His upgrades are the latest figure in the Takara Animated series. We're talking about TA-34 Samurai Prowl, a figure that has gotten into the hands of collector Alfes 2010. Major differences from the Hasbro version is the more dull gold paint, and the red Autobot symbol. Check him out below!

If I can get it on sale, I will grab one.

Another case of negligible difference. If this one gets another J-exclusive repaint into a random color scheme, like some of the recent Elite-Guard ones, I'd be most interested in an orange-ish one resembling the samurai Junkion seen in the background of the movie. But that's probably just me.

Also, are his shuriken going to be removable but non-transforming, like the American release? That's one little improvement they could've made, though I doubt it happened.

They're removeable? With what crowbar did you get them off with?

Hmm...yeah, I didn't remember it being that tough to remove them when I opened him as it was just now. But my thumbnail just barely managed it after a minute. I guess I've just been doing so much amateurish kitbashing lately that anything I don't have to cut gets remembered as "removable". Isn't Samurai Prowl the same mold as the first except for the head and armor though? I can't check to see if the blades are interchangeable at the moment.

Awesome figure, but I'm happy with the one I already have.
