History:
The Astrobots were originally brought together during the great war to seek out new colony planets for the autobot forces. Shadow Saber a famed explorer from before the war, and devastated by the recent disappearance of his sister in combat was chosen to head the mission. Hyper Space, his longtime friend and colleague was chosen to serve as the science officer for the mission. Nova Storm and Blaze Wing two young hothead flyers, were selected to accompany the mission primarily to deal with potential hostile species or decepticons they encounter. They final memeber Battle Star was originally an Autobot Battleship/command station but through years of war had slowly lost the will to fight, and thus being of no use to high command on the front lines was re-assigned.

This final Autobot failsafe plan was eventually launched after the death of Sentinal Prime, when it appeared Megatron would soon command all of Cybertron. Shadow Saber, leading his newly formed exploration team; the Astrobots, and struggling to deal with the recent loss of his sibling Aria in battle, led the mighty Autobot Colony ship Battle Star away from Cybertron, his hull full of Autobot settlers. The Astrobot Expedition vanished into the blackness of space, in order to maintain secrecy, no method of communication was ever established, nor did anyone left on Cybertron know even the direction the expedition set out in, in order to ensure it was impossible for the Decepticons to ever track the fleet. The mission soon deteriorated into an urban myth amongst the Autobot high command.

Eons later after the Autobots had established contact with Earth Shadow Saber's sister Aria was found her identity and memory being restored during the target master binary bonding process. The High command permitted her to find out what had become of the Astrobot mission. Aria was subjected to a combiner compatibility upgrade and along with her target master Samantha, headed of into deep space to locate the Astrobots and bring them home. It provided a great morale boost to the Autobot forces when the thriving colony joined the war effort with its extensive energy manufacturing and industrial base. Shadow Saber and the Astrobot's now serve the Autobot cause as a special forces Autobot space fleet squadron, defending the spacebound interests of the Autobots, a role that has become even more important with the development of the terrifying Decepticon starborne force of the Sweeps.

The Astrobots have recently begun working closely with Sabre Guard's battle unit in order to boost their ground force presence, greatly adding to their tactical flexibility. Saber Guard being as the name suggests, another of Shadow Saber's siblings, sharing an extremely rare triple spark between with Aria.
