I was very happy to be surprised by this dude today, as my tracking info from Pulse said he would not arrive until Thursday.

Its very appropriate that my sons chose to watch Ghostbuster movies today on our lazy day. Gotta tell ya, he is so much larger in hand than he appears in any photos I've seen. Can't wait to free him form his plastic and cardboard prison tomorrow. Very happy I changed my mind and decided to pull the trigger.

Finally got my Smashdown, got it on Amazon during Prime Day. It wasn't on sale, but I was already buying other stuff so why not?

Also found Tiny Turbo Changers wave 4 on clearance at Target for $2.08. I was standing in the aisle with my phone checking the codes. Got pretty much all the ones I was looking for in this wave except for Megatron (these aren't much of a priority so it's not like I've been actively hunting for him.) Got Dragonstorm, Optimus, Bumblebee, Scorn, and Swoop.

More stuff coming tomorrow.

Little delivery from Prime Day! I caved and bought Shockwave while he was on discount. There's been some talk lately about the "definitive" versions of characters, fueled in part by figures like this...

He's exactly what I expected: perfectly articulated, brilliant light-piping, not the purple shown on the box, and entirely too small for a "leader" class figure. Even Beast Hunters Shockwave is taller, it's kinda sad. That said, he's a good size for Shockwave.

The sculpting is incredible, though, and I'm sure they'll make a perfectly-toon-colored one for $80 in a few months.

Or, given the "clean" prime and megs were actually cel-shaded (and start new micro-collections for whoever buys them) maybe never, so they can keep selling new Shockwaves.

Make no mistake, I love the effort that went into this figure, there's a lot going for him. Weaponizer compatibility, unparalleled detail, multiple alt-mode options, cool packaging, somehow color-matching my weaponizer Vos, etc. I just feel like I've been played. Albeit not very well, thank you Prime Day!

Got my own Prime Day Transformers deal in today. Got Siege Starscream for around $20 and SS Barricade for $13-something. Starscream is a super solid figure in both modes and I had no issues with the chest panel falling off, in fact I was afraid of breaking it trying to pull it off. No need for a metal pin here. There's also some thoughtful things in the design like the flap behind his head that keeps it from moving and fills the gap, and the spring loaded lower leg calves that keep him from having hollow legs. If you can get over the visible legs in alt mode it's a great figure. Glad I like him because I've basically committed myself to buying all of the Seekers.

Barricade I liked more than I thought I would after all the negative reviews. Bot mode doesn't bother me in the slightest. As a car the panels are problematic, but not impossible. I don't use instructions and didn't find him that bad, at least half of his car mode is in his arms so that helps.

My love of the Cybertron Optimus design compelled me to get Galaxy Upgrade Optimus at Target today but in hand the magic's already worn off and I'm finding him pretty meh...

Thanks! I'm hoping to throw some old Bionicle sets onto ebay so I can get Ecto Prime too before it gets too expensive. I'd talk to someone here, but I don't know anyone well enough to ask them to hold something for a week or so until I have $200 to wire them.

Anyhow, Ectotron's pretty great, though I agree with everyone who thinks he'd be better with wrist joints. Hoping to have some pictures of him busting a ghost up on the Pics thread sometime in the next day or so, I think I got him in a decent pose, but I want to fiddle with him some more.

I love the litttle translucent Slimer, it reminds me of the little ghosts that came with the Real Ghostbusters figures back in the 80's, I loved those as a kid.

Do you have the Cybertron / Galaxy Force original? If not you should hunt him down. Pretty much one of the best Optimus toy ever. He's my first Transformers that I bought with my own money as an adult, and also my first Ebay purchase. He hold a very special place.

Getting the Siege version is pretty pointless for me.

Do you have the Cybertron / Galaxy Force original? If not you should hunt him down. Pretty much one of the best Optimus toy ever. He's my first Transformers that I bought with my own money as an adult, and also my first Ebay purchase. He hold a very special place.

Hold on your original and never get rid of it! But the Siege one could be easily repainted and retooled into something awesome, thanks to the partforming armor.

The awesome version came first. It was called SIEGE Ultra Magnus.
Galaxy Upgrade Optimus is kinda messy in altmode and of course lacks the crazy awesome flight mode, even if he does randomly have landing gear in the armor feet.

Returned him and got these two instead. Much happier.

Speaking of kitbashing, now that I have Siege Red Alert I'm thinking of kitbashing my Generations Red Alert into Lightfoot/Getaway because the Universe Lambo mold is perfect for it.

I put mine on ebay a few years ago. That, along with Rail Racer (The closest we've ever gotten to a perfect combiner, IMO), is one of the toys I most regret letting go of.

Yeah, the lack of the flight mode is the biggest disappointment to me. If they'd at least managed to include that, which I can't imagine would have been that hard to do, this would have been a pretty nice homage and/or decent alternative for those who can't get their hands on the original.

I actually plotted out a way to make it work in my head: Turn the false wing sections (the ones pinned to the armor legs) into real ones by attaching them to the backpack with (posibly double-jointed) cams which are in turn mounted to pivots, and hinging the smaller "true" wings to the formerly-false ones.
