The answer is in your question, compared to every other mold in Velocitron, his is the one that has the most use. And there's an added collectibility to when a particular mold has more usages than normal. Starting in Siege, we had 2 troop type redeco molds: seekers for the decepticons and lambos for the autobots. And each have an earth version and a cybertronian version. With seekers, you know everyone wants all of the colours under the rainbow so it's not a stretch to see how the lambo mold could have that kind of collectibility. So there's that aspect which I feel is there as a base, the want to complete a set of a particular mold.
Then you add to that people wanting to complete their diaclone collection.
Then you add the fact that it's both an exclusive and shortpacked, making him seem rarer than almost any other toy on the shelf, fueling FOMO. That last bit is the reason I got it. Do I really want it? Meh, not sure, but I aint got time to be sure, I may not see this guy ever again.
So it's basically a perfect storm for a nobody character to become wanted.
Also, to anyone asking about the red legs, Hasbro wanted to further differentiate him from Red Alert. I find tha fair because that works well for those who add him simply as an extra bot in their autobot ranks and it further differentiates him when you have all the lambos lined up on a shelf.
