows us what could be currently achieved instead if we didnt have to deal with that gimmick. While I do find that line more original (for obvious reason, I mean there is a humanoid Deer and Lobster transformer) I dont think it's better than TR.

And if there is one toy that I think we could use to judge the line with the least bias it would be Blaster and PMOP. Both those guys would transform similarly (if not exactly the same) if they didnt have a headmaster gimmick right? And yet I dont think they are better than the rest. Good, but not better. What I mean to say is that, I dont think the gimick is limiting toys, instead its adding playability. I mean everyone of these toys is better than FOC shockwave and he didnt have any constraints. See, you thought I was more optimistic, but its quite the opposite I dont think hasbro would make these toys any better if they didnt have the gimick to deal with. They would just all end up like Gen Scoop, predictible.

I know this sounds random to anyone reading this but I am currently wondering if any toy from TR beats Energon Sharkticon. When I think of a nice toy not hindered by any gimick, he always come to mind and is a gold standard of deluxes for me since he doesnt feel as dated as many other toys and doesnt have a cartoony style that would link him to a particular show/era.

I don't quite understand. How are any of the deluxes hindered by a gimmick? If anything a Headmaster allows for more things to do with the transformation since you don't have to worry about where the head goes. Soundwave/Blaster needing to involve Cassettes, most the leaders needing a base mode and all the voyagers having three modes I'll give you as intrusive gimmicks, but headmasters?

I like him. As a modern take on Powermaster Prime I feel they did a pretty good job. My one gripe would be, if they can do so much retooling to turn him from Ultra Magnus into Optimus Prime, then why not give him different hand guns?

I find Leader PM Optimus a MARVELOUS figure. Truly some masterwork engeneering here. My only gripe is the hollow inner arms. I'll wait for a shapeway upgrade kit to fix that.
And yes, it IS pretty random that he have the exact same guns as Ultra Magnus.

I didn't notice them. Though I only had a chance to transform him once so I need to go back and have a better look at him.

Nothing random about it. Just lazy. They go to all the effort of re-engineering him from Ultra Magnus but then can't go that little bit further for the guns.

I realise the cost involved, having to design (though just grab the design for his signature gun and modify accordingly) and develop the mold but sheesh. You want to differentiate them? Make the effort all the way through to the guns.

I still think that award would to to thunderhoof. Bisk has a cool but rather normal alt mode while thunderhoof has major alt mode/robot mode integration with his rake becoming antlers.

I like Bisk though, he is for par with the rest of this great line of decepticons. Am I the only one who has a problem with his left claw staying pegged in when in vehicle mode?

Thanks! They also had Highbrow, but I passed due to funding. Hoping I find wave 3 of the TR deluxes there if this sale holds out. (Twinferno and Hot Rod are my targets).
Wanted Mindwipe for a while now and I'm not disappointed at all. Joints are nice which lends to solid poseability. Paint apps are crisp. Face plate is sharp.

Couple of nitpicks:
- His gun rotates fairly easily in his grip.
- I'm a little wary of the soft pieces that comprise the tips of the wings in alt mode as well as the bat head and smaller wings. Hope they hold out for some time to come.

Well, I went back to the store to return my unopened Firefly with the receipt I had from Alpha Bravo and they accepted it! I checked to see if there were any other TF's I'd like in return, and they had a TF4 movie Evasion Mode O/P discounted from €35,- to €25,- so I grabbed him.

No pics this time, moving friday, keeping everything packed, but it's this guy:
