Yeah, but at the same time most bios are kinda crap. Basically "He's the best guy EVER!" over and over; grab another figure just to see if maybe, just maybe he's a little more interesting but nope, yet another "best guy EVER!"
And then sometimes the toy's bio doesn't even fit with the show's (see: Knock Out) and you wonder why you even bothered reading it since you've already been "sold" on the character anyways.

True, but I would still want to read any Decepticharge bio

Nope, that's Armada you're thinking of. (And Energon and the first Universe toyline, but Armada started first so that's where it began).

Looking closer at these, I'm kinda disappointed at how simplified these are. I wish Hasbro would divert some of the budget and love that's been given to the Generations line to the newer figure lines. The AoE toyline was hugely disappointing, and these don't look any better. Perhaps they've decided that anyone old enough to appreciate complex toy engineering won't care about anything that isn't GEEWUN (or at least a homage to an existing character/series). If so, that really sucks.New designs/series deserve just as much attention as ones from 30 years ago, if not more so.

It's almost as if Hasbro designs these toys for children, as they have since 1984. It's hard to believe they haven't switched their strategy to designing collectibles for fussy adults who nit-pick everything and are never happy.

I totally agree. The animated line had that extra push you are describing and it turned out great so I wonder what is going through their heads with this line. Are the simpler transformers really selling more than the more advanced ones?

Anyways, I was curious about your thoughts on the AOE toyline. It has actually been the toyline I enjoyed most so far in terms of the toys made for the on screen characters. I dislike the alien esthetic of the previous films and how they would result in weird toys that were full of car kibble. Some of the Leader were pretty awesome (Starscream, ROTF Optimus and Sentinel Prime) and there were some great molds that were done on the side of charcters that didn't appear (skystalker, skyhammer and mindwipe). But for the rest (bumblebee, ironhide, sideswipe, arcee, crancase, the wreckers, blackout, etc), I had a really tough time with the alien esthetic.

AOE is pretty interesting this time with its dinosaurs, which I feel are a fun way to see how Hasbro and Takara have evolved in terms of this many transforming animals (it has been a loooong time. And I think they are all funin their own way with great kibble integration. And I like some of the cars too. The drift is very well done. Detailed and not as alienating as the previous movie toys. Same goes with Hound (I dont own the others). The only one that I feel is too remenescent of the past movie lines is Lockdown. Very ittle alt mode integration, and too much kibble, in a very alien design. He's like every other movie tf that is just a figure with already fully formed limbs squished trapped inside the shell of a car that will just hang off his back.

I understand your point. But how do you explain the attention to detail in the Animated line and First Edition Prime Line, to replicate the on screen characters as well as possible with the complexity needed?

I'm with you William-James. The less alien and the less shell-formery, the more I like them.

And no faking transformation with extra car grills and cockpits. That stuff is insulting. If toy designers could engineer better than that in the 1970s, we can avoid those pitfalls in the 2010s. We have computers now, yo. No skimping, even if it's a simpler transformation.

Totally agree. That's why I don't mind AOE Drift as much as others do. He didn't look alien (looked more human actually)and the back kibble is his actual back and not a back pack. And the whole side of the car that would be hanging off shoulders of previous movie lines (cough Sideswipe cough)becomes his samurai armour. He's simple, but they didn't cheat anywhere. The small car front segment that is used in his robot mode detaches from the rest of the car front so that it is the same part used. That goes a long way for me. Compare that to AOE Lockdown who has 2 lamborghini symbols in robot mode. One split on his chest and the other one on his ass.

Or simply compare the First Edition Prime Cliffjumper to the RID Cliffjumper

I'll be taking a wild guess that:

- TAV05 is "Fixit"
- TAV09 is Swoop or Swerve, taking character misreading into account

So TakaraTomy too, huh? Something tells me it'll go the way of Prime with ratings (it bombed).

Also, I would like to point out that we can guess which are getting the deluxe treatment by looking at the price the 2,500$ would be warrior class I am assuming.

the voyager class toys seem to have been replaced by the 3 step changers since they are at a similar price point and size

i see....... prowl might become a decepticon due to the that prowl relates to a cat walking slowly and dreadwing? he might be resurrected due to the fact he was killed in prime by megatron with a fusion cannon due to him trying to kill starscream. but im not sure if this is true, this list.

fro the beginning i always thought that dreadwing would become jetfire. he just seems like that kind of guy

Roadblock might be Drift. Just going by the order of American releases.

I'm curious if Knockout and Dreadwing will be re-appearing in RID15. Knockout survived the events of Predicons Rising , and apparently turned Autobot (or at least joined the winning side).

It's entirely possible he may pop back up in this series. He could always be one of the escaped Decepticons. They could have a field day writing his reappearance. Having him suck up to Bumblebee and try to squirm his way out of being imprisoned.

Dreadwing could also show up. I know he died in Prime, but if Transformers died for good in every series...well, you wouldn't have any series.

Is it possible that RiD Dreadwing shares a name with Prime Dreadwing, but is not the same guy?

Why would Knockout want to escape? He pulled a full defection in Predacons Rising, and the Autobots let him stick around.
