Two new Age of the Primes Deluxe Class figures have joined the ranks to mark the 20th anniversary of the Transformers: Cybertron animated series. Sideways and Excellion bring modern updates to two characters from the Cybertron series.
Sideways, a descendant of the manipulative Liege Maximo, returns with a design inspired by his original Cybertron appearance and comes armed with his signature weaponry. Excellion channels the legacy of Amalgamous Prime, the ever-adaptive member of the Thirteen, with a streamlined look and bold colors that harken back to his earlier incarnations.
Both characters carry with them a strong connection to the mythos of the Thirteen Primes, the first Transformers whose actions shaped the fate of Cybertron and beyond. These new versions honor that heritage while reimagining the characters for a new generation of fans and collectors.
Our galleries feature each figure in both modes, along with close-up shots of their sculpted details, accessories, and nods to their original designs. You will also find comparison images with earlier releases to show how each character has evolved over the years.

Ah yes, Excellion. The super important background car in Velocitron race #8,002. Might not even be there and only in esoteric club fiction, I don't recall what cg models got recolored for the generics in the cartoon. Deep rooted Cybertron lore right there I tell yamodern updates to two characters deeply rooted in Cybertron lore.

Sideways is almost good. The partsforming shield thing is lazy as lazy gets. I can't think of a good reason to get AotP Sideways if you have the original and don't care about ankle tilts. Personally I want to see a release of the new mold in gray so it can be troop-built a little.

Agree about troop-building, since Planet X had so few actual characters, though FWIW that did make them seem nice and mysterious in the show. But what I really want is a green and white repaint for even more Cybertronian Army-building. Jhiaxus can never have cheap-ass troops! And to that end, I actually like the shield; allows for more minor variations, if I can find the right parts to tack on.ScottyP wrote:Sideways is almost good. I really like the new Sideways. At first, I was a little thrown off by the shield detaching, but to be honest, it really bugged me when transforming the original. The new one resolves a lot of issues that the first one had with loose ball joints (a common problem on that mold), adding a waist swivel and some other modern touches. I do miss the light-piping face/shield but oh well.
As for Noisemaze Production Type ... gallery coming soon! Here's a teaser.

I'm a bit bummed there's not more Cybertron characters on slate for next year. Would love to see them improve on Overhaul, Leobreaker, Scattorshot, Thunderblast, Scourge with wrists... Maybe just revive the whole cast? Maybe for the 25th anniversary? Hint hint
