With our first look, yesterday, at two Studio Series toys coming out in 2023, I thought it would be a good time to consolidate all the listings we got to give you a full view of what is coming out next year in that line. It will be a mix of toys for characters from the Rise of the Beasts movie (labelled as TF7 in toy listings, two of which are still code names), War for Cybertron High Moon Game, 86 Movie Michael Bay films (of which there is only one so far). We do not know the full wave breakdown and that will always be subject to change, but below you will find the full list organized by price point. This does not include exclusive Studio Series toys like the upcoming Hatchet.

Tra Gen Studio series Core TF3 Bumblebee
Tra Gen Studio series 86 core Frenzy

I didn't realise the Studio Series High Moon figures were appearing so soon?

Suddenly thinking ahead to (maybe) SS Metroplex and Bruticus??

True. But for those people asking for a new/redux Metroplex. I'd say it would likely be this one.

That's doesnt make sense to me since the previous Metroplex was the one from WFC. We'd get a more g1 accurate Metroplex before revisiting a WFC Metroplex.

This is my thinking, and I'm surprised Warden left before he got a crack at it. As it is, i can't see them doing Metroplex till 2025? Gives them a couple of years removed from Cybertron Metroplex.

Comparing the two, the WFC one just looks like an update to the original design. So I'd assume any new Metroplex would work from the WFC model and fix it's problems IE the teeny, tiny waist.
I don't imagine there would be a need to revisit the "G1" look, in lieu of the WFC one. Outside of a Selects-style redeco?

Isn't Swoop rumored to be a voyager? Maybe they want to get the leaders out of the way?

I'm largely removed from collecting Bayverse figures in general, and I have low expectations for the new movie, so unless some of these are visually stunning and the engineering is next level, I'll probably just stick with Frenzy and Snarl. Maybe Brawn. I would like to see Springer get released in SS86. Just the cleaned up version of the Siege figure.

I still think Devastator should be done in SS86, either as single releases or a set, or both like RoTF Devy was. Or just reissue CW Devy in SS86 packaging.

Optimus and Megatron should still be coming. But I guess there's a near bottomless goldmine in the potential new figures from the game designs.

How far would they go with game designs? WFC Springer, Broadside and the other concept designs that didn't make it into the series? Or just the base roster?

There is also the PS2 Transformers game, based loosely on Armada. That could bring a select number of UT figures some modern updates.

Pretty sure swoop was confirmed as leader, he might have a small bit of plastic with him like grimlock or starscream did to look worthy of the pricing.

Swoop has been rumoured to have been both at one point. I think he'll be leader on account of the plastic needed for the wings.

Regarding Metroplex, it was said that Warden wanted a more G1 take on ole plex (read not stretched out just to gain a title that he held for 2 years just to give to Fortress...who then lost it to Unicron). I'd imagine the intent would be to have a plex with G1 proportions.

Bear this in mind though that we've yet to have a titan class outside the main Generations line branding yet (one exception being when Takara did Grand.) It's entirely possible that Studio Series never gets a commander or titan class of It's own. Only time will tell if it holds true

EDIT:

Omegatron. wrote:Remind me, where was it confirmed that WFC meant High Moon rather than Netflix?

While more an assumption still (baring either a leak of figures or official confirmation), it's down to there already being a Netflix wfc line.

When it was noted that Studio Series would be going from films to video games. A Netflix WFC line already exists. So it wouldn't make sense for it to be in the SS line, too.

And a G1 already exists but they still put G1 toys in Studio Series, so I don't find that very persuasive.

It hasn't officially but we have just had a line of screen accurate decos to the Netflix series and Siege, so while it could be a line of reissues, it's doubtful.

Really this is the problem of having two completely different things called War For Cybertron

Studio Series '86 AKA G1: The Movie. Hence why it was in the SS line. Netflix series has no movie. But High Moon does have a video game series.

Very true, they performed that one 3 times (2 cartoons, their respective toy lines and a prime sub line)

No official confirmation from Hasbro, but that goes for this entire list. The confirmation came from JTPrime who has access to distributer info, he is the same source for most of these early listings.

The latest news from a Hasbro designer is that they are all the same size, as was the case in the G1 show.

Thats an interesting one since it's a glaring omission. But, unlike all the others, Optimus retains the same design he had before, so it could just be a reissue within the SS line, apart from the main line, or a reissue in the Buzzworthy line.

I am honestly struggling to think of how they can top the previous WfC Optimus, the deluxe had amazing engineering and besides the magazine on the side of the gun needing a stronger spring because its as touch sensitive as unite frenzy and rumble its already an amazing figure. I can only assume the voyager will be roughly the same size with the engineering they'll need to make this worth replacing him. *FoC* Optimus however... please hasbro.

