To our US readers, sweets is the British word for candy.
He has also supplied us with a photo of one of the blind-packs:
The Mini-Cons inside of these packs are supposed to have different decoes than their original KMart release, also these blind-packs might be exclusive to the UK as the sweets inside are UK made.
One pack costs GBP 1.99, Wasp-shot23 found his at a Tesco service station.
There are 12 Mini-Cons to collect.
Here are some more images showing the difference between the original and new UK Brimstone:
So, sweets to the sweet!

Going back and reviewing it, I think he said Tesco service stations.
IF these are different, I would appreciate someone in the UK helping me out in obtaining these. I will be more than willing to send some US exclusives your way.

I have the 12-pack, so I didn't buy any and, thus, can't tell you if the actual figures are different.
If they are different, I can imagine it's likely only in the way that some of the 12-pack mini-cons differ from the stock images, like Skyhammer's face:

Ah, thanks. Will check my local Tesco out on the way home. Need to go anyway. I'll pick a few up if I find them.

If anyone can figure out how many are in a case, what the distribution is, and what a full case costs, it may be more economical to ship a case to one of us in the states for redistribution.

Interesting!
Seriously though, I want. Buying sweets and getting a toy. I want.

I have found packets of sweets on sale marked as being under the Universe sub-line containing single repackaged (and mostly redecoed, i think) Woolworth's (UK) / K-mart (US)exclusive mini-cons from the 2009 Universe 12 pack.
All 12 are available; I got Brimstone in a slightly different paint scheme: the mustard yellow is replaced with bright green and the dark green replaced with a lighter shade. this seems contrary to the packaging, which at first glance appears to show all 12 mini-cons in their original paint schemes but on closer inspection does show subtle differences to the original releases.
For those in the UK who are interested, this assortment seems to be UK exclusive as the packet states "confectionery made in the UK" and as far as I know is only available in Tesco service stations (that's where I found mine). The item was priced as £1.99 and contained s handful of sweets as well as the mini-con (I got 4 cola bottles).
(I will post images as soon as I can as the news submission form contains no facility to attach images.)
also the packet shows a 2010 trademark, so it's new.it also says "manufactured by The Little Factory under license from hasbro" does this mean theyre not made by hasbro? there is a hasbro logo on the packet.

i've included a comparison shot with the original 12 pack brimstone. as you can see the yellow's gone and you can just make out the green on thw wings and arms is different. i dont know about any of the other figures being different paint schemes as the package shows them as they were originally.
there is no mold degradation as far as I can tell with this figure. the legs are loose at the knees but otherwise everything's solid. the wings actually appear to have more positive ratcheting (is that what you call it?) / notched jointing than the original but that might be because i've worn mine out, i'm not sure.

I'll be happy to return the favor.

if I get any duplicates, I'll let people know through either the uk sightings forum or here. Pm me if you want them (that's if I get any, I've already got the original 12 pack so there isn't really a reason for me to actively hunt these down.)

There ARE (at least one) confirmed variations.

Same here, I'm totally up for supplying (or swapping for anybody's own spare mini-cons!) if there are any left in my local shop.
The first Brimstone I find is mine though, I love that mould. That reminds me, I'm after Classics Nightscream, and I'll gladly do a swap for one of these new guys!

You don't look in the shop, look in the petrol station. The big shop won't have any as far as I know.

Word. I scoured the place and there was no sign of them but the petrol station outside had them in abundance. Don't know why, don't get it but there it is. This was Tesco Extra in Newport.

I'll edit THIS post with any info we do or don't find. I found contact info for the confectionary company concerned and have emailed them, but have yet to recieve a response.

EDIT: List now complete as of 13thDec2010, with all 12 Mini-Cons found and the variants documented. Thanks go to Wasp-shot 23 for starting the whole hunt off, JGR for his awesome knowledge and keen eye, Mr.O and Phill_D for providing comaparisons and second opinions as needed

Please post here or PM me with your findings, hopfully before long we will have a complete and accurate list. I have included links to TFwiki and TFU, one uses stock photography, the other doesn't. Check your figures agaisnt both and the 12 pack if you have it for a comprehensive comparison.
One thing, were all 12 of these released as single cards? If so is there any chance that the variants have already been released but were dismissed as being simple re-packages and due to low distribution, subsequently flew under the radar of most collectors?
I have been unable to find any decent pictures of the carded versions, maybe a US fan could help us out with that one?
Clarified by JelZe GoldRabbit three posts down, thanks buddy!.
Posted by Pretender Skywarp on December 9th, 2010 @ 3:38am CST
Anyways, hit my local last night and bought three of these. I scored Boltflash, Supressor and Skyhammer.
Skyhammer would appear to be a (albeit slight) variant

See the red paint between the two engines at the rear? That is absent on my 12pk and also on the picture at TFU. Interestingly it is present on the "stock-photography" shown on TFwiki, my reference post reflects this and I have classified it as such.
Mine are still bagged, so MR.O could I trouble you to check the colur of the visor on Boltflash, we could be looking for details that small!

EDIT: Many thanks to Wasp-shot23 for correcting me, mine is misassembled, NOT a variant. I've left the picture in situ for reference. See the TFwiki link above for a view of misassembled stock-photography!

Any and all variants you find post them with pics. That should make it easier for us all to see which ones will be needed for our Mini-Con collecting friends overseas.
Man this is pretty exiting, I'll contact my uncle and ask him to get a couple for me and I'll have a look if I can find them over here, we sometimes get stuff like this at odd little shops.
