Try Bloodbourne and Doom - Doom is legitimate, pure adrenaline fueled fun, having played the first 2-3 levels, I'd buy a ps4 to play it, and I don't often buy games (the last one being Dynasty Warriors 8 XL and Pokemon Sapphire 2 years ago) Definitely recommend both or just Doom

Doom, yes and Wolfenstein as well. But not sure about Bloodbourne, I do not like being frustrated playing games. It doesnt seem to have much of a story either. It's pretty nuts how things changed. Just a few years ago we had Bioshock, Last of Us, and Tomb Raider, all in the same year, and they were all single player action adventure games with a story driving the game forward. Plus all the uncharted games and God of War Games and Far Cry Games which also had a story. I know Bloodbourne doesnt have a direct narrative, its more of a tone and lore, does Doom have a story? The only recent game I can think of that does have a good narrative is the Witcher 3 but I will be waiting for it to be discounted on steam to play.

PS4 Cactaur I think. But I'm not looking to buddy up. I may not play past the free 30 days. I'd love to get hooked, but I doubt I'll do any party stuff. I'm just a stubborn single player. Can't teach and old dog new tricks.Shadowman wrote:carytheone wrote:Oh and I dipped my toe into an unfamiliar genre: MMO - FFXIV: overwhelmed!
Welcome to the club! Which server are you on?
Yeah, I got both RE remakes via the humble bundle then RE1 hits plus; story of my life. And one of the reasons I hold out on games, especially indie games.I picked REmake HD up too, since it was being given out for free to PS+ subscribers. I picked up, played and Beat Resident Evil 0 HD, which means Code Veronica is the only main-series game I haven't beaten yet.carytheone wrote:I also recently picked up the Resident Evil HD remake on PS4. Thanks, but I saw the deals. Nothing piqued my interest. I have MMLC on the PS4 (I'd rather have it portable but I'm not double dipping). I picked up FE:A some time ago for around $15 on a random KMart clearance. I like the game and I'd like to spend more time with it. I got stuck on a pretty early fight and because of "oh shiny" I haven't went back. Maybe now is the time to give it another go.william-james88 wrote:There were som decent deals on the nintendo store for cybermonday (dont know if they are still on). I FINALLY got Fire Emblem Awakening, after years of trying to get it for below $30. Also got the megaman collection for $9.
And for black friday, I missed out on those new 3ds consoles at the amazing prices but I did get the 3-DS games DK Country and Super Mario 3-D land for $19.99, a piece (all in canadian dollars, so great deals all around!).

What I'm most excited to check out is the new "Foundation" update to NMS. I'm out of town and that'll have to wait until I get home.
FE was a super lucky pick up just before KMart stopped selling games, most of the ones I see on my travels are closing now. Bravely Default is a great game. It really reminds me of Final Fantasy of yore. The job system is quite fun. My entire team is at lvl 99 and maxed at pretty much all the jobs I care about for each member. I'm kinda mentally stuck at the slog that happens close to the end of the game though. I pick it up about once a month and push a little farther until I get bored again. I'll be skipping 2nd. Have I ever mentioned I like grinding (see below).william-james88 wrote:carytheone wrote:

You lost me there, care to explain further? I am not aware of most words used in taht sentence haha.
And great deal on Fire Emblem, it was never that cheap here. That and freaken Bravely Default. Cant catch a break with that one. I also wnt to play shovel knight but it istn cheap either. And super Metroid is still over $10. Didnt they already get all their money with that game?
Edit: I clicked your link and it all makes sense. I wont get into NMS though.
Yes, those are some good games you mentioned. I'm way over due on a SotN playthough. It's sitting on my vita getting ignored. Many a happy hour was spent jamming out while playing WipeOut XL. I've also been considering a MGS playthough after poking around in MGSV.bodrock wrote:Despite lovin the original anime, I never played this game, Cary! And seeing a Playstation game definitely brongs back great memories of Resident Evil, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (with the best Game Over screen EVER), FF7, FF8, Omega Boost, WipeOutXL, Lunar, Chrono Cross...FF Tactics!! I loved that opening theme so damn much I'd let it play before starting up.
Don't forget Front Mission 3(!), Valkyrie Profile, Metal Gear Solid.....I could go on about this gaming-era lol
College was a special time <3
I never could get into BFM, but PE was neat.itscramtastic wrote:The good old PSX. I had most of the Capcom fighters, any Need for Speed that was released, Ridge Racer, and of course Gran Turismo. Still never 100% that game. So many cars and races!!
One of my favorite Square titles from then was Brave Fencer Musashi. Not sure why, just really liked it. Parasite Eve was good, Resident Evil 2, Megaman 8. Good times!!
