So, what, HMW is supposed to be set in 5007 A.D.?

Or is that just a typo?

Especially weird when it goes on to say:

Autobots -
For hundreds of years the Transformers true to the ancient Autobot faction have been well known throughout the stars.

How did I miss that before? :?

The canon writers should have REALLY clear that up...

from BW:
- The Earth became a non-trespassing area for Transformers
-- No humans in Beast Wars or Beast Machines -> extinct race :???:
- Preds and Maxis were downgraded to be energon-sufficient (possible micromaster origins?)

Too many remaining questions...

Which is why HMW should be it's own seperate universe instead of trying to tie it into "canon".

this is my view as well.

i rather like the V2 faction backgrounds that Mkall posted, the open a lot of "WHAT IF's,WHAT COULD's)
and if you want to be canon,i am sure if you look you are bound to find o few open canon names, and can run them like that,if you want too go CANON.
for me my entire team is CON canon, but i will reserve the option to change to PRED if they need more #'s in the future. if they let people in CON/PRED switch sides,if the #'s drop in one that is. all anyone would have to due with the bio's is create a event where they were rebuilt and where given new alt modes, and start from there.

having a story that is not CANON,will be a surprise and refreshing to me,and a big TY to the writers who spent there time on this to give us something NEW,that isn't written in stone already.

And given the depth of story tellers we actually have within the HMW forums I see no reason as to why HMW can't have it's own storyline.

Take a look at Mosaic, writers and artists all gathering to share their talents, the HMW storyline could be a mosaic in it's self.

HMW has always seemed to be its own canon to me, just somewhat loosely based upon G1 and Beast Wars. You might want to keep the history somewhat similar, in broad strokes anyways, and let HMW have its own details.

I do think the fact that the Autobots have been waiting for hundreds of years vs. the Maximals being in charge for thousands of years and the Preds being just a small lobby for almost a thousand years is somewhat of a error within HMW's own continuity (each one doesn't seem to match up well with the others) and probably ought to be all changed to hundreds. I think things are easier to wrap your brain around if we're imagining the year being like 2500 or so rather than 5000.

Yeah, if they had had more time, they might have, but one also has to remember, the writers originally were going with a different continuity all together.

Chaoslock wrote:from BW:
- The Earth became a non-trespassing area for Transformers

So many possibilities with that one; it was too bad the BW wrtiers didn't have the time to explore that and the BM writers ignored it.

Chaoslock wrote:-- No humans in Beast Wars or Beast Machines -> extinct race :???:

Probably more thematic than anything (especially considering BM's setting). However, I do believe one of the executive editors for BW had the idea that humans were extinct in the BW era (due to the Swarm), but the other editor didn't like the idea of human extinction.

Chaoslock wrote: - Preds and Maxis were downgraded to be energon-sufficient (possible micromaster origins?)

I think the proper term would be "energon efficient", and yeah, the origins have largely been left unexplained. Though I've heard some unoffical sources say that the Maximals and Predacons were the result of a combination of Pretender and Micromaster technologies

And I agree, HMW should remain it's own vague continuity.

Thats one good tradition. HMW probably could get a better storyline then some of the recent TF cartoons we had.

Just as long as OS doesn't change the battle logs to read something like "Decepticon A yells "TSUNAMI WAVE ATTACK" and hits Autobot A with a tsunami wave attack. Autobot A is water logged".

So I guess if OS was looking for new ideas someone better hide nearly everything anime related.

I've always just taken HMW as its own variation of the cannon, especially since there's probably a thousand copies of the original cast.

When V2 rolls around I'm gonna be a Maximal, though while we're talking about continuity...

- Preds and Maxis were downgraded to be energon-sufficient

...does that mean that the Maxis/Preds are doomed to begin with?

As I keep saying on these boards (and Burn keeps saying in the bedroom) "Size matters not"

In HMW all combatant are the same size, no matter how little sense that makes
The opinions expressed in this post are well-reasoned and insightful.
Needless to say, they are not those of SEIBERTRON.COM, its staff members, or any other site lackeys.
Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight.

I also see HMW as it's own continuity, that way it leaves everything open for future development.
hey you think if we can pester Hasbro enough they'll put HMW characters in the new classics/universe line next year?

Ohhh, geez. If I could, I'd switch to Maximal, just to take my team in a new direction. Unfortunately, my character's altmodes are heavily featured in their bios, meaning any changes on that end will force me to utterly rewrite the characters. I'm planning on keeping my rewrites to a minimum, so...

Autobot. Oh well.
