Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

Oh man I wish I could do these mental gymnastics to be ok with it, I really do. But my favorite TF story of all time (and what I have argue to be THE BEST of all time as well) happens to feature a young Impactor before he became the Impactor we know today and he doesnt look like that either:
Fiction wise, thats the earliest look of Impactor and it doesnt look like that toy either.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

I get what you mean, I wasn't saying that's his official younger look in IDW nor was I really saying that was his "young" design, I just meant that this was his look pre war and what he spent for the first bit of it.
But expecting IDW is probably just going to lead to disappointment, IDW's first run is over and done with
With the IDW comics being over I see Hasbro trying to distance themselves away, the IDW look good as it is was probably not the look Hasbro wanted to make for a more Sunbow style line, because looking at all the other designs, their all the same blocky cartoon look.
We have had different looks for characters over the years, this is just another one of them, and I'm sure like with everything else this is what Impactor is going to look like in the new comics.
At least it still looks like Impactor and actually gets his body right for the most part, the head is the only thing that really stands out and even then it's still based on an Impactor design.

Look, I get it, some people like the whole bland, g1 rectangle thing, and I'm happy they're getting a figure that became popular from out of no where, but don't try and take it away from the rest of us, that this just isn't his most iconic design, and that trying to quash that notion (that IDW was nothing to anyone so we won't represent it) is kinda flying in the face of the line that's supposed to be touting the phrase 'we care about more than geewun, scout's honor';
They could have absolutely blended in idw design elements into this figure, hell, most people are saying that they'd like it if it had a different (more idw-esque) head, so clearly I'm not too far off from something.
I'm just sick of people defending stuff by making excuses when acknowledging that maybe hasbro missed the mark would go so much further in discussions as opposed to shouting 'you're obliged to like this, because it's what we're getting'

They're not: Shockwave's has raised ridges on top of the barrels, while Jetfire's do not. It's a bit of a measly armor tbh: just the chest piece, the helmet, the arm guards and guns, all of which are stored on top of the jet.
Overcracker wrote:If you mean the writing on his legs, it appears to just be a stylized version of "Citanes 26" his old sponsor and number from the G1 figure which was itself a modified "Gitanes" the cigarette brand that sponsored that car in Formula 1.
Can't really have a Cigarette brand on a children's toy now can you?

I'm not saying that IDW should be forgotten myself (despite it's abysmal final couple years) but that Hasbro would probably be distancing themselves from it, which they clearly are doing in preparation for the reboot by using new designs influenced by the toys.
The only reason G1 is getting reused over and over is because it is the original and what most people in the fandom enjoy, that's why we get revisits to that and not Beast Wars, Rid 2001, Unicron Trilogy, TFA, Aligned for the most part and even in most of those other continuities starting from TFA they are using G1 inspirations.
Even the Movies that for the longest time were their own thing (and most people hated it) are now starting to put in more G1 influences as the Bee movie have shown, because G1 is the face of this franchise and that's how it will always be.
If Impactor shows up in the comics he will be using that design not the IDW one.
Also never have ever said that anyone "had" to like it, people are free to have their own opinions but just because you have the opinion that "this should be like that" doesn't mean it has to be that way.
They could of put IDW references into this toy but they did not because that's not the intention they were going for, they were clearly going for the original Impactor from the Marvel comics which basically is the "G1 Impactor" and the IDW version isn't nor will it ever be.
The IDW version may be more iconic but that isn't what made the character, that was his original appearances which I will argue were better then his IDW portrayal, he would never have been given such spotlight in IDW if he didn't make his mark in those original comics, Impactor would be nothing today without those comics, the IDW version simply expanded on an already existing character.
ZeroWolf wrote:First off, abysmal final years is an opinion, and for me the only weak part in the last few years was the unicron mini (for not doing more with unicron).
Secondly, yes G1 was the original and should be respected as such, just like Nintendo should be respected for saving the video games industry after its crash in the eighties. However, just because some thing came first, doesn't make it best. I feel like you're being disrespectful to other people's opinions that idw us better l, probably just because you yourself didn't like it. I don't like G1 but I'm not going to hold it against people who do like it and deify it. If people don't like this impactor because it's not IDW then give them that (as he isn't).

I can definitely see the stylized font mimmicing "CITANES," but how on earth are those last two characters a "2" and a "6"? That's not stylization, that's completely made up. If they are established numerals from somewhere in the Transformers lore, I can't find them. I understand why "CITANES" had to be changed, but why not just use the proper Arabic numerals for 26? What would that hurt?
