Transformers Studio Series General Discussion Thread

Redalerts are hexagon shaped which makes him stand out from other wfc I have but not TR.
*barricades are too but I really dont look at that figure too much with it looking like it has a head under his crotch and how I dislkie his alt mode.
Spinisters literal leg holes, they arent that bad in robot mode but it just ruins the cockpit in vehicle mode.
Reflector cartoon colors, though it is required for the design it really compromises the cartoon look. I'm way more accepting of them for his other versions.
*I completely forgot about siege primes smokestack holes from not having him, yikes they were fugly.
Hence why I hope SS doesnt get just wfc repaints as lots of the wfc also suffer from greebling that distracts from a cartoon look or a place for a nice crisp flat faction symbol. Prime wars didnt really suffer from that.
SS sometimes havent been screen accurate in the first place and some have opted to completely leave out the faction symbols -not sure if that is screen accurate or not as I dont really want to torture myself watching them again, even for the good bits. Just hoping the movie figures pull out all the stops.

It's that simple."
So, SS leader dinobots will finally be the budget MP figures we had all waiting for. Especially if there's no "voyager with armor" gimmick involved. If they do make them, it will sure be on the course of 2 years minimum in order to have the time to make them all and leave leader slots for other characters.

If this is the case, it would be awesome if he comes packaged with Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy and Ratbat to reflect the scene in the movie where Soundwave sends out all of his cassettes to attack Blaster, though I suppose if they did that it would probably bump up the price to more than an average Voyager?

They could also do the same thing with Blaster. Have a Leader set of a Voyager Blaster ($30) and 2 cassette packs ($10 each, so $20).Munkky wrote:Autobot N wrote:Maybe that Soundwave we saw with the leaked Thrust and Cyclonus is a SS 86 figure (though I'd prefer Blaster, personally).

First-Aid wrote:Leader Slag? Not too much different than Voyagers. If' I'm not mistaken (and I might be...my brain is sludge from studying so much), the voyager figs are about the same size as the leaders; the leaders though have the "extras" (Astrotrain has additional armor, Prime has his trailer, Shockwave had his boogie board, etc). That means that the only reason the Slag will be a leader class is because of the Daniel figure. He probably will be about the same size as the Leader Optimus or SLIGHTLY bigger, but no considerably bigger.
Depends how articulate the Daniel figure is. I think I had seen the initial leaker for it say that it would be like the Paratrooper from Shockwave's set where it wasn't transforming or anything, but had some articulation. This could mean Slag could be maybe a head taller than Prime and dense, or he could be mostly hollow to get taller if need be. If we see Grimlock at SDCC (because I feel like that'll be the big ticket reveal for Studio Series this year) we could get a sense of how big the Dinobots will be

Probably because vinyl doesn't get murdered by magnets or snarl up into eldritch knots.ZeroWolf wrote:Oh I know Blaster is cassette but I think vinyl sells better these days![]()
I'm guessing that the Leader price point will be used to make the Dinobots not only tall (ideally at least a head above CW Optimus) but also give them their full arsenals.
* Cyb. Galvatron key, missiles
* Omega Lock
* Primus Cyber Key, coattail panel
* Powerlinx Comettor
* Leader Sentinel Prime sword, shield
* RiD Galvy dragon head, beast arms
* Leader Ironhide windshield, R hood assy.
* Cyb. Wing Saber left chestplate (argh)

Depends on how it's marketed if it's a subline then yes but if it's just a different image on the lower part of the box like all he other different movies, then probably not. It's a wait and see game till the first figure is officially revealed.

And there's a perfectly good G1 centered line called War for cybertron that is cranking out 3 times the number of SS figures per year between waves and exclusives and by extension selects.
Put. Them. There.

We have a seperate thread for the Netflix subline which i think is the thrust here.
@D-Max look on the brightside, we're at least getting Jolt and Dino.

Sounds like a plan. It’s just kind of jarring for what’s been a movie figures thread to suddenly be overrun by G1.
