Way to constructively add to the conversation...
I have as much faith and belief in the Doomsday Prophecy as I do in the Bible.
They're both man-made.

Hang on, it was in 2010, with the Rapture. Now you tell me it's 2012?
Someone make their mind up. I just started a PhD, and would like to know whether I should even bother.
Afterthought: does this mean I'll never have Mobine Chaos?

Doomsday Preppers. I can't tell you how sorry I feel for them
Don't get me wrong, I respect their efforts to prepare for the worst, but to have it dominate your life? I can't bare to watch it.
And I seriously do not believe the world is going to end on such and such date. All just a very effective excuse to manipulate the folk for further one's own end. Ask me again in 5 billion years, give or take, when the Earth will plummet into the swollen dying Sun.

One coronal mass ejection or electro-magnetic pulse and we are trouble. I wish our technology was a little tougher or we had better back up systems if our electronic circuity got fried.

A CME actually has hit Earth before, it knocked out the power in Quebec for nine hours in 1989. A nine-hour blackout isn't a world-threatening thing, I've been in one. it's boring as hell but I didn't die from it.
