A bunch of us were sitting around the other night watching the old g1 tv show, and we got the third season were introduced the predacons. When my cousin who really got in transformers because of movie said wait second, and we turned to him and said what. According to the toy tech specs who would win if the g1 predacons and g1 dinobots went head to head in battle since they seem to be the same except that the predacons can turn into predking. I was stuned and couldn't answer I had never thought about it before.

I'd say Predacons since they have the ability to turn into Predaking.

Taken separately, I'd say the G1 Dinobots are better. Over all they have nicer alt modes and their robot modes blow the Predacons away (Tantrum is god awful). Predaking evens things out a bit, in my mind he's the best combiner ever released.

But, I'd say the Dinbots are still cooler and get my vote every time. I mean, you can't say "Me Razorclaw here to kick butt!" with the same effect that Grimlock would have.

Depends.. if they participated in Jeopardy, the predacons would win...

I think everybody overlooks the "according to techspecs" thingy there though..

The Dinobots can't even beat Devastator in season 1 and again in TFTM. With that in mind, Predaking is even stronger than the Devastator so Dinobots would loose. However, if that battle is limited to only Dinobots Vs. Predacons (no Predaking), then Dinobots win.

I talked to my cousin just a little while ago and came up with three things that might help

1. both the dinobots and predacons could use whatever powers they have. Meaning that predacons could turn into predaking

2. the battle would take place in a jungle setting don't ask why

3. Cartoon wins and loses don't factor in because the decepticons are always going to lose because that is way it was written.

Well, all of those things sure help to skew it towards the Predacons.

That's one kind of helping I suppose.

They lost because Sky-Lynx would kick the crap out of them, but he wasn't a Dinobot. Plus I'm sure Sky-Lynx would've loved to be lumped in with the Dinobots too.

Individually, the Dinobots are stronger than nearly any other transformer, besides the combined forms. I'd also like to point out that the tech specs are very hit or miss. You'd sometimes have a transformer with no actual guns that would have an incredibly high firepower rating, so therefore, the tech specs aren't perfect either.

I still think that the Dinobots would win in the fight. Why? While Predaking is the best combined form result from the combination of the minds, the Dinobots still have their own advantages. They often have no regard for personal pain or wellbeing, so they would basically operate like kamikazi fighters and wouldn't even think of dying for their cause. I'd also like to point out that in the tech specs, the dinobots are not actually stupid. Grimlock's leadership would topple Predaking.

I like the Dinobots better, just because of their dinosaur modes.
If it came down to it,
I think the Dinobots would win that battle.
Predaking is slow, and if all Dinobots attacked together,
it would be close, but they'd win.

I'm not sure if its official or not but wasn't it revealed in one continuity that the dinobots have a gestalt form called "The Beast?"

Completely agree. Also as individual toys the Predacons weren't as cool IMO. I definitely like the Dinobuddies much more... just wished Takara would get off their asses and continue to do the bookstyle reissues and get ALL of the Dinobots reissued!! :-?
