Yeah, man. There's no shame in trying to do the near-impossible and then backing out. No shame at all. You did your best, and that's all anyone can ask for. Thanks for all the work you put into it.

But seriously, you did what you could. And no one here hates you because you've stepped down. Pulling the strings for HMW is a very tough job.

Indeed.
No need for appologies, you gave it you're best shot.
Hopefully SD is given a shot and he can pull something out, if not....

Oooo, Windy came out of the woodwork to post. Now we know it's srs bzns!
Like everyone else has said, there's no need to apologize to us, Mkall. You took a chance, did what you could, and for that we're all appreciative. Thank you for giving it a shot when it seems like no one else would.

No need for apologies. You did the best you could and you learned something from it. I'm sure all of us are thanking you for at least trying to get it working.

I'll be honest, from my (limited) experiance of programing, I could have predicted this. I very much apreciate the effort mkall has put into it, but to expect someone hwo has never touched php to make hmw into a streamlined game was always a little nieve.
Why have we lost the second server? Does Ryan not relaise how many people are parto of this site simply becuase of HMW?

Well, now we just don't have a programmer. They don't get paid to spend all their spare time preparing a game for us to play, that's why OS left, to spend time with family, etc. I applaud Mkall greatly for not just sitting around, but he's still young, and never had exp with it before. Hopefully somewhere along Ryan's path he'll come up on someone who loves to do this kind of thing, if not, this site will have to move on. The forums always were the top priority here, and if they're not good enough, go to TFW2005 instead or just do something else. Ryan has a good site here, this is a shame, but a small price to pay.

Bad luck Mkall, but, you, tried, and at least you got something out of it, personally, you're cool for even trying in my books, so well done.
BTW, does this mean that SD is the lead programmer, or is Mkall pulling the reigns while SD fixes the code? I'm not sure personally, so an answer would be nice.

While I am fully behind the idea of HMW V2, and all sorts of updates and improvements, I must say this: I, for one, would rather have HMW exactly as it is today than not have it at all. I say we just keep running the game as-is until we find someone with both the experience and the ideas to move it forward.

Fixxxxed.
Though ideas aren't overly necessary. There's enough of us around to tell the person what we want. The less new ideas they have to think up the more time they can dedicate to coding!

I think we have more than enough ideas already concocted to make a V2 awesome. All that's needed is people that can make it happen.
It may not be as efficient as having just one person running things, but I really think the load will ask for a team working together to make it happen.

When I first heard there was going to be a reset, I got angry. Even though I had less than a million xp, I didn't want to lose everything. But of course I realized the point, there are people at the top who might want to start over, there are others besides me
, and some people just plain like playing this game! I got increasingly excited, and then was angry when it kept getting pushed back. I had even made a xp milestones in my bios like Sprokitz. But through all the new features I heard about, there was one I wanted the most-alt modes. I would forget everything else if we could have them now. I think Mkall said earlier he was going to start bringing them in, are those held back as well? For me, the new alts ARE V2. I can live without the warmap and all, although that stuff would be really great, it is very complex. So...can we have our alts, if possible? Or are they already on their way?
