Optimus was already pretty well articulated for the time so we could probably apply that to Soundwave. Better neck joint, more shoulder range, hand articulation, ab crunch, better hips and knees, and foot tilts. But what's really exciting is how they'll upgrade the tapes, they'll be taking the place of Bee and Cliff at that price point. Frenzy and Rumble with actual shoulders and knees, Laserbeak and Buzzsaw with vertical wing movements. I'm excited by the potential!

The casettes... If they make the main ones, meaning Lazerbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, Frenzy, Rumble, and they pack the whole gang together, we're in for something that will cost the same price or even more than the epic Hasbro MP Soundwave set from years back. But Takara may release Soundwave and Buzzsaw, then a Ravage/Laserbeak 2 pack, and finally, the Frenzy/Rumble 2 pack, like they did for their MP release.

Regardless, it will be pretty costly. :ic$:

The tapes were single packed in Japan so they'd be taking the same price point as Bumblebee and Cliffjumper most likely.

Buzzsaw is going to have to wait for a Soundblaster to get his release. I wonder how they'll do a second release for the Ravage Mold? Would they finally do Cobalt Sentries again?

That may be the case for the Takara G1 originals, but I was talking about the Masterpiece.

So far all of the Missing Link figures have been packaged the same way as the original Japanese releases (new characters and extra repaints not withstanding) just with new character art.

It's unlikely the tapes would do anything different.

Yup. There's high chances. So I expect Soundwave packed with Buzzsaw, and the four other cassettes being individual releases priced as much as the minibots. Getting everything will be quite prohibitive.

All except for the cartoon-colored Bumblebee and Cliffjumper two-pack, that is. That one's a unique release not based on the original Japanese packaging since there was no such two-pack of those two back in the day in Japan.

Yep, that's why I said "extra repaints not withstanding". The two pack, Sentinel, Cordon, both Arcees and Nemesis didn't exist back in the day. And now that I think about it, we've now got several more figures in this line that didn't exist previously than did.

Any chance Takara will do Missing Link VS boxset back in the day? Some characters only appeared in VS boxset in Japan, if I'm not mistaken.

They've already released Sunstreaker by himself when his only Japanese release was originally in a VS set.

There's no telling or predicting what Takara will do with this line. It's a line that thrives on surprise and unpredictability.

One thing that could come out of the left field that would surprise us all is if they make a Missing Link Unicron, based on that prototype like they did for Arcee.

Bingo, and this is the fun part. Well, one of the fun parts.

Like we see with the numerical designation on Nemesis, they're going to do whatever they can imagine regardless of how consistent or not it is with previous releases.

Missing Link Fort Max. And Brave Max, just to recoup costs.

Whenever you're willing to fork over $1000 plus shipping and tariffs for each of them. :P

All the emails his royal highness sent out during the late 2000s can certainly attest to that. ;)

I'll crap my pants if Takara decide to release the individual mini cassettes & command the same premium price.

I would really love a Missing Link Scorponok, even if it would cost the same or more than a titan. But a Missing Link Fortmax would be indeed HASLAB Unicron priced.
