On the Yahoo news article, if you click on the image you get this poster that looks pretty official: http://l.yimg.com/img.omg.yahoo.com/omg/us/img/83/a2/9019_3705651155.jpg?y=660&x=616&q=75&n=0&sig=Zvqw8NxIBWHyJFhaLEhOeQ--

Strange stuff. Another small item: "Longhaul" is one word.

THE DOCTOR: Alternate form has not been announced.

The Doctor? Will the Daleks be in it also? What about a sonic screwdriver for a weapon?

This probably isnt the whole cast, as although it is a spoiler about which characters are in it. It doesnt mention if any of the characters who were killed in the first film are coming back.

But from what i've seen. This is a pretty good list of characters although there are three things that bug me.

1) WHEELIE is a DECEPTICON? What has the world come to? Atleast if we have one Decepticon thats going to die then I think we know who it is going to be.

2) The Doctor. Who in the name of Primus is "The Doctor"? Are there any Time-Lords in the film, Do the Decepticons have the TARDIS? Does Soundwave use a Sonic Screwdriver and will Devastator start screaming out "EXTERMINATE"!

3) Devastator. They really need to think of a new name for this guy, Devastators name was already used in the first movie for Brawl. If people who have watched the first film see that Devastator and see the new movie and then see that Devastator then they will get confused if they are related or not.

Poster looks fake to me given they list Demolishor and Scavanger separately. I believe these names have been used to reference the same 'bot (large, red excavator). Plus the use of "the doctor" when we've already seen the toy list him as Scalpel.

Plus the poster design doesn't look very polished...very amateur. The white text doesn't fit with the theme of the rest of the poster.

Why is Demolishor no longer listed as a Constructicon?

I think I've mentioned before that I believe Demolishor will not be in the movie very long. His scene of crashing through the overpass I believe is part of the opening of the movie. If you look at the overpass, the road signs are in Chinese. I think he and Sideways are taken out at the beginning of the movie...perhaps with collateral fatalities of two of the three motorbikes (Chromia and the other as-yet-unnamed bike) which could explain their not being mentioned as well. As a result, I believe- despite the similarities- Scavenger and Demolishor are two seperate characters. And, if you look very carefully, there ARE 7 protoforms crashing in Egypt...with a total of 14 protoforms shown in the teaser (two in Paris, 7 in Egypt, 5 in the sea).
I also agree that "The Doctor" is very obviously Scalpel. The picture of him climbing on Sam is obviously a torture scene; however, if you look closely you can see metal fingers holding Sam down so the Doc can "work" on him. I believe that's Starscream...and was the scene from the trailer when he was being held down on the slab.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

You could be correct. The confusion is how the Hasbro official toy fair photos we see show us Scavenger as Image

and then Demolisher as
Image

They sure look very similar to me. The scavenger toy is less detailed probably because it is one of the 6 (or 7?) toys that form Devastator.

If they are two different characters then why do they have such a similar construction vehicle mode. If they are the same character, then why do we have two different names for one guy? I hate this confusion and I feel it could have been avoided by someone in Bay's camp or by Hasbro.

Rodimus2006 wrote:Demolisher was in all 3 parts of the Unicron Trilogy one of the few who was and survived until he got upgraded to Snow Cat.

Demolisher was only in the Armada Cartoon and Energon Cartoon, not the TF Cybertron cartoon. He was not reformatted to Snow Cat. Armada/Energon Cyclonus was reformatted to Snow Cat. When Demolisher was reformatted in TF Energon he was still called Demolisher (I think) and became a dump truck type of vehicle similar to G1 Long Haul but with weapon capabilities.

Looking at the conversations here, i feel it prudent to mention that skimming bold type is not the same as reading 2 articles and the previous posts.

With that being said...

Misinformation has been the name of the game since pre-pre-production.

Columnists are not likely to go digging out Fanboy knowledge for their articles. They are more likely to grab a couple positive comments from youtube or flickr and run with it as common sentiment.

My thoughts...

These discussions already began in this thread, here's my add.