Ohh, they can improve it. WFC Prime has a super fiddly and overly convoluted transformation.

Cyber Truck mode is o.k, and robot mode looks fine, but going form one to the other is not pleasant.
An update to that would be appreciated.

FOC was a simpler more intuitive transformation that I think works much better and is much better experience overall.

Thanks for this! Man, makes me so happy seeing the WFC game figures here! I've wanted them to give us more figures from that continuity for a decade!

I also would've preferred if they made Hatchet a jet like his original Commander figure. Not movie accurate, but such a cool alt form for our doggy friend!

Exactly.
The old Titan Metroplex was not "G1" enough, and was certainly NOT "FOC".

Also, I would want an official FOC Omega Supreme and Triptycon. Both were absolutely fantastic in the games and they got solid 3P offerings. Having Hasbro complete and improve the toys of the Activision games would be awesome. A release of a remasters of those games on Steam and modern consoles would help.

If the eventual Swoop is a Voyager size figure at Leader price, Hasbro better pack 5 swords as accessories. None of the Blitzwing/Shockwave crap.

I don't think they will, the swords were never in the movie anyway. What I now think Swoop will be like is consistent in height with the others but leaner, allowing for his wings to be the size they need to be.

People always talk about the swords but then forget that they never appeared in the movie which this line is all about.

Swoop will be as tall as the others in robot mode, so it will be a leader class toy with a leader's height.

That won't be an issue since his wings fold up for robot mode, which is what main-line figures are packaged in nowadays.

Do you include Devcon in that statement? Because I don't know when we'll get him.

Back to the two Airazors, someone made a great comment elsewhere saying that this was a situation like the First Edition figures in Prime where we had two completely different deluxes for the same characters (Arcee, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Vehicon). I found that a very apt comparison.

It think it's less "it wasn't in the movie so it won't happen" and more "it wasn't in the movie so it's a lower priority", and then they spent the accessories budget for the Dinobots on "essentials" already before they got to giving them lower priority/non-movie accessories. Otherwise, how do you explain Gnaw having his gun that was never in the film?

It think it's less "it wasn't in the movie so it won't happen" and more "it wasn't in the movie so it's a lower priority", and then they spent the accessories budget for the Dinobots on "essentials" already before they got to giving them lower priority/non-movie accessories. Otherwise, how do you explain Gnaw having his gun that was never in the film?

I'm going to be completely honest with you, I forgot that Studio Series 86 Gnaw even had a gun

If I'm being honest, I don't expect to see Devcon in the line but I would very much like to see him in the future. He won the fan tournament a little while ago which Sam Smith did see, so it could be possible!

I also got core DOTM Laserbeak painted up, I really like this figure! Excited for the Bumblebee redeco in the future, I hope we see more Bayverse core class!

Thank you! This was a neat one to work on, I really just had to miniaturize my paint work from SS DOTM Bumblebee!

Got my final 2 Studio Series figures for the year, and with them I have finished the wave.

Starting with Crosshairs, he is a definite improvement over his old toy. He is much more involved, and his alt mode parts end up being more included as well. I love that half his hood ends up as the front parts of his trenchcoat. I also like how much more functional the arms are, and how his posability improved with the redesign. His transformation is very different from his first toy, which is always a good thing to experience. I like him, he is an improvement, and he's a good toy.

As for Hot Rod, he is also a good toy. Finally, a movie accurate toy! His transformation is very involved, but makes for a clean robot. They put a lot of effort into him, and he is real good.

Overall, the wave was strong. The Fallen is a definite winner, and I adore Laserbeak. Both deluxes ended up being good too. It was a good wave.

I'm surprised it's going to be a main line release, I'd have expected this Bot to be some kind of Con Exclusive but an Exclusive either way. Though I suppose things can always change. Also can't believe it's a new mold since there doesn't seem to be much reuse here.

What? There's no DOTM Devcon confirmed to be coming. That fan tournament was fan conducted. It wasn't official. It was just done for fun by fans.

I never suggested anything DOTM, I was responding to "a comment" made but was speaking about a potential G1 Defcon release that I had heard about. My mistake for posting here in your movies only thread.

But DOTM Devcon is who they were talking about. That's who won the tournament.

IMO, this might be one of the best SS waves. Every figure in it was a hit (even if you count the SS86 Ironhide). Each figure either improved on old toys or gave us our first good version of them.

Hopefully the coming waves are like this! I am really excited to see more RotB stuff.
