Personally,I call it bad story writting/telling.
In the TF 2007 movie, some of the army/military/whatever guys had wives & family. yet in the DOTM movie, some of those army/military/whatever guys were living in shacks/hotels/whatever,without their familes. they were retired & all the army guys were hanging out/living with each other, minus their wives & kids & parents.

Please behave yourself.

ReDPATH wrote:Shia/Sam was fine for the first two movies. It was about a kid and his car which could have represented any kid in that situation for the first movie. For the second movie it was mostly about his relationship with Mikeala which further bonded after the battle in Egypt along with the Decepticons need to acquire him for the harvester.
That should have been the end for Shia/Sam as it was the end for Megan/Mikeala AND AND it would have been a great ending for us to believe they stuck together instead of splitting up by the third movie due to unprofessional drama on both sides.
Sam's character along with his parents and the new chick Rosie/Carly served very little purpose at all in the 3rd film. By now the Decepticons shouldn't have given a **** one way or another about Sam Witwicky and his surrounding life. They should only care about destroying the planet/autobots and enslaving humans to rebuild cybertron.
The first half of DOTM really demonstrated how unneeded and/or awkward it was for Shia/Sam to return again.
The good news is I think he's done with the franchise unless Spielberg forces him back into it if Bay ends up leaning that way.
It still so very early in the process. It could go any number of ways.
