His flames are a nice touch. Makes him unique alongside other memorable Primes like Cybertron Prime and G1 Prime.
Powerful in terms of image or physical design?
Or physical power?
Movie Prime seems like an old man, a has-been tough guy, who's finding it exhausting to keep up with the younger guys of the present.
He seems to panic, and pant at times. Like's he's out of breath.

Where is he panicking and panting? He was impatient with Sam and we've gone over this hundreds of times, in such a situation he was justified in being impatient. The only time he seriously was in trouble at all - Bonecrusher couldn't hold a candle to his power - was when Prime was fighting Megatron, and I've already qualified that Megatron is more powerful one-on-one. How is he a has-been? The Autobots seem pretty loyal and keen for his leadership, and he's not the oldest anyway - Ironhide is.
Yes, I mean in both age, experience, wisdom and physical strength, he is the most powerful and self-reliant of the Primes.

Dude...you are hearing things. There was no panting, but there was groaning from pain. Try not to confuse the two.

There was probably no panting per se.
I'm not hearing things.
But the scenes were made to look and feel that way.
He was fast and energetic when fighting Bonecrusher. But suddenly became like an "old man" image when he faced Megatron.
He's not an old man. He's a robot. And there was no mention of his age. I like to state this first to stem your tendency to be witty and philosophical.

Yeah, but I am comparing this Prime with the other PRIMES. Not Megatron. I have already happily admitted movie Prime is overall weaker than movie Megatron, which is why I don't know how this helps your argument. So Megatron can beat up Prime, I know that too, the movie made that clear. What I am saying is that movie Prime, given his experience and origins as a much more ancient ruler of Cybertron than other Prime incarnations, would have a relatively easy time beating them.
And what else am I implying? That movie Megatron would SMASH most other Prime incarnations.

BTW, if you're going to assert that movie Prime and Megs were actually weaker than previous incarnations because they used more down and dirty hand to hand combat rather than a full blown arsenal of weapons, I can (try) and address that as well.
It's sort of a chicken and the egg question: Do we see them as using fists and claws because they are not as advanced as, say, Galaxy Convoy or the combining powers of Armada and Energon Prime? Or is it because the two leaders are so powerful only they can seriously hurt each other personally. Remember that all the other autobots/decepticons happily used very high tech weaponry, but Megs and Prime only used it as a supplement to their punching, kicking and wrestling.

The masters dont need weapons. THEY are the weapons....and in G1 this was literally the case with Megs (which was stupid if you ask me)

Not really.
I just thought that Prime in previous incarnations, is usually stronger or at least equal to Megatron.
I'm just disappointed that Movie Prime is such a weakling against Megatron.
But comparing Prime himself, then and now... I'd say just about the same. Not much difference.
It is Megatron who became several times more powerful than he previously was.

first of all G1-IS-DEAD-AND-ONLY-HOMAGES-TO-IT-EXIST-BESIDES-RELICS
it is like a pet. once the pet is dead, you bury it, maybe say a few words, look at a few pictures, watch a few snipets of videos, writea few poems about it, get a new animal that looks like it, ect. but it is only a memory.
g1 is the same. there are onlthe poems and the drawings left, and the classics line is like the new pet- it looks the same, but it is a very different beast.
secondly, prime just had to deal with bonecrusher (and barricade in the novel) just a few minutes ago, while megatron has had 10,000 years of R&R, repairing any damaged caused by his crash and basicly refilling his batterys. also, prime had just landed and scanned a new alt mode, taken on sector seven, and had to drive about 230 miles across america. still think the fight was fair?

I can understand your reasoning, and I definitely agree that Megatron IS power in this movie. Believe me, I am also disappointed that Prime fared so poorly against Megatron, but what I am really defending is his power compared to other Primes, which I think is a worthy defence.

Yeah, respectable power in this Prime.
I'm sorry i can only compare him to G1 Prime. I haven't had the chance to see the whole of other series. Just very few bits and pieces of Armada and Beast Wars. So i don't have a true idea of his power in those series.
At least, this is the first time i saw him chop someone's head off.

Armada and Energon Prime were pretty cool - but he had to combine with his friends to defeat the baddies. Cybertron Prime also did this, but towards the end he had a Super Mode (same as his toy) which made him an unstoppable war machine. Not to criticize G1 Prime but Galaxy Convoy, the most powerful Prime in Cybertron series, could probably beat him simply due to the massive armoury he's got in super mode and his ability to combine with Leobreaker or Wing Saber. I'm arguing for the primacy of movie Prime because I think he is more powerful than Galaxy Convoy in a different way.

I'm sick of this argument. And a toyline/TV series is not a pet. You analogy stinks.
G1 was great. If it wasn't there would be no classics, no Beast Wars, no Armada, no live action movie, etc, etc...
It's possible to do new things, but still capture what was great about the original material.
