If they had held out a little longer for the Snakemen line the line probably would have continued at retail, as would have the cartoon. But Mattel's mismanagement doomed the line and it was too expensive to continue solely at comic shops. What's truly frightening is that you could get Disco Skeletor for a couple dollars on clearance at Walmart back then and now he appears to be the highest priced Skeletor of the line selling for around $35 on eBay MOC.

LSD Skeletor was hard to get over here, probably because it was shelf warming at walmart :P I really miss toys being toy price (and our Woolworths).
The line was mismanaged from the start, com-chip equivalents to non com-chips meant having to do a 2nd version of Grayskull as well as removing the chips resulting in a lot of duplicate figures early on. On top of the early release NTSC promo video with figure (meaning they could only be sold stateside -at least transformers prime had promo region free dvds). Snake men had a bit more mature content so it might not have got the retail push it needed and then it moved to the statues (which I know licensing reasons and all but it really did seem to move to be 100% targeted to mature collectors).
To say anything fails because it shelfwarms isn't true of most things, Iron giant toys were in bargain bucket buys in toysrus yet we didn't even see them here in the UK. Avatar, one of the highest grossing films and even that didn't even get toys over here at retail. Marketing and distribution blunders everywhere (so Hasbro UK might be useless but they ain't alone). Plus one of the biggest crimes of all toydom, no short circuit figures from a film that would have sold them by the millions (even police academy got toys and a toon and that's even before figuring in Troma toons, we live in a weird world).

Hasbro even do a Darthvader that looks like LSD Skeletor, so it wont be long before we get the Optimus and Megatron equivalent :) anyways back to the usual it's too G1 it's not G1 enough rants so we can be back on topic :)

Kudos to those who have tried, but we really need to get this train back on the track.

It is an interesting conversation, and some good points have been made. If you all would like to continue the debate, feel free to start a new thread called "Get Your Head Out of Your G1", or "How Can We Get To the Future, If We're Stuck In the Past" or something like that.

But I must ask that we get this thread back on topic. As cool as that Disco Skeletor is, let's swing the convo back to Earthrise please.

Thanks! ;)^

Since Soundbarrier is basically a ramp for connecting the various base modes, how many Soundbarrier's are people thinking of picking up?

Correct me if I am mistaken, but I was under the impression that Soundbarrier would be the first of many Earthrise Battlemasters to include the A.I.R. System connector.

I'm certainly hoping its more than the same robot painted 5 different ways, but I guess we shall see.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

I wouldn't say 5 different decos of the same figure, but I'm predicting two types at the very least; a straight road (Soundbarrier) and an intersection.

btw A figure using the A.I.R. system has already been released: Omega Supreme. Ironworks will the next one.

I believe o.supreme was talking just specifically on the battlemasters, where Soundbarrier will be the first one. He is surely aware that his namesake titan has them based on previous discussions we've had.

Also, Siege Astrotrain is going to be the next figure release with the A.I.R system connectors. Then it will be Leader OP, Deluxe Hoist and Ironworks and Battlemaster Soundbarrier vying for 3rd, depending on which class makes it to retail first. Technically Voyager Grapple sort of has them as well, but only for lifting, which was awesomely brilliant of Hasbro to include.

Absolutely ;)^ . I enjoy how Siege Omega is both literally, and figuratively a *bridge* between the old and new interlocking systems ;)

But yeah, we can expect a lot of figures to have to have ramp connections, with Soundbarrier and his kin to provide extensions. Straight, Intersection, Curve...

Think we’ll get cassette ramps? Or a reworked tape deck Soundwave? After looking at the relative completeness of Siege decepticons.... i’m worried we’ll get a lot of re-dos (like Seekers).

The issue with the Cons is that they Autobots have always outnumbered them. We can basically hit all the major players in one year thanks to the SELECTS line. Combiners have just been done so I doubt we'll see new ones of them anytime soon. Hopefully this means we'll start seeing some later Cons like the Predators or Breastforce

I got two of each of the Battlemaster guns that only came with one Fire Blast effect part, but I'm not planning to go nuts with the ramp guys. Doubling up on the Micromaster bases might make more sense, though it's obviously more expensive.

Probably just the one, but hoping for some third party parts that allow backwards compatibility (and for tracks that fit Omegas tank/not just kind of a circle for base mode). I still need to work out which previous battlemasters I need with having some Legends figures already with targetmesters.

Following up, I'm already 100 bucks into Earthrise just having to get two Leader Optimus Primes. I could do more maths on this, but I'm easily a ball into Earthrise just off previews.

I find this statement surprising, yet comforting. I know you have not been a fan of a lot of mainline over the past few years. I really hope ER meets your expectations.

I could see myself grabbing an extra Sound Barrier or 2. And any other city link bridge maker bots that come along.

Honestly, I'm mostly liking the Deluxes from Earthrise so far. Grapple's a maybe, and I don't really need another Starscream or Prime. Though, as I say that I know I was indifferent to Siege Prime at first because I didn't think I needed another Prime but it's turned out to be my favorite G1 styled Prime, so I feel like I'll end up warming up to Earthrise more  . I'm just happy we're getting another good looking Wheeljack finally. CW WJ had potential as we can see from UW, but it was let down by lack of paint

I'll more than likely just get one of every figure I dig just like I usually do. I'm gonna be honest here I don't see myself building any kind of bases/cities on my floor and playing with it. I enjoy transforming them and figuring the "puzzle" out but acting out a battle or pretending to build a city, more than likely not. :MAXIMAL:
