Took the time to watch this review. I was impressed with everything except for the shoulders on ball joints. Since ive seen the actual firearm in person, I can confirm that it is actually the same size as the vintage G1 toy. Thus, they compromised gun scale accuracy to give you a bigger robot. If this thing were voyager sized, it would be in scale for CHUG with both modes and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Think your mistaken there mate:

Apollyon is closer in scale with the actual P-38' not perfect I grant you, the grip is longer and he's "fatter" for want of a better word, but G1 Megs is a fair bit smaller than the gun he's based on.

Well I saw the Walther P-38 in an firearms museum exhibit years ago. I didnt have my G1 Megatron handy to lay it on the glass to compare. While the pics you provided clearly show the actual firearm to be larger than the G1 vintage toy, Apollyon appears to be way bigger in this review. Thew isnt exactly a small guy and Apollyon seems to be bulging out of his hands and clearly dwarfs most modern police issue firearms. I would be inclined to believe the G1 vintage toy is closer to the actual firearm's size than Apollyon. That's just my opinion. Hopefully somebody will provide a pic of Apollyon next to the real thing.

On a sidfe note, is there any documentation that the silencer, scope, and stock ever really existed for the Walther P-38 ? Or was that just inspired from a different gun and a total fantasy created by Takara in the 80's ?

Well it is very reminiscent of the walther p38 in the old t.v. show man from uncle...so maybe they took it from that?

WOW, great tidbit! And quite topical since a new man from UNCLE is coming out starring superman.
Very cool to all of the above!! U.N.C.L.E. Apollyon?!donny1975 wrote:Yeah I am wondering how good the film will be...william-james88 wrote:WOW, great tidbit! I was just happy to see on XTB's facebook page the boxes of Apollyon(s) being shipped out.
I also thought it was kewl that they changed their background pic to Thew in his "Chechnyan Hitman" get up... He's hilarious.

Alter the joints tech, alter the plastic density, Alter the engineering. Resculpt a few parts. Take away or add articulation. If all this has to be down. Might as well just create a new toy from scratch.

That is completely awesome! I need to re-watch that show for the reference, and we can hope it'll be in the new movie! Thankfully Apollyon comes with all the goodiesAutobot032 wrote:donny1975 wrote:Well it is very reminiscent of the walther p38 in the old t.v. show man from uncle...so maybe they took it from that?william-james88 wrote:I always wanted to know as well.Rated X wrote:On a sidfe note, is there any documentation that the silencer, scope, and stock ever really existed for the Walther P-38 ? Good catch, I was hoping someone would figure that out. Megatron's design does indeed come from Man From U.N.C.L.E. It was a Walther P38 modified to hold a stock, silencer and scope, which the real gun does not do in it's stock configuration. (It's only real configuration.) They thought it would look like a neat sniper pistol and be all fancy for a secret agent.
It clearly worked. In fact, the Microman version of Megatron has U.N.C.L.E. on it's box, no joke.
If it wasn't for U.N.C.L.E. we wouldn't have Megatron as we've come to know and love him. Good catch, dude!
