Stuff that would ruin the movies for you

Assuming you don't already hate the movies for whatever reason, what things could Bay try that would instantly turn you off?

Personally, I would HATE it if he tried some freakish Transformer/human romances. It's not likely given that Bay would rather blow things apart than bring them together but in same weird, unlikely way I can see him doing it.

I did have more but I can't think of them... Your turn.

This has to be at the top of my list. My general response to robot/human romances has been vomit, shudder, punch someone in the face, rinse, repeat. Even Armada Starscream/Alexis made me want to try to kill braincells to destroy the memories.

I can't decide which would be worse, actually, "male" bot with human female (icky icky icky shades of Kiss Players), or "female" bots with male humans.

This is a really hard question to answer, because all of the little things that I hate in movies, he's done, and I have tolerated: testicle jokes that make middle schoolers roll their eyes; Jarjar retreads; inventing characters (who suck); taking existing charcters and misusing them (Jazz, Sideways); possibly offensive racial/sexist stereotypes; the Moralistic Sledgehammer of Stupid Meaning that he gleefully hands off to Optimus at the end of each film to tell us what it's all supposed to mean, even though it makes no sense....

I suppose the only thing he could do worse is to blow the soundtrack. You know, slooooww operatic wailing during fight scenes. Or long scenes of nothing but robot talking-head dialogue. I'd pass on robot on robot sex, as well. (I am notoriously prudish about these things).

Hrm. Let me sleep on it. I'm sure horrors will breed in my brain.

HK, debating the wisdom of speaking such unspeakables....

Hmm... I've pretty much tolerated some of the stuff everybody complained about in movies 1 and 2, but if there's anything that would ruin Movie #3 for me...

1) Any scenes that are highly unnecessary and will only slow the movie down
2) Any additional and unnecessary human characters
3) Unicron -- I'm sorry, there's just no way they could ever work a giant planet-eating robot in the movies
4) Galvatron -- let's just stick to Megatron; anybody new to the Transformers franchise would never know the whole Megatron evolving into Galvatron thing

Motto: "Build a Giant Robot? Sure it's safe, I mean...it's not like two Stars from a childhood tv show are going to hotwire it and take over the world....right?"
Hum, perhaps if he continues to make things explode and burn up for no reason.

Or continues with a lack of story. I mean don't get me wrong, TF1 wasn't no Moby Dick or even Treasure Island....but I liked it. This one however....wow. Just wow....and thats Wow in a bad way. Think about that, how bad does something have to be when you refer "Wow" as an exclamation of "BAD".

Continuing to try to reinvent characters. You think reinventing Bumblebee as a camaro is this all powerful thing that you go off re-inventing every other character for the sake of...well who knows at this point. No, if a character doesn't fit into your story, don't include them....don't try to reinvent them in some way that they turn out NOT BEING THAT CHARACTER! Just Dont Do Them.

If he doesn't kill off the twins. I mean even Lucas looked back at Jar Jar and just slashed that character down in terms of on screen treatment. Take a note from your elders Bay, and do some hacking. Spielberg, if he doesn't listen, call in Lucas so you all can have that special talk.

If you get rid of Megan Fox.....lets face it, it's one of the few things that kept me in the theatre....that and disorientation being I sat to close for my screening of ROTF. Was like watching The Blair Witch and Die Hard....jeez. And speaking of that!

Pull your camera shots back man. Zooming in to the point where you see nothing but motion blur and gears and fire does not turn up the intensity meter of your shot, it just makes someone more dizzy! Pull-it-back. You can still blow s%@t up, just let us know WHAT your blowing up. Hell even the pointless banter between Megan and Shia....

"I love you more, no I love you more, well we both aren't going to say it....but I love you more"
That camera was flying everywhere. Just.....try to keep one steady shot, for more then a minute please.

Robot sex....too late. Isn't that what we witnessed in ROTF with Alice. I suspected the Doctor and the Matrix bug nose thing was what the Happy Ending was going to be anyways.

Bring back Rachel Taylor and John Voight. Taylor being she can actually act worth a lick, and Voight being he's just that good, and I'm guessing in this third film your going to need all the acting help you can get.

Keep complaining about doing car chases. I mean, you took on a franchise revolving around robots that TURN INTO CARS! You think that was the wisest choice if you wanted to stop doing car chases there buddy. Huh?

