UniqueToys G01 ManiaKing (Galvatron)
Re: UniqueToys G01 ManiaKing (Galvatron)
Regular TFs don't cost as much as 3rd party TFs, so they get a lot less scrutiny.
Really, it's the arm articulation that stops this from being the final word on Galvatron. I think the legs should be able to stand at attention, but there's no indication those arms will be fixed.

Isnt that more of a perspective issue than Springer being leggy?

Perspective can only do so much, and that's not a steep upward angle, either. Even in a straight on perspective, Springer's legs in this image are twice as long as his torso is tall, which is pretty close to the proportions of the Generations toy.
My main point is, images can be presented to support both sides of the argument.

30th Springer pulled off his Three modes better Defender did. Problem for 30th Springer was the slim legs makes him look puny.
Defender looks more tough due to him being more bulky.

Mania king appears to have universal shoulder joints. Elbow up & down joints. Their appears to be a few swivel joints in the arms.
Problem is Mania king doesn't appear to have any swivel joints in the wrist. Assembling those fist on sideways makes it look odd.
The feet appear to have some type of joint in them. I'd wager at least up or down or maybe side to side.
Since this has a January 2014 release date & it's almost November. my guess a You Tube early proto type video is coming in the next few weeks.

I really don't understand all the interest in this PoS... The arms are terrible and the legs feet almost as bad. Then it's undersized and over priced! Typical UT business practice
Yes, I agree that we need a decent Galvatron, but this ain't it
Personally I'd prefer to wait for someone else to get it right instead of forking out for another figure that will be replaced later on.

The more I look at it, the more I agree with you. I'll be keeping my Superlink Galvatron G until something better comes along.

Probably wouldn't ever replace him as my "Classics" Galvatron.

The alt mode of Superlink is a little lacking.
For a classics Galvatron...

I'd say Spinger's more the exception than the rule. And, to be honest, I may replace him with Defender again. While my Decepticons all have terrible, terrible scale the movie Autobots seem to get it right with S30th Springer being the sole exception.
In regards to Galvy's articulation ... well, that's exactly why he has terrible arm articulation! int he same way Knee articulation doesn't mean much if it bends the wrong way, elbow articulation also doesn't mean much if all he can do is put his hands on his hips. He needs a wrist joint at least and a lower elbow joint as well at best.
His feet I'll forgive. They don't bug me as much as those arms.

I used to think that about RtS Perceptor, FoC Blaster and FoC Soundwave. I now think they look great with my Classics set and hold Superlink Galvatron in the same light.Agamemnon wrote:Arctorro wrote:That is a Galvatron I wish I had!Mkall wrote:I'll be keeping my Superlink Galvatron G until something better comes along.![]()

I preordered mine from Big Bad. I think the scale is suitable, where he's just a little taller and significantly bulkier than his lieutenant. The feet don't bother me... but the arms may need a bit of tinkering.
Still, I've yet to see a better option for a "Voyager-ish" scale...

It's odd because every time I look at the figure, it looks worse.
Too small...
Too 'busy'...
Weird feet...
Weird wrists...
Superlink Galvatron G is still king for me, despite his sub-standard articulation and lovely lilac plastic

I saw news for ManiaKing AKA Dark Messiah on another website, however not as ManiaKing but as everything else so I couldn't find this thread in a search 'till someone gave me a link in another thread.

Re: UniqueToys G01 ManiaKing (Galvatron)
I've seen far worse 3rd party TF toys. I'm not saying manaiking is perfect,it has it's flaws. Even with the flaws it's still the best galvatron toy in existance. I'm buying one because it looks better than any Galvatron toy that's come before it
If maniaking does anything positive. It will be to ignite other 3rd party companies & Hasbro to create different Galvatron toys.

Hmmm, looks a lot nicer with some colour on it. I might have to reconsider my stance on this one, especially after getting hold of my Sharkies

Re: UniqueToys G01 ManiaKing (Galvatron)
from RK:
Here are some more info.
These pictures are a early test shot, without any paint applied.
The Plastic colouring will also be modified.
The painting will be close to the design Picture released some time ago.
The transformation process is quite complicated. Especially the legs.
We didn't take photos of the Cannon mode simply because we didn't figure out how it transform.
Painted Sample should arrive to us soon, hopefully next week.

That looks awesome ! I cant wait to see everyone eat their words and buy one. (Like I did with Orion) It's a freaking classics voyager Galvatron. We have all been begging for one for years. If the same exact mold was released by Hasbro for $25.99 this thing would have been met with nothing but praise. (like leggy IDW Springer) So don't hate on the figure. Hate on the fact that you don't want to drop a $115 and try to justify it by nitpicking petty stuff. This figure is pure awesome and just keeps looking better.

horns are too long and sharp, reminds me of a crescent moon, don't like the face sculpt, of course that's probably because its unpainted. And I don't see any wrist swivels!!
HUGE PASS!.... who am i kidding I'll probably get this.

Bingo on the bolded part. I'm not sure I'm ready to drop over a hundred bucks on something that I would love as a $25 voyager.
Of course, I wish all third party stuff was coming out as Hasbro instead, and with their pricing.
Ultimately, depending on what else is due, I might get this. I have the UT Sharkies, and QA is a concern for me. Fiddling with the Sharkies and FP Smart Robin at the same time is not helping my impressions of UT quality...

Still not liking it. If I collected TF: Prime, he'd fit nicely in there, but not on my Classics shelf.
That permanent bicep curl in his arms is still annoying.
