But how do they get OFF planet?
The new discussion about protoforms led me to ask something that I've wondered about all summer:
I can accept how the Autobots arrived on Earth. But how are they supposed to get OFF the Earth if they have to return to space? How do Autobots anywhere else in the galaxy leave their respective planets, too?
The only thing I can come up with (and it's mentioned in the books) is that they have their ship out there somewhere. So are they going to remote-control it down if they ever need an egress from Earth?

I'll agree with you on the remote lander for launching into space.
Another possibility is what SS did... He just flew away into space with his alt mode. They take a "flight" mode and... well, leave.
Beyond that, maybe they are fragged. Lucky for them they arrived on a technological world, otherwise it would have been a Beast Wars movie.
Peace!

I'm not sure how well ground based protos would be at taking off. Entering is fine, but leaving, that must be hard. Of course, all they need to do is have the writers decide if they can take off or not, and that will be our answer lol..

Reminds me of that episode of The Simpsons where they create Poochie the Dog and then have to get rid of him...
"I have to go now. My planet needs me."
(animation cell with Poochie shifts upward)
Krusty: "Poochie's DEAD!!!"
(children in audience cheer wildly)

why would advanced robots CRASH land?
Why would these same robots smash into the group and THEN look for disguises - isnt it a bit late if you've just landed in the middle of a park at 12 noon?
..or in a football stadium with 80,000 people there?

Ever.
As for taking off, I hadn't thought about it. I'm thinking its impossible for them to have enough power to launch themsevels out of the atmosphere, that'd take a LOT of energy, and if they had that much at their disposal, they'd probably have used it in the battle with Megs to trash him quick and easy.
So... I'd say... They... jump... really really... hard... into the air..
Yup.

What about a world without technology OR organic lifeforms...only rocks
...But I think they'd build a catapult in that event...
Man that would suck, scanning a rock...

i say that re build a ship and call it the arc...i mean there gonna be on earth and when TF2 comes out what 1-2 yrs are gonna pass? there gonna need an HQ....so they build one. with them being so technicaly advanced it would be silly if they had no hitech HQ/ship.

I think its really irrelevant since Cybertron is a wasteland, and without the Allspark, it cant be revived. Thats why they choose to remain on Earth to watch over the humans

I agree.
I am sure they have been to many different worlds, and have each stored in memory a form that will give them the ability to fly away to another world if they so wished or needed to. The asteroids was simply a disguise. Earth's satilites will not take notice as much to a few small asteroids crashing down on the planet as a few robots, or alien ships would.

How they get back into space and onto the ship is a mystery, one that will probably never be revealed. It's a logical proper question, and logical, proper questions scare films like Transformers.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

If they all had a means of leaving the planet by simply changing forms like starscream, couldn't they have just done that and left with the cube

District 9, what Transformers could have been ...

Same reason they had "disguises" on Cybertron. I guess it just makes them feel special.

1. Maybe they go into their databanks for past forms and 'mentally' scan the protoform?
2. They scan the form of a flying vehicle....but this leaves the question of what if Earth or any other planets they landed on HAD no flying vehicles?

I hate to compare the two but the Armada bots arrived via Space Bridge but still needed to build ships to return to Cybertron.
Same principal maybe
Or maybe without the AllSpark, they believe Cyberton dead(which I think they where kinda getting at) and maybe see no point in leaving.

And so is this British, Tony Blair chimmed in on this current war just as much as our president. Don't feel so high and mighty though that his term in office expired before Bush's does. More than less of us look forward to him being out!
Americans may be desensatized, but trust me, we are not all overweight media driven cattle like that sig portrays.
You want prof, look who comes to your aid next time someone wants to pick an invasive fight and your royalties courage faulters. It's gonna happen sooner or later.
American's are free thinking, strong, and always happy to prove it to anyone who brings it

Honestly, we're just as much like that picture as you guys. And no, not ALL you guys, I'm not gonna generalise or stereotype.
And I also know nothing of the whole war thing, I can't be bothered to keep track anymore.
...Although, I did glimpse a news article that read 'Brown Iraq Policy', obviously on Gordon Brown's policy on Iraq and read it as 'Drown Iraq Policy'. Thats as far as my interest in the Iraq situation goes.
ANYWAY... No politics at the table.
As I say. They jump.

Maybe when the the 5 Autobots got off and started traveling to Earth, the ship was destroyed and the rest of the Autobots were "flying" in deep space and had to live among the stars.

How did they maneuver to Earth in squidball form, when Bumblebee borrowed the Bat Cave signal, and send it thru the sky?

You mean when he signaled them for his location and the location of the Cube? Well they saw the signal and "landed" there.
