same here. i find myself surprised that UT made a combiner that has aesthetics i normally seek, but he's just too big. my scramble city combiners gotta be the same size as quantron, intimidator, and munitioner/explorer bruticus. i got a good thing going and aim to keep it that way.Mkall wrote:I decided against this for now. I don't want to spend money right now on something this out of place (IMO). Predaking should be the largest combiner on my shelves. This guy may just be too much for me.

I'm sorry, but your comment just reminded me of this...

Also plan to hold off on buying all 3rd party combiners. Waiting for NYCC in October to see what newer Combiners Hasbro reveals. Speculating HasTak in 2015-2016 will give fans most of the 1985-1986 combiners teams.
Think Combiners Wars Defensor is a given, Since Superion has that rescue heliopter. Shouldn't be too hard to do a Computron. Hoping to see a Combiners Wars Predaking, G-1 Bruticus and Abonimus. The Dinobots and Piranking would be nice.

im not too worried. the chances of hasbro making a combiner i like better than a 3P's is pretty slim. not saying they wont make any good combiners, just that they wont be on par. cause im not tossing my intimidator out the window just cause they made menasor. intimidator is still superior.Tsutsukakushi wrote:Also plan to hold off on buying all 3rd party combiners. either way, ill still be buying hasbros. if theres already a 3P version of him on my shelf, hasbros will likely stand with him in their seperate bot modes.

Not sure about the storage for the foot. I would have preferred if if they gave Abominus taloned feet and had the feet work as massive battle claws in the separated modes.
So far with the individual robots look great but the combined mode is so-so. If this is the only Abominus we get I might go for him, but if Hasbro or another 3P company makes a more monstrous and less "generic 80s combiner" looking version (my money is on TFC or MakeToys) I'll go for that.
(Also, am I the only one who think we should get a decent 3P version of ROTF Devastator? We're stuck with either a tiny Legends toy or a kinda crappy Supreme gimmick figure for one of the coolest combiner designs in ages...TFC, get on it!)

Summed up my thoughts exactly!

Size isn't as big a concern as it once was, since there's not many neo-G1 combiners I need anymore. I'm only getting one of each for my shelves, and the only one we haven't seen anything for is Piranacon. So if he's a bit big, that's not too much a deal-breaker for me.

It exists. It's called the knockoff industry.
That said, a size-changing raygun is the only way that Transformers' ludicrous grasp on scale could ever be properly represented in plastic, seeing as at the moment, "proper scale" seems to result in an F-15 Eagle smaller than a truck...
Yeah.

Normally, I'd be right there with you with regards to size and whatnot, but this is Abominus. He's the only full combiner I had as a kid and thus holds a special place in my heart as one of those that I must "OWN ALL THE THINGS!" for.

If a 3rd party would create a deluxe version of Hun-Gurr. that could combine with the BH Legends Terrorcons. Id be interested in something like this. Since the 1987 Terrorcons limbs bots were legends-commander scale. While 1987 Hun-Gurr was a Deluxe scaled toy.

Eh, it's Transformers. TFWiki has a whole damn page dedicated to the absurd relationship between our beloved brand and scale. When you throw non-vehicular alt modes into the mix it just gets worse. I think Unique Toys were drawing up the plans and thought "Eh, he's called Abominus and he's made of monsters, let's make him huge! That would be cool." And lo, a huge Abominus.
I'm still not sure if I'll buy this, although I won't repeat myself a 3rd time. Alternatively I might just buy another Energon Cruellock and 2 more Energon Divebombs and finally complete the "Energon Abominus". He's a brick but he looks cool and you don't have to make any modifications or track down rare or expensive figures.

Wouldn't mind if the 1987 Terrorcons limbs bots that were legends-commander scale went up to Deluxe scale. But going up to Voyager or Ultra toy scale is extremly oversized.
Having a 3rd party team leader core bot Hun-Gurr be Leader scale, Is even more oversized.
I'll hope and wait for the $80 2015-2016 HasTak Combiners Wars Terrorcons Abonimus. That has Deluxe scale limbs bots, With a Voyager scale Hun-gurr.

We still don't know how many combiners Hasbro is going to make, but I would think that Abominus is probably towards the end of the list, if only for the reason Hasbro can't reuse those molds with other combiners.

I'm gonna wait on this and see what else comes up from another company. I'm not entirely smitten with the combined mode to merit paying the price.
I want something good and ugly as my Abominus.

lots of people wont buy any of these combiners until theyre finished releasing. now weve even gotten to the point where people arent committing because another company right across the street might be making the same thing, slightly better or more suited to your tastes.
