Toysdaily.com has a nice gallery of the recently released Takara Tomy MA-21 Movie Leader Optimus Prime. A release in Japan earlier this week, this Prime sports a built on retracting 'energon' blade and the usual nice shiny chrome.

It looks amazing 
. Once again Takara Tomy outperforms Hasbro. At least I usually prefer the Takara Tomy versions, though exceptions exist, like the Hasbro Soundwave reissue.

This is a spectacular peice, worthy of the price we'll all be paying for it ($70). I understand the cost-cutting measures Hasbro need to implement given the price of production in these inflationary times but, as far as product goes, TakaraTomy never seems to disappoint.

I second the motion, I look at most of the Movie transformers and think 'What a mess!' but this one has gorgeous attention to detail.

I love the chrome on Takara's Premium movie Prime. They sure have the best paint apps. And the eye for detail too, esp. what seems to be cybertronian script on the prime's blade. This is truly a premium TF

Instead if buying that, I went and painted my Premium Prime. I may have to file some of the hilt of the sword so that the paint doesn't get scratched off though.

Yuck. Who decided to ruin that figure by putting so much chrome on it?
The bottoms of his feet have chrome? That's certainly not going to wear off or anything!
As well, having the entire foot be chromed, sheesh. Now it looks like Optimus wants to get all dressed up for Prince Charming's ball.

The only thing I like about this figure is the sword addition. Otherwise, chromed feet are bad and hardly practical, and the figure looks a bit plain with the block coloured nose as opposed to the gradiented one that Hasbro used.

Wow. I've pretty much had it with Hasbro. I have nearly every single figure in the line, then premium series comes out. So I get those and now Takara stomps them into the dirt. I'm still getting over how much better the henkei series is (GRIMLOCK!!). Hasbro is just lame.
