I really don't get any of this. Siege is supposed to be a new starting point for Generations with a new scale to go with it, who cares if they're smaller than figures from 10 years ago? Might as well complain about Siege Sideswipe being smaller than Cyber Battalion Sideswipe, he's a Generations figure at the same price point too after all.

I'll admit that I am unusually uncaring about scale even for a TF fan, but the size doesn't bother me really. Prime actually looks about the right size to me at least. Also Sideswipe is a massive improvement on his Universe toy so eh. I will say, if they release a G2 version with extra weapons and a Yanigerlicious headsculpt I'll be very happy. G2 Sideswipe is best Sideswipe.

On a completely unrelated note a subject came up in the 4chan Transformers general that intrigued me- if you could pick any combiner to be made in Siege, who would it be? I myself would be torn between Menasor (CW Menasor was the runt of the toyline, which is a shame as he's one of the coolest combiner teams IMO) and maybe Raiden (because A: he hasn't gotten any love from anyone and B: Cybertronian trains would be pretty cool alt modes).

Size and articulation are fun secondary play gimmicks, and big reasons for my getting the CHUG toys of G1 characters instead of just sticking to the G1 toys (and also why I got PotP Starscream rather than Classics). I'm disappointed by Siege Sideswipe's size because it's looking like he'd be smaller enough compared to other CHUG Autobot cars - even the TR ones - that they'd be able to just sit on him :P
But then again, the only non-Siege Deluxe I've actually seen Siege Sideswipe with is Universe Sideswipe. I haven't seen him compared to Universe Prowl or Generations Wheeljack or Jazz or to Prime Wars and T30 deluxes.

If we're putting request in for size comparisons, (even though they are bastard cousins at best) I'd like to see the Seige figures with some of the previous WfC/FoC figures. That will be my most likely grouping anyway.

That's a really good point. The only other Cybertronian vehicles we've really gotten have been WFC/FOC. Curious how those will scale as well.

Glad Sideswipe was one of the first they redid. His video game version really was far off base for what I picture him like. Too curvy for a crisp, angular character.

Not the best game to plastic transformation either.

His weapon is cool and was given to Prime the second it was freed from the blister.

Again, wrong thread, wrong line, no relation and no chance in hell; but I'd love to see them finish the WfC/FoC line.

Honestly, that's what I was hoping this line would be. Fixing/Finishing the designs from those games at a proper scale. I like some of what we've seen, but others make me think that this is too G1

Agreed with carytheone above. Toy chest was just way too big. Blaster was a nice bonus. Would love to see a third game in that trilogy made by High Moon to wrap it up.

But bringing it back to Siege toys.... I'm also still itching to see how Siege SSW compares with this guy above in height.

I was hoping for the same thing. Even if it didn't continue it, at least be in the same universe. But that's never stopped me from mixing and matching CHUG and Aligned before.

Not going to happen. High Moon is an Activision subsidiary, and Activision lost the license. Additionally, the previous two games are no longer available digitally and won't be ported to newer systems for the same reason. That franchise is as dead as these things get.

I'd like to see a new Combiner with new members. I know the chances are slim since only existing characters are getting redesigned so far. For existing combiners though, I'd choose Monstructor. Perhaps using vehicular versions of their altmodes? Helicopter for Wildfly, Jet for Birdbrain, Cybertronian Snowplow for Icepick, etc.

I'd put at the top of my list of still-wanting combiners for Siege:
– Monstructor (with monster/animal modes)
– Piranacon
– Raiden
– Road Caesar

I'd definitely go with Raiden. Road Caesar and Landcross would also be viable vehicular options as well.

As you stated, Monstructor and Piranacon would ideally need to have their beast forms, which is not something Siege is lending it self to. Although some to think of it, Siege isn't really lending itself to combiners either. Hopefully the 2020 line (the 2nd part of this trilogy) will be a bit more diverse.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

I'll look forward to the outrage when Monstructor ends up being made out of Micromasters. But seriously, howabout some Micromaster combiners? This with articulation would make me very happy.

I think it's far too early for any combiner redos. We JUST had Combiner Wars and Power of the Primes in the last four years. Those combiners were mostly well done too. We still have some original combiner teams that are missing. Those should be done first, but in the same style as the CW/PotP stuff where applicable.

Yes, Siege can definitely be a new "jumping on" point for collectors and be the start of its own thing ultimately with the "War for Cybertron Trilogy," but it's not completely incompatible with what's come before either, especially with what we have from Thrilling 30 and the Prime Wars Trilogy. That's probably why Hasbro and Takara went so conservative with the "Cybertronian" alt modes for Siege. Most look simply like futuristic takes on Earth vehicles instead of extra terrestrial technology. That's to say nothing of the blatantly G1 cartoon robot mode looks of the Siege line either. The new line is going to fit in nicely with a majority of our existing collections, updating some of the much older releases that needed to be either resized for better scaling with other figures or just cosmetically updated to be more in line with the "G1 with articulation" art direction Hasbro and Takara have been going in lately.

Yeah, I think any of us still clamoring for combiners are hoping for them later in the line (like round 3), or as Takara or store exclusives.

A few people have said that this line doesn't lend itself well to combiners. All the micromasters so far combine to make weapons. Skytread, Ultra magnus and shockwave combine with themselves. Cog, sixgun and brunt are made to combine with others. Perceptor is built to combine with himself in multiples. I'm assuming the cassetes will fit inside soundwave.
None of these are the classic (scramble city) type combinations or even close to it, BUT to me that still means this is very much a line suited to combiners, just more unusual ones. I could happily see Raiden as a leader class, sold as one figure that splits up, that'd be awesome. I think combinations like dreadwing or big powered would suit this line perfectly (in combination style, not era) although we've just had both, so I'm not suggesting them, just that type. Can anyone think of any like that from early G1?

This is a very good post and a very good point.

As for others... Other than land cross, there's none that immediately spring to mind...oh! dreadwing and smokejumper. Those two had a combined jet mode (and through the rid 2001 redeco, could even combine with Armada Megatron for a neat fan-mode)

The idea of Raiden being a leader class figure that could separate like a standard combiner, even if they have to remove the individual robot modes of each component, is one of the best ideas that I have heard in quite some time.

I also didn't even realize that we are surrounded by combiners in this line, it's just that they're so unusual compared to a scramble city combiner or even a titan combiner. Makes me wonder how far we could go with combination in the next few lines from here on. Maybe something akin to Animated Safeguard? :-?

Hasbro and Takara kinda wrote themselves into a corner for any potential new Raiden figure when they made both of his rivals (Devastator and Predaking) into Titan class figures. As such, any new Raiden would have to be of similar size to them in order for him to properly fight them on their level.

Moreover, the engineering for Devastator could theoretically be reapplied for a Titan class Raiden since the two shared similar combiner engineering back in their original Diaclone molds.
