As long as the amount of points bought could be restricted (1 point =100k, 2 points = 1 million.) it would seriously limit any potential exploit such a system has.

the young and restless would waste the € on being able to buy one point early on while the more mature players would only use it when they deem it necessary. Who has 1 Million € left on his bank here?

Once it was available, everyone would use it and this gives everyone the feeling they "bought" something good for their bot but the availability would negate any benefit one single user would have.

A good argument neliz, but its not happening.
Experience is the summary of everything you learn from the victories and defeats of war, and that can't be bought.

There may well be other stuff to spend your energon on, but I'm afraid XP won't be one of them.

Surely you can think of better stuff to spend it on?

it would help for people who play on their mobile. it "works" in the arena, so why no in missions?

We've had upgrades for energon before they where called minicons. and it was a fiasco. and really seperated the have's form the have nots.

And the 'Smart' from the 'Autobots'.

With more sensible distribution and stat level capping at 10, they could still be good, but due to the nature of the game and players, they will always be doomed to failure.

if you made them exceedingly rare like have a 0.1% chance of one being found in a certain mission for each surviving TF.

and had them work for a small increase(x1.1 multiplyer at most) in each type of damage(ram, fists, weapons,etc.) maybe one for accuracy one for decreasing repair time, one for decreasing each type of damage, maybe one for a chace to steal a minicon when you kill a TF using a minicon.

and have them detoryed(if not stolen when the TF dies

and have them sellable for a relatively large amount of money(i'm thinking 50K) and maybe any that are sold are buyable for 100K(not really sure about this bit though

So you can walk into a school, slap some money down and have an education instantly dumped into your head can you?

Plus when you look around, half the time a College/University education doesn't prepare you for situations you'll encounter in the work force, that's something you have to learn with time anyway.

And yeah yeah, they're robots blah blah blah. But regardless of cost, it's still going to increase the gap between those who play more often and earn more energon faster, and those who who can only play a few times a day.

And we don't need anything that'll make that gap any bigger.

CR time for energon seems reasonable though - if somewhat limited (e.g. once per character per 12 hour period, or something similar); it could be used to help those who aren't on 24/7. Of course Tammuz's medical bay would also help this; perhaps medics can sell their services instead of gaining XP for the repairs? Either way, I would ask that something be considered so that players who have 12 hours a day on the game don't compound their advantage.

The minicon changes (boost existing stats through a multiplier not by adding numbers) would also work; although if they will be rewarded what's wrong with the old system of rewarding the faction with some inventory and keeping the costs ridiculously high? And, if the Bots blow it again, they blow it again. Hunting Decepticon Minicons were some of the best threads I participated in. But if they were a booster, I would see myself using them to gain that slight extra advantage to earn that last XP for the next upgrade.

Maybe he is suggesting we spend REAL money to buy XP - not spend energon for XP.

This would bring the site more money and maybe with the influx of dough we can get the code fixes/changes we need/want done.

In all reality though, I would like to be able to have the option to spend EXTRA energon to shorten the CR time.

Maybe pay 10 times the cost to shorten CR chamber time to half?

This way people eat up their extra energon quickly - as opposed to those who are patient/broke.

Then again make it VERY spendy to half the CR time like:
(10x(normal recharge cost)) x character level

Something that's expensive, for only a minor benefit - but could be used wisely to get a small advantage for any one of yer characters.

I've seen what happens when you use real money to buy things in a online game. The teens and those with good jobs who have a lot of cash to blow are the ones who do it. Mean while, those without the free cash to burn stagnate. The point of the game is the slog through missions and the arena earning XP.

Buying XP is about as fulfilling as running a macro to play the game for you. Sure, you can get the XP for little or no work, but what's the point of playing the game at that point.

And there's the point where the supposed-to-be-free games start to be cash-games, when there will be exclusive contents (mean: half of the game) that is only available to those who 'donate' cash.

i'd rather keep all the ads on this site than do the adventurequest/dragonquest/mechquest tactic of constant pop up asking if you want to upgrade your account for bonus crap.

Many folks pay to learn a new trade, take a cooking class, buy books to read, all of these in effect raise one's intelligence. Marginaly - sometimes and only in a specific field - but acuiring knowledge is best through study. Studying is hard work - yes - but it is also NEVER FREE.

Aside from that - keep in mind, TFs are robots. Upgrades are part of the entire storyline. I can spend more money on my PC and upgrade my ram and motherboard. To earn energon *IS* doing the hard work portion of the game.

Education isn't instant.

Nor does it really make you smarter, since most of it is requrgitating something else someone else first thought of. Most people who go to college don't ever really get smarter. But this road would derail the thread into more of a philosphy discussion.

Upgrading your PC doesn't make it smarter. It makes it run faster, but it doesn't suddenly gain the ability to compose a sonnet. That's not a good comparison.

Energon is used, it's just not a primary componet of the game, and since energon is supposed to be fuel, why would you want to waste gas like that? Experience is much more valuable (as it is in the real world) and harder to earn. That's why it's used to gage when you can level up.

And something the proponents of this idea seem to not want grasp, or just don't understand, or maybe don't care is how horribly -buying- experience will unbalance the game. The people with the most XP also have the most energon.

Aside from the differencies of our countries -Here the studies are FREE as long as you're doing it good- :

Think about this: If you pay for studies and then go to a choma, you won't learn anything, despite you paid the price. Learning is rather everydays fight: You participate in the mission or study, and you have a good chance of earning experience.
