yeah, but a unofficial reference... without knowing it, OP flame design resembles Rodimus Prime's flame design on the chest. UNOFFICIAL, of course. that might not be the reason anyways.

Or maybe they had lots of designs, as movie designers usually do.. one more original, another with flames in reference to Rodimus.
Bay looks at them, and says "I want the one with flames".
He might not know why there are flames, it's just his opinion to have them.
Even then, maybe he DID know the reference to Rodimus - if there was one - but didn't say so himself.

Why are people still arguing about this subtle, and DONE change?

As far as Prime Vs Megatron in the film, I think it worked. Megatron is pure unreserved malice, not held back by anything. Prime is good and self-sacrificing, a role-model and a hero and much more reserved. Prime would always try and resolve things without war, if you had him trashing Megatron, his personality would change. It would be like, Prime says it's okay to beat the crap out of someone to win!
They needed to show the difference between Prime and Megatron.

(True Prime sawed Bonecrusher's head off.. but I think that was due to the fact Prime had to keep pace with the Allspark to stop Megatron. Either that or - quite possibly - Bonecrusher killed 50 people on that bus and well.. I don't blame Prime for killing him off after that!)

Whats so wrong with someone wanting something? If you are a director of a movie that means you can have ANYTHING, so if you want something, you get it.
