Nice attempt at the evil Grimlock, I'm not completely sold on it however... Can't wait til animated Grimmy though.

I am digging Jazz though. What mold is that? New?
Its Cybertron Crosswise. The head sculpt is new though.

Hmm, too bad. I was hoping for a whole set of Classics repaints. I'm really not feeling this set right now. Might end up being a pass for me.

Re: BotCon Jazz and Grimlock Revealed!
So far, this set has two winners and two losers for me... Prime and Grimlock look like Hasbro wasn't even trying... BWX Megatron would have been an AWESOME choice for Grimlock (and would have given him the needed height to pull off being the bad@$$ he actually is. This guy just looks like Trypticon's baby brother... wimpy. And Prime... he's just a *VERY* basic recolor of his original form (red to magenta, blue to dark gray), with some 'battle damage' on him that won't be consistent over the whole figure. He looks less like a villain than a zombie, if you ask me.
Jazz and Goldbug, though, are pure win. Both sport significantly different looks than their original forms, not even accounting for the resculpting. Both are figures that've been very hard to find in a 'classics' type of sculpt.
I'm thinking that Starscream is going to make or break the set for me. If it is the Galaxy Force repaint we've just seen - well, we'll see. I'm still hoping (despite all contrary indications) for a resculpted Energon model, without the unnecessary battle damage.

That looks like one of the ugliest jazzes in history. At least in my opinion.
This not badass. It's so BAD, it's ASS!

The only one I ever saw that looked remotely like this one was the black and purple prototype for the original toy.

Because it is a repaint? That's kind of the whole point behind a repaint?
Anyways, I'm also not fond of Jazz, and this entire set is starting to lose its appeal. Not to say that I wouldn't want one, but it's just not too thrilling.

i'll admit, what makes me cringe about any hobby are exclusives. it appeals less to the appreciation of a mould for its own qualities rather than that of owning a rare version, in all the hobbies ive persued im happy to know that i just dont have the junkie completist mentality which items like this are made to torture.
i dont care for the moulds eitherway. jazz has had some effort put into it though.

So far I am not overly impressed with this set. I am sure that it will sell out and probably triple in price, but I think that I will pass on it.

Re: BotCon Jazz and Grimlock Revealed!
I'm usually not a hater- as a I love all things TF. I have the Dawn of Futures Past set and love it. (Don't get me started on how awesome last year's set was!) This set however, isn't doing it for me. I feel like this is a huge investment for what are essentially decal sets that could be bought through reprolabels for a fraction of the cost.
Perhaps they'll look cool when they're all assembled?
Also- Jazz? I feel like the style of his head doesn't quite match the body.

I really like the Grimlock repaint. I think the colors just work on that mold. I'm not a huge fan of the Cybertron Crosswise mold, so that's an instant turn off for me with Jazz. His paint scheme looks good though.
And secondly, what the hell guys? Last years set was too good and this years isn't good enough? Is everybody here frickin' Goldilocks?!

Well, I'm less than Impressed. Jazz is cash worthy but Grimlock's a copout. They repainted Grimlock into Grimlock? I kinda prefer the Trypticon approach.

This Grimlock is one repaint that doesn't make any sense. The mold didn't become somebody else. It's just Grimlock wearing an unfamiliar color. What's the logic in this?

Like the new evil Prime the logic is Grimlock is now evil and the Decepticon colors have been placed on them to try to sell the idea that this is a change that if in this alternate reality if they are evil, the colors they wear would change...
See it's always been about the colors they chose to wear. It was never about the badges or deeds. The colors of purple, dark grey, pastel green, dark blue, black those are evil colors when put together in combinations...
Megatron will be red and blue BTW.

I'm favoring the Jazz mold here, even though he's not transformed properly. Grimlock looks okay, but I'm just not a huge fan of the Classic version's robot mode.
I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

They transformed Jazz specifically to hide the back/side kibble.
kind of a weak move imo.

I see a lot of love for the Jazz, but I'm just not feelin' it.
I was never a fan of the mold, and he looks too bobble-headed for me.
I kinda like Grimlock in the eeeevil colors. Very trypticon, as expected, but cool none the less.
Ironically the one I like best so far is goldbug. (I shudder at that sentence!)
