Hey now. Let's be fair - not everybody comes in familiar with the old stuff.

War for Cybertron: SIEGE is a continuation of the long chain of neo-G1 toys that began with the 2006 Classics line, featuring new toys of characters from the original toyline and cartoon - with occasional expansion to other Transformers universes. There have been varying design trends and premises over the years (for instance, in some years the toys leaned towards the quasi-Bayformer aesthetic that took over the first IDW continuity).

The conceit of SIEGE is that it takes place during the war as it was happening on Cybertron. It leans heavily towards the cartoon, to the point of translating the "Alien altmode, Earthly robot mode" laziness of the first three episodes into toy form for several characters - most notably the Seekers (Starscream, Thundercracker, etc).

Story line wise it's telling the story of the final days before both sides abandoned Cybertron, though currently there's no specific fiction for the toyline (there is a Netflix show based on Siege next year though). IDW is currently using Siege designs but that's a pre war story.

For practical purposes though, it's to help user in a new scale for the bot mode and to recreate the robot modes so they look as they did in the G1 cartoon.

Maybe Takara will release their own sometime later? They did that with Wreckgar, so I wouldn't see why they can't do it with Ratchet.

Still, on the pricing, yeah, looks like it would be pretty difficult to snag at a good price

Had a thought because Skritz got me thinking about numbers again: if we get some sort of SDCC exclusive(s) like Throne Primal and the Retro Bees, will it/they count as numbered Siege releases? That could maybe help explain some of the missing numbers as well.

Reminder that we're still missing WFC-S26, S27, S34, and S44-S51, S44-S47 have no online codes, and to fill all those numbers so far we only know about Ratchet, Skywarp, the Firestormer Pack, and a possible Micromaster multi-pack and hinted-at 4th female combiner limb (Lancer). Furthermore, the code site lists S48-S51 as being available in December if you click on them, and hints at all missing number's factions via the background image being OP or Megs:

S26: Bot, probably Firestormers
S27: Con, probably Skywarp
S34: Bot, probably Ratchet
S44-S47: unknown
S48: Con
S49: Bot, maybe Lancer?
S50: Con
S51: Con

Nope. But at this point I'm very used to relying on online shipping from outside Canada. You see, my area is so bad at distribution it was still covered in Titans Return stuff from the first few waves when POTP had hit shelves elsewhere. So now I'd say most, if not all my collecting is done purely via online preorders.

Not only that but our only two chain stores which carry TF toys (at least in my part of the boonies) are Wal Mart and Toys R Us: the former is terrible and unreliable, never put anything on shelves in time and when it does everything gets sniped by scalpers and/or buyers. TRU has better stock but its unfortunately a good 10-20% more pricy. Their good side, however, is that they seem to stock up better on the Voyager and Leader price points. Edit: Oh they were the only ones carrying Titan sized figures, too, safe for EB Games with Predaking.

So yeah, its a mess. I just buy my crap online because I got sick of hunting down toys. >:oP

At least he wouldn't be stealing Prowl's head deco anymore.

Oh, right, I assume you mean the mixed/reverse Marvel comic deco of 'white helmet red crest', correct?
Yeah, the one both the Animated and Prime Ratchets got saddled with, along with most G1 Ratchet toys beginning with the Universe one (on which it looked hideous).

Gimme red helmet with gray/white crest (Marvel) or white helmet with black crest (cartoon) over white helmet with red crest any day.

Smart money is on the cartoon helmet colors for Siege Ratchet, given his recent IDW comics appearance and the new Transformers TCG card featuring him as a redeco and slight retool of the Siege Ironhide mold.

...so I got my girlfriend hooked on the old IDW comics, so she went to the local comic store in the mall to grab some books yesterday, which I already knew stocked actual TFs as well. What I didn't know though, is that they apparently get figures straight from Hasbro rather than from the warehouses, so they get some stuff earlier than local retail, which means...

I'm so happy, and now I know where I'll be going to look for Wave 3 stuff. I also have more in-hand pics if anyone is interested, but I feel like he's not quite as relevant at this point.

Since I've been told many times that our opinions as grognard fans has no common group with what a kid think: what DO kids think of Siege so far? Does anyone here have kids that play with the Siege toys? Do they find them cool? Or is this truly just a line for crusty grognards. Just wondering.

Every kid I met with so far has loved the line. Between the awesome new versions of fan favorites to introducing new characters, kids have loved what we got so far. They especially love the Weaponizers, and they cannot get enough of them.

This line has been a real hit on both the kids and the adults ;)^

I used to think Jack Kirby art was not that impressive when I was a kid. When I got older (grognard) I gained a lot more appreciation and love for his work and what it meant, not just how it looked. Appreciation and criticism all comes from a perspective sometimes that perspective changes in time - retro and classic become stylish terms know what I mean? I think I appreciate it getting them into the fandom at all then we can get our greedy grognard gloves on em and help steer them where to go what to see all the different awesome perspectives of the Transformer world. I'd rather let the young ones have their likes and if they prefer the newer looks, then so be it. I always think the franchise should be moving forward.

Having said that, end of the day, kids do just want awesome toys to play with, so as long as they hold up well, don't fall apart, they aren't asking a lot.

New Video Review of Transformers War for Cybertron Siege Deluxe Class Weaponizer Brunt

Postby ZeroWolf » Mon Jun 10, 2019 7:47 am

Motto: "My past no longer binds my future..."
Weapon: Battle Blades
Greetings Seibertronians! Today we bring a new video review of the forthcoming Transformers War for Cybertron Siege Deluxe Class Weaponizer Brunt!

The review comes from fellow Seibertron user, Chuckdawg1999 and this is what he has to say about this Con!

Chuckdawg1999 wrote:Brunt is the first Decepticon Weaponizer in the line and it's not great. While vehicle and robot modes are solid, it's individual components are lacking and just not as fun as Sixgun or Cog. If you have a warm spot in your heart for Trypticons old partner drone then this might be worth a purchase for you.

Check out the review that has been embedded below for your convenience!

Brunt is the third Weaponizer in the Siege line and the toy shares a design for centurion drones from IDWs Transformers: Stormbringer miniseries. Brunt is usually a component of Trypticon, in the same vein of Cog and Fortress Maximus and Six-Gun and Metroplex.

What do you think of this review? Are you getting him to bolster your Decepticon forces? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

I'm not all that surprised Brunt turned out a bit more limited than Six Gun and Cog. I mean, Six Gun's G1 toy was the original weaponizer, Cog's arm design lends itself to the gimmick... While for Brunt they had to make up a robot mode because he didn't even have one before, and he only had a single cannon as part of himself. And Iguess there wasn't room in the budget to include the two guns that mounted to the original Brunt's treads in Trypticon's ship/battle station mode.
Doesn't stop me from wanting him.

I just got Brunt yesterday. I think his weapon modes are fine, though there are only two official configurations this time. The only thing that actually bothers me about the toy is that the shoulder mounted cannon can only point up. It doesnt swing forward or anything. He's also quite a bit smaller than his buddy Full-Tilt, but that's a problem of the Siege line itself.

My kids (five and six year old boys) love them for about a week, then they get tossed in a toy bin and forgotten about. Without a cartoon to go with it, these aren’t really a big deal to kids. Kids today are far more into roblocks, Minecraft, and legos, in my experience.