Dinobots. If you do them, keep them Dinobots. Not Cars or Trucks with Dinosaur stickers on them or some tiny gremlin kitchenbot or remote control toy trying to hump Megans leg. Giant- Effin-Dinosaur-Robots! If you really wanna keep doing your "Popcorn escape from Reality" movies ad throw story out the window. Fine. Compensate for your lack of story with some truly awesome visuals...that being Grimlock bitting off the head of a cloned Constructicon. (We all know were going to see more cloned villans. Might as well make them useful then just serving as a plot hole).

Thats it for now.
Laters,
Josh

Hit that one right on the head. Voight is just great, and Rachael Taylor is so much more attractive than Megan Fox. And I'm not even into blondes.

Other than robot nookie, one thing Bay could absolutely do wrong: Unicron. If it ever gets to that point, I have a feeling it will go down the same path as FF2 did with Galactus. Bay makes the movies for the general audience, not for Transfans. And for the general audience, a planet-eating Transformer, especially with the G1 comic mythology backstory, which would also involve Primus, is just too much, I think. So hopefully, Unicron will NOT be in TF3, unless it can be done properly. Other than Prime and Megatron, Unicron is the one constant in TF continuity, I'd hate to see his concept (along with his image, because no way he'll be yellow and purple like he's supposed to be) tarnished.

I don't think they're going to bring in Unicron anytime soon. If they do, it's going to be down the road in film 5 or 6.

I also doubt that we're going to see any legit human/Transformers intimate relationships. Although, Mikaela and Sam making out on top of Bumblebee at the end of TF1 was kind of weird. But I don't even think we'll see a Transformer/Transformer relationship on screen. It would be too alienating for the general audience. So I feel no worries in this area of discussion.

But if Michael Bay is signing for the third. I'm curious as to how it's going to play out. It will be the first time he's done a threequel, and it's no secret he likes to top off what he did in the previous in terms of action sequences.

whoa whoa whoa there making 6 TF movies altogether? jesus christ 3 is enough ussually the 3rd movie is the worst or semi good movie but then after that you milk the series and the movies come out like crap. Look at spider man and the matrix the 3rd movie was bad on each of them. Hopfully TF 3 will be better than ROTF b/c welll the was prettty bad I mean everything right before the forest fight was good but right after that its just plain garbage

I don't know what COULD ruin the movie-verse even more for me... I mean, the autobots allready are bloodthirsty killing machines, the decepticons are falling from human weapons (next time I bet they will be killed from spears and slings), and minicons are firing rockets from their crotches.

Maybe bringing in Daniel Witwicky, and making Wheelie his guardian. Or bringing in the dinobots just to be blasted to pieces.

Daniel wouldn't be bad, as long as he wasn't Sam's kid.
Maybe, bring him in as a younger cousin or something.

Blasting the Dinobots would ruin it for me too.

I am totally in love with Rachel Taylor. I am into blonds for one, and I love chicks with accents. And I luv Aussies!!!!!
Everyone is saying foul on Unicron, and the reason is very valid. It's not the concept of Unicron that people are yelling foul on, it's the concept of Michael Bay doing Unicron which I whole heartedly agree with. I mean I luv Unicron, I like the character and the concept and everything....but after seeing Devastator.....I'd rather he stay away from the characters I like till this third film comes out and either proves or disproves he's the worst when it comes to character re-invention.

I mean, I would hate a scene where Unicron is taken out by a fleet of Destroyers all carrying that Rail Gun gag. Or rather a Space Shuttle with a Rail Gun.... #-o

I'd LOVE to see the Astoria Carlton-Ritz / Powerglide story updated and put as the romantic focus in the next movie. It would work hundreds of times better than the Sam/Mikaela corny summer flick romance.

Of course we don't need Robot On Human sex. We just need the protection that Powerglide could give to a girl. Appleseed does that and it ROCKS.

Exactly. Unicron is too iconic a character to be abused like that. I mean, Devastator wasn't a big green and purple robot, but at least he was made out of construction vehicles that resembled the G1 Constructicons. If the wrecking balls weren't there, the Devastator sequence would have been alright, even with the way he died. I'm willing to buy the rail gun, because it had already been in the G.I. Joe TF crossover comics. And Isabel Lucas was also hotter than Fox.

