I really kinda want this guy, but the Siege line has been so incredibly disappointing to me, I’m afraid of opening it and being let down.

That's kinda uncool to say that... there are a lot of other people who have had their order delayed, and you come along with a ho-hum attitude on whether or not you'll even keep him
I don't. So far the Siege line has been knocking it out of the park, except for this dud. It's not horrible, but it's the weakest of a near-flawless line.YRQRM0 wrote:Man, I just don't get what I'm missing about this Megatron, every time I look at him he seems like the weakest mold out of Siege, but everyone seems to love him.

This might have been answered before, either here or in the comics forum, but I don't remember. Was the figure designed first, and the comic had to use it, or did the comic character concept get finalized and the toy had to conform to it? (I would think it's the former, I don't see Hasbro bending to IDW's will, but I had to ask.)Hellscream9999 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:I don't. Same, he feels like a carry-over from potp, as far as quality and plastic density; plus the design has so many cut-corners that I just find myself liking it less and less
That would have been nice, but I think since there were separate Megatron and Galvatron figures, Voyagers no less, I doubt there were plans for a PoTP leader Megalvatron. Besides, I think Hasbro reserves those special gimmicks to characters *they* think are the "coolest" or most popular. (Hence the PoTP Hot Rodimus Evolution leader figure, which was, quite frankly, severely underwhelming to me.)Sentinel_Primal wrote:Because I'm still hoping we see all the Evolution designs from POTP at some point with "deluxe" class Megatron turning into leader class Galvatron
Oh, I'm pretty sure there were plans for everybody on the poll (although since Super Megatron is a thing you may be right about there not being a Megalvatron evolution design). And in fact, I'm pretty sure SIEGE Shockwave is a quick reworking of his PotP evolution design into C.O.M.B.A.T. Leader armor, hence why the armor looka like his limbs.Rodimus Prime wrote:That would have been nice, but I think since there were separate Megatron and Galvatron figures, Voyagers no less, I doubt there were plans for a PoTP leader Megalvatron. Rodimus Prime wrote:As for the "leader" class Siege Shockwave, I would have taken a BS vehicle mode at the Voyager price as opposed to what we got, because it couldn't have looked much worse and it would have been almost half price. And they nailed the robot mode so well, my Siege Shockwave is probably staying in robot mode permanently. He's seen vehicle mode only once, just because I wanted to see it for myself in hand. Once again, severely underwhelming.
blackeyedprime wrote:Still feels kind of weird for jetfires backpack to not do much, it could have had a couple of seats in there or be used for storage of some of his bits. I like the two hidden tabs and maybe they can be usedto carry troops into battle but not sure how well that will work out trying to support a deluxe figure hanging off them.
Well this is the Siege thread, so let's keep it Siege related. All I'll say is that the Hot Rod component was pretty much the only part I liked. I wish it was sold separately.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:What makes Roddy so underwhelming for you? Is it the Hot Rod component? Takara's bad habit of boring Leader-class Autobots' fistholes a smidgen too wide? *narrows eyes very hard at the Legends Super Ginrai mold* I think of all of them Rodimus is the only one to implement the Evolution gimmick well, and his Rodebago mode beats the heck out of Titrod's IMO.
I like the base Shockwave figure itself. I even use the extra parts as a glider. But in vehicle mode, he just doesn't make sense. I know what he's supposed to be, but it's just not Shockwave to me. I don't know, maybe it's G1 bias? I mean, I'm not a Geewunner per se, though I did grow up on it and it's the biggest reason I like Siege so much. It's a true update on G1 figures. (Except Ravage.)Rodimus Prime wrote:As for the "leader" class Siege Shockwave, I would have taken a BS vehicle mode at the Voyager price as opposed to what we got, because it couldn't have looked much worse and it would have been almost half price. Once again, what makes it underwhelming to you? I'm sincerely curious, since it looks to me like a clever downsize with reworked legs that still passes as a toy raygun to hold - or to blast a convenient exit hole for Skyfire(it's been a few years since I last saw that episode, and Skyfire's smug "I can now" still makes me laugh). And your disregard for the larger modes does not erase their parts' cost or mass

I think they made Shocky Leader-class because A. his evolution design probably adapted more readily to C.O.M.B.A.T. than whatever they had planned for Megs and B. they doubtless wanted to sell Megs opposite Optimus, who was at the Voyager price point.

I think they're just perceiving it that way because of brand unification knocking the lenses out of their Cult of Takara goggles.
Only Siege figure I've had QC issues with was my Skytread; everything else has had great QC.

Likewise. The only QC issue I've had with Siege is a slightly bent back cannon on Sixgun.
