Glenn Hallit, the person responsible for the OTFCC convention has posted some info on OTFCC ´04. If you thought that ´03 had problems just feast your eyes on this unedited announcement.
Hi everyone,
I know everyone is antsy about the recent change in venue for OTFCC 2004 and would like to know a little about what´s going on behind-the-scenes. I also understand that some reassurance on my part would go a long way in calming the collective consciousness of the fan community. I know I´ve also said I´d give a status update today, as well.
With that being said, please keep in mind NOTHING HAS BEEN SIGNED – no contracts, no monies exchanged, nothing. This is what we have been working on all last week and until ALL parties are settled and signed, this will not be considered "official". That means, among other things, no hotels will have the discounted rooms available in their systems should you decide to be proactive and call to reserve your room. This is a WORK IN PROGRESS. I hope to have contracts signed by this week.
Having said THAT, we are working on changing the venue from the Hyatt Regency O´Hare to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HYATT, with the "official" hotels (that is, those hotels with discounted room rates) to include the Holiday Inn (soon to be a Crowne Regency on June 1) with rooms at $92 per night and 1-2 other hotels nearby, giving us a combined room availability of 400-500 rooms for the weekend. These hotels are also ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE HYATT. So, that means no date changes and no airport changes. It´s as if you were going to the Hyatt and just moving across the street. THAT´S how close they are to each other.
So, there you have it. Status update and all. I will officially announce the venue change with all pertinent hotel info when we sign with all the different companies. I hope this calms everyone in light of the hotel situation 2 weeks ago. As I said before, there is no need to panic because things are pretty much OK when this is all confirmed.
Take care.
Glen
The Stevens´ Convention Center has a main hall that dwarfs the hall that hosted OTFCC ´03. There are a few smaller halls inside the center that would seem to be better sized to host the convention marking the 20th Anniversary of our favorite toyline.

Contrary to what had been floating around the ´net lately, Grimlock and Swoop will NOT be repaints of Cruellock and Divebomb. While both of those figures are in line for the repaint treatment very soon, they will not be given the names of the two best-known Dinobots. Grimlock/Swoop are new figures. They´re scheduled to make their debut at OTFCC 2004 in Chicago. Chances are pictures will leak before then, but that´s the plan at it now stands. This comes from a far more credible source than the one responsible for the "Cruellock Repaint" rumor.

Yet another twist in the increasingly strange saga of the ToysR´Us Universe Spring Value Pack (aka Ramjet with 3 Minicons). Despite Amazon.com listing the release date as April 20th, it appears the Pack is already on sale in Canada! You can check out the sightings thread at Toy News International

Even after SEIBERTRON.com´s crash last night, we´re still dedicated to bringing you the latest news and rumor updates!
Fans may remember the appearance of "Grimlock/Swoop" in a list from Wal-Mart´s computer database. This set is listed as a Mega figure from Energon, but what is it? Well, none other than a repainted Cruellock and Divebomb, apparently, which will be disappointing to fans of the original Dinobot. Another figure, however, was believed to be a repaint - Doom-Lock. However, it may not be a repaint after all... keep an eye out for updates on these future Energon releases.
On the Universe side of things, a lot of interest was generated by the Ultra-sized "Constructicon" two-packs. Once again, fan guesses seem to be correct - these two sets are none other than a G1 Constructicon-style repaint of Landfill! Keep an eye out for both of these two-packs this summer.

At Wizard World an interesting rumor was dropped by an associate of Tom DeSanto. Robert Zemekis (Back to the Future Trilogy) would be directing the live action movie. He also said that New Line Cinema (Lord of the Rings Trilogy) would distribute the film. There´s also some interesting fan-made concept art of what Optimus Prime could look like in the movie. Check out at the

I´ve recieved reports that Takara is actually doing some of the work for OTFCC´s exclusives this year (They were responsible for the version of Megazarak shown at Wizard World last year). This lends another small bit of credibility to the rumor that the "Matrix Guardian" will be a repainted BW Neo Big Convoy. Test shots for Big Convoy have been popping up all over the place and the figure includes a removable matrix.