I mean, I would hate a scene where Unicron is taken out by a fleet of Destroyers all carrying that Rail Gun gag. Or rather a Space Shuttle with a Rail Gun....

Or, send Epps, Lennox, and a few others up on a space shuttle, so they can drop some nukes into Unicron's...oh...wait...

I think I am tending to go with majority on this one.

Unicron, although I do love the concept and character, Bay doing it, I don't know it's not really for me, might just end up turning into Transformergeddon.

I don't think the Dinobots should be in it. I didn't like them, I thought they were stupid (I know they were meant to be) but they just annoyed me and it would become too much a kids film if they brought them into it.

Killing off the existing current Autobots in the film, I don't like this idea, Optimus has been killed once already I don't think they would make the mistake of doing it again. Or for that matter killing off favourites like Bumblebee, Ironhide or Ratchett.

I am hoping there is no robot romance, although I don't see this happening either, I could barely cope with the Sam/Mikeala romance it just wasn't quite believable for me, thrown in to distract from the true story, the Transformers, in my opinion.

If Starscream wasn't in or was killed off too that would make me sad, he is a great character need to see him developed more.

Agreed on both. One of the major annoyances of ROTF for me was how everytime Mikaela showed up, all she wanted was to get Sam to say he loved her. (I'm sure some of you gentlemen were noticing other things than the words coming out of her mouth). It got pretty old. I kind of liked her parading around in skimpy outfits like she did in the first one. And no, I can't believe I just said that either. But skimpy and hot is better than whiney and clingy and even I will admit it.

Starscream I dearly hope doesn't die. I thought for sure he was going to be killed off in ROTF. I still fear they'll do it for the next one. At the very least, to ramp up the action, SOMEONE big has to die, like *permanently*. The only thing that give me hope is that, honestly, he hasn't had a lot of character development. He had 2 lines and an eyeblink in the first movie, and a lot of snivelling in this one. It's in line with G1ers, I suppose, but if you don't already *know* the character, that's not a lot to build any real attachment to.

Another thing that would ruin the movie for me would be young kids as major players. Like preteens. Whatever Bay says, his movies aren't really for little kiddies. And a child/giant robot relationship would be just as nauseating as a romance. Unfortunately, I could totally see a six year old on Optimus's shoulders in a Bay flick.

I really just don't want the Decepticons to be wusses again.

Yup I'm with you on the hot and skimpy is better than whiney and clingy part. If she's in it give her a bigger part to play or at least one where she can stand up for herself rather than run around screaming "Saaaammm" a lot

I really don't want little kids in it either... yuk!! I am imagining awful cliches right now...sigh... Optimus is not gonna be a baby sitter NOOOOO!!!

I watched the first movie the G1 movie tonight (he he he) I have to admit Unicron is a pretty awesome bad guy, I still don't think he would work in live action though. You're right helkitty villians should be scary, or at least bad ass enough to put up a good fight...

Having the film go to an entirely different direction like with human bad guys would probably spoil it for me too...but I can't think of what else they could do to make the next film bigger than this one with regards to action... :???:

Funny you talk about kiddies in a Michael Bay film. While it is a Michael Bay film, don't forget one of the producers is Steven Spielberg, who loves kids. I totally believe the whole thing with Ironhide coming out of the pool and stepping over the wide eyed little girl had Steven Spielberg all over it! With that said, a friend of mine actually thought it could be cute, even if it was just a 2 minute scene, where Ironhide has to babysit the Lennox kid while they went in to gran something in a store. And it could be cute, in an ironic sort of way. A tough guy like Ironhide, having to watch a pretentious 4 year old!

And young kids in perilous situations can work out effectively. Just look at the kids in Jurassic Park. They held their own while showing their vulnerability at the same time.

Yeah you have a point. Jurassic park worked well. When kids hold their own and aren't whiney and/or annoying it can work. A scene with Ironhide babysitting would be ironic and quite amusing.

I do like irony...

Ok I am slightly more open to kids being in the film it probably wouldn't ruin it for me, especially if Speilberg had a more active role then definitely, he puts kids in his movies quite expertly, some of them can be better than the adult actors.

You realize now that if this happens, ESPECIALLY if there's an Ironhide babysitting scene, I will hold you personally responsible. My vengeance will be swift and terrible. Okay, kind of slow and not really that scary.
