Have you ever looked at a toy in a new light and makes you think - this toy demands to be xxxxx, despite the fairly weak link with the original, or seen a repaint that doesn't make sense but just feels right?

My favorite example of this would have the be Universe Blaster -

The obvious thing for Hasbro to do was call him Blaster and generally crap on our childhoods. On the other hand, I think the figure is awesome and a repaint was definately in order - I just wish it was Swoop, with the minicon being Divebomb. There's something about the figure that for some reason to me, screams "Swoop"!

Are there any figures you can think of that don't fit the normal repaint logic, that for you (at least) makes sense?

Cybertron Red Alert should never have been repainted into Crankcase before being used for the obvious Trailbreaker.

Same with Cybertron Hot Shot and Tracks. Seriously, how many sports cars have a set of pop out wings?

With all the G1 repaints they were throwing out there, how did they miss those two obvious ones?

I always felt Energon Divebomb should have been repainted as Banzai-tron.

Or Cruellock in G1 Dinobot colours as Tyrannitron.

Defence Hot Shot/Roadbuster as Ruckus.

War Within Titanium Seeker as Windsweeper, Whisper and pre-Beast Terrorsaur.

Gigant Bomb as pre-Beast Rampage.

I did see a great photoshop of Classics Silverbolt as Brainstorm.

And the obvious ones:

Tidal Wave as Broadside

Clocker as Hot Rod

RID Ultra Magnus as Motormaster

Robormasters Mirage as Dragstrip.

So with you on this, tracks is.....tracks, that was some ingenuity in the 80's i gotta say that translated well and wasn't too tacky.

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
For those advocating Clocker as Hot Rod (I've seen it many times)... I can understand, but there's a more obvious one.

Windcharger.

He's 2/3 the size of 'typical' car mode TFs in alt mode, shorter than 'typical' car mode TFs in robot mode, his transform is even quite similar.

Preaching to the choir! Picked up him and Armorhide from Kohls clearance rack back when Classics first started up to use as Windcharger and Armorhide respectively. Sigh of relief when Botcon made Armorhide their Huffer.

Why bother? It's been done, just do a self-rename of Cybertron Swerve:

The robot mode might not be perfect, but besides making the Autobot symbol on the hood smaller, how could they make it any better?

Anyway, I have two contributions to this thread. The first, repaint Cybertron Optimus Prime into Guiltor!!! Galaxy Force Prime(red and black repaint) was close, but no cigar, and it wasn't a 'Con.

The other just screams "MISSED OPPERTUNITY!!!!"

Animated Cybertron Prime into Kup:

I'd of been all over that.
