Well Skylynx's alt mode is technically a space shuttle, no? Not too ridiculous. And the reason for splitting into two is so that he can deal with enemies on land and in the air.... at the same time

It's all good, no worries. It started out with the train of thought you had but we quickly realized it would be more fun if we took the word ridiculous by its true meaning. It became too easy to just point at lazy "cybertronian" designs like the recent Megatrons we got (movie and Prime) or stuff like whatever the Fallen becomes in ROTF. We realized those werent really what ridiculous meant, those are more "indistinguishable" (which will also have it's own list).

We instead went for really left field stuff that we wouldnt expect, stuff that just doesnt make sense or that is too out of place. Like a TF that turns from a jet to a jet carrier (?!) or Beast Wars Neo Heinlad and Moon, or those really odd official alternate modes that you'd think is just fan modes.

Following from my earlier post I just don't think G1 Shrapnel and Bombshell look like insects whereas I love G1 Kickback.

I just have a general dislike of Cybertron Megatron anyway but the giant multi coloured bat mobile knock off just looks silly to me.

I just think Kup and Chromedome look horrible in both modes.

Surprised no one's mentioned Blot or the Pretender Monsters.

I actually like Quickswitch and the Firecons.

Actually no, it's based on a real vehicle, a suitably giant bucket wheel excavator.
It's not an exact match but you can definitely see the inspiration. I think that rules out the Plex.

How did no one mention movie Ravage (unless I skimmed past it).

Robot mode is a mechanical... pantherish thing... all bayed up, but still close enough to what Ravage would be expected to be.

Alt mode is... uh... a folded up mechanical pantherish thing? I don't know how it even counts as an alt mode, whatever it is. To me, that's gotta be the most ridic alt mode, it's like, they didn't even bother.

Good points! I totally agree.

Technically his alt mode is a "reentry mode." At least Ravage was streamlined. These two were extra ugly and ridiculous:

Protoform Optimus Prime
Protoform Starscream

"I transform into a meteorite." Seriously? With Ravage at least I can pretend that he transforms into a Cybertronian Jet, or at least a floating mobile artillery platform. They all qualify for most ridiculous.

I make a distinction between Ridiculous and "indistinguishable" alt modes. That volcano face is more in the indistinguishable category.

Anyone who turns into an "appliance"- so G1 Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, Sixshot Blaster and Perceptor.

Astrotrain, who turns from a train into a goddamn space shuttle. Seriously? Just ditch the train mode, keep the shuttle mode and be gigantic!

Omega Supreme, whose entire transformation scheme is a total headache. Not to mention how he somehow gets all his extra junk back when he lands.

Stampy, who turns into a bunny, Break, who turns into Pingu, and of course Longrack, who turns into a giraffe. Um, what?

OG Decepticons are all cool. Giant robot TF'ing into something the size of a tape deck is a pretty damn good disguise.

Astrotrain is the man. Besides, we have other train bots that aren't triple changers and they're awesome in their own right.

For your BWN/II suggestions, I think Moon has them all beat. It's not just a rabbit he turns into, its a cartoon rabbit.

And I like the appliance sugestions but they will be in another list so we can have more to discuss

I dunno, but a rat seems like a more useful alt mode. Good for sneaking around and squeezing through pipes.