There is enough 'empty' room inside Ravage to compress into a pretender if he was as big as mentioned. Example- the cell-phone bot from TF1, huge in robot mode compared to it's tiny alt mode. Also, nobody has heard Alice utter a single line.

Constructicons, either Demolisher was mislabeled in the article as not being a constructicon or Demolisher is no longer Demolisher when he is reformatted into Scavenger, Devastator's torso [thus ret-conning away the need for a proper combiner toy].

Meh, I'll stop here.

Interesting to read there might be SEVEN Constructicons. It would certianly tie in with this picture, released a while back, which shows seven vehicle-mode silhouettes in the background.

Image

1. Backhoe Truck ?? Overload???
2. Right Arm / Rampage - we've seen pics of the Deluxe toy
3. Torso / Demolishor (aka Scavenger) - the guy in the trailer
4. Right Leg / Dump Truck / Long Haul - we've seen the FAB toy pics
5. Left Leg / Bulldozer (I'm guessing Scrapper)
6. Head / Cement Mixer (presumably Mixmaster)
7. Left Arm / Crane (presumably Hightower)

So what's this missing backhoe truck? It appears on the pictures, it appears on the line-up list... but it wasn't seen at the toy fair?

I'm guessing that he might be a Targetmaster-style weapon (like the Seacons had), or maybe the stomach area of the body, similar to Long Haul's position in the G1 Devastator.

What do you think?

Actually, Skids and Chromia are characters from the G1 cartoon, they may not necessarily be based on the original G1 characters, but they do share the names.

I think that is the main cast, finally, after all the mis-information. Funny it was released on April 1. No Barricade. No Megatron. The poster looks like an official Paramount release, so that are there names, as far as Paramount is concerned. Bay could always do another Brawl/Devastator switcheroo.

"The Doctor" probably goes nameless in the film.

It leaves open my theory that "The Fallen" is somehow Megatron, or entered this plain by animating Megatron's corpse or something.

Something is screwy with the toys. A change in movie plans after toys could be changed? I'm going with the idea that "a bunch" of protoform Decepticons scanned a whole construction site worth of alternate modes and hid like that for a while until they combine directly from vehicles and stay like that until he is beat up. The toys don't have to exactly match the movie because Devastator merges from "a group of several random construction vehicles." Maybe even getting broken up at one point and forming from "several other random construction vehicles" Junkion style! There's no stopping them! [small](unless Sideswipe knows the universal greeting.)[/small] :P

Hmmm... That would explain his kind of open rib cage.

In fact, this may sound gross, but I wonder if inside incredibly flexible metal bulk might be a blob of organic matter, so that Ravage's bot to beast transformation effectively consists of turning himself inside out.

Anyone else oddly reminded of Species?

Of course, the disguise could be liquid metal in nature (like Kristana Loken in T:3), holographic (we've seen a lot of holograms so far), or simply a conventional transformation - the vehicle TFs don't leave behind visible seams when they return to alt mode, so why would a seemingly biological alt-mode be different? Although his disguise would fail on tactile inspection...

Also, I wonder if he'll actually 'change faces' throughout the movie, to keep everyone paranoid?

[The other reason I think he's likely to be "Alice" is because I think Michael Bay and crew would find the idea of a trans-sexual Transformer to be funny.]

I agree with you 100% on this. I guess I keep going back to Kurtzman's quote about Ravage having another skill set and everyone will be surprised. Ravage is supposed to be this incredible spy, right? I think the whole "Species" reference you made fills in nicely here. Incredibly hot chick turns out to be Ravage in disguise...makes for a cool story.

For some reason I don't want to agree with this idea, but the more I think about it, the more I could see it happening.

That or I could also go with whoever said about the theory that Ravage will become a gun for Megatron or maybe even Soundwave. I think I recall either Bay or one of the writers saying we'll have a transformer(s) transforming into weapons.

Given that it looks like he has a barrel recessed in his mouth (see pic at top of website) and his cyclopian eye evokes the sense of a scope, I won't dispute that possibility.
