Got mine back in 2002, so I'm good. Still, I wonder if this may pave the way for another launch of reissues for those who missed the commemorative series. Hot Rod could just be to test the waters.

Edit: Just realized it's been almost 16 years. *feels old*

That was sixteen years ago, so, yes, people 16 and younger now did miss out on that.

Still widely available that there's no need to KO them.

On the primary market? In stores? Still at its original retail price?

Google is your friend.

Any serious collector ( you above all know where to find 'em, like Pokemon Go)can find one if they put their mind to it. And yes, the price of the re-issue (Hotrodimus Takara) and Rodimus Major hasn't really moved much. Same with the recently issued Rodimus Prime.

Only ones that are expensive are the G1 Hotrodimus "Black Knight" versions.

Never knew Google was one of Hasbro's primary market distributors (or that one could even buy toys directly from Google).

8-} Sarcasm will get you everywhere

In other words, you got nuthin'!

How to use google (just in case)

1. Install Chrome

2. Type the word you want to search for (in this case G1 Hotrod Takara version)

3. Click Enter

4. So simple even a 5 year old can do that!

There's also the point that "quality control" doesn't appear to be in Hasbro's vocabulary any more. They make so many stupid mistakes these days and it's much quicker and easier to just take something back to the store and get a new one at the same time when it's missing parts or has the wrong parts or loose parts (or messy paint and crooked stickers). Buying Transformers online these days is such a gamble, I only do it if the price is hard to resist or it's the only way I can get them.

Sorry, but, you're not helping your case if you can't admit that those older reissues are no longer directly available from primary market retailers (as in, Toy 'R' Us since that's who carried the Commemorative Series line), which is the entire point of this in the first place. Hasbro only cares about the primary market since that's who they get their money for these toys from. The secondary market gets them no profit. And, they don't get anything from Takara releases either. Otherwise, why would Hasbro bother reissuing anything on the primary market if people could just go after previous releases on the secondary market?

I'll only buy it if it's the Targetmaster version, it's the one I had as a kid. Unfortunately I lost Firebolt at my grandmother's house pretty quickly after getting him and not long after that one of the loops that hold his head on broke and then the entire top of the car broke off. It's kinda crazy how fragile they made him.

Walmart Exclusive G1 Hot Rod Reissue Confirmed with Stock Images

Postby william-james88 » Mon May 21, 2018 5:03 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
We had a listing on Robot Kingdom for a supposed Walmart exclusive reissue of Transformers G1 Hot Rod a little while ago but no confirmation on the Walmart end. Until now. G1 Hot Rod is now listed on Walmart.com. It is not in stock and there is no price shown either, but it is proof enough that this G1 reissue is coming soon. It is listed as Transformers: Vintage G1 Autobot Hot Rod and will come with a vintage style G1 box, as we can see in the official stock images. While there is no price shown, the Robot Kingdom listing showed $30 so that is he current ballpark figure. We thank Scoty P and Steve K for bringing this listing to our attention.

Let us know if you need a(nother) G1 Hot Rod in your collection!

The last reissue was in 2004 with the Commemorative Series. That's 14 years ago. That's quite a while so where is the problem?

It's true that some TF could be reissued like all the headmasters and such. But the lost of molds and other shenanigans may prevent that.

False, they reissued G1 Prime in, I think, 2009 for the 25th anniversary.

I think they were talking about the last reissue in general. I don't know what that is but i know that :TAKARATOMY: reissued G1 Megs and Prime with a DOTM Megs and Prime around the time DOTM came out. So after 2009.

Why are we talking about G1 prime, in a thread about hot rod? Also, as someone who is not collecting 14 years ago, I am very glad to see this is getting re-issued.
