They do use "Comic Universe" for Marvel UK-original character Impactor, while the similar comic-original character Jhiaxus is instead labeled as "G2 Universe".ZeroWolf wrote:blackeyedprime wrote:By equal measure that if they are mentioning diaclone as a universe and they aren't mentioning IDW as one at all is just as great XD
They probably think they'll be confusing people by having to specify which IDW comic universe it's from, like imagine if they did a character that originated within the Marvel UK comic line... in fact they may not designate comic universes for that reason.

Probably that. I just asscoiate the word Universe with Transformers as being repaints from anyhwere in transformers due to the old toyline than specific set Universes anyways. A Universe Universe labelling would probably be more confusfing than comic universes listing

Did you know Cheetor actually has an official old man lion upgrade?

These universe labels are nonsense. Hasbro can pretend that they mean anything of value all they want, but they're just blah. Esepcially Impactor's "Comic Universe" label when he's a G1 character too.Emerje wrote:Isn't it a little weird that "Diaclone Universe" is a thing? Since the premise is that a bunch of characters from non-G1 universes are coming over into a G1 universe, the default universe that Legacy is set in is the "G1 Universe" and thus doesn't need to be labeled in Hasbro's eyes.Emerje wrote:Speaking of which, where's "G1 Universe"?

As opposed to "Robots in Disguise 2015 Universe Strongarm" and "Robots in Disguise 2015 Universe Steeljaw" that we'll be getting in a future Legacy line--if there's any justice in the universe(s).
We're not going to see "Aligned Universe" on packaging after all.
ZeroWolf wrote:I thought Emerje's point was more that Robots in Disguise was more commonly put as Robots in Disguise 2001 (with Car Robots having debuted in 2000)
It feels to me like Hasbro wanted to have its cake and eat it too, wanting to use the "Robots in Disguise" name of the English version, but still retain the original year of the toys' first release in any market, trying to please everyone but ultimately pleasing no one.Emerje wrote:At least it ended up somewhere I guess. Bingo! They came so close to making another fan term official (like G1), but got the year wrong. Hasbro didn't release Car Robots so there's no reason for them to use 2000 here and there's no longer any question that this figure is Scourge from the 2001 line now. Back then (I don't really see it used anymore), before RID2001 we were calling Car Robots "Car Robots 2000" because that name itself was borrowed from the original Diaclone toy car line that gave us much of the '84 lineup.

There's always the crowd that would go "Um, AKSHUWALLY, the original toys were first released in Japan the year before in 2000, so it should say 2000 not 2001!"Emerje wrote:Not really sure who they're trying to please with the 2000, though.
I doubt it, since every Generations toy shared between Hasbro and Takara since Power of the Primes has kept its Hasbro name in the Takara releases.Emerje wrote:When these get released in Japan (and there's no reason to think they wont since Takara Tomy was so heavily involved and they released the Netflix line over there) they'll probably change some of the universe names as well to better reflect their own.

The original listing was for Black Convoy. So it would have been Black Convoy, Car Robots 2000. But they ultimately went for Scourge and changed the name of the show without changing the year.

And some even before then like the Armada Starscream and Armada Megatron toys from Thrilling 30 being released in Japanese Generations and Legends, respectively, with the "Armada" part of their names intact despite the Japanese version of that series having been named "Legends of the Microns".
