Video Review for Transformers RED Cheetor and Arcee

Posted by william-james88 Jan 10, 2021 at 3:15pm CST 31,141 views
The next two figures out in the Transforemrs RED series are Cheetor and Prime Arcee and Prime vs Prime has a review of these two. As you will see from the comparison shots (you can also see screencaps below), there is no attempt at any kind to scale. This is a uniform 6 inch action figure line and that's about it. While the Arcee looks great, the Cheetor leaves a lot to be desired especially with the face. We'll let you all be the judge of that of course, let us know what you think.

And Cheetor's expression...I guess he made that particular face a few times on the show, but a happy, open-mouthed expression would be more appropriate for his character. It kind of looks like his helmet is painfully squishing it, or he's an evil relative of King Zarkon in disguise. Not feeling it, and I could see it shelfwarming bad enough to hurt the prospects of future non-transforming BW figures.

But Action Master Prime Arcee is a big red F-YEAH!

Definitely going for this over Kingdoms. I like how the back piece can be removed so that I can mod it to be set a bit lower. I might even snip the pylon things down a bit too, can't change the face but th easier to do than give Kingdoms/Netflix Cheetor a new everything. He should go okay next to MP Primal too as I'm skipping on Kingdoms Primal until a Burning repaint.

The scale on Arcee is more of a pain but I need a Prime Arcee and it might as well be her though I still might go for one of the old figures at some point too. RED Knockouts a likely purchase as the orig figure is a bit off looking.

They really did not get Cheetor's colors right at all.

Arcee looks good, but again, they didn't get the colors right on her. pretty disappointed by that

I truly think those two are the only ones that are worth of getting from R.E.D.
Are they still store exclusive like OP, Megs and Soundwave?

Can anyone who picked up Megatron kindly fiddle with his mace using it on Siege Megatron...? I would love to get my hands on the one that comes with Centurion but oh well.

But I figure if it can work well somehow then I would pick up RED Megs just for that! :VEHI:

So it looks like Super7 are doing articulated transformers figures in the 7" scale. Pretty much everything RED should've been.

Don't be so sure. I took a look at the teaser image, and their TMNT offering and... not impressed with "highly articulated".

Shouldn't Super7s transform if they really want to be Ultimates? For £50-60 a pop they are going to have to be special and then some. The Thundertank is already the price of more batmobiles than I could fit on a table so I can't see them going the action master route nor people willing to pay the price for them when RED gets looked down on as is.

Hoping RED gets a Dinobot with Kingdoms alt mode being a bit arse.

It's the same company that charges 20 pounds for a tiny figure with 70's articulation. So if you didn't find that worth it, no reason you'd change your mind with the new products.

It's a shame because RED could easily have gone for the action masters with partners route for under £30. I'm not finding the ultimates anything special, I might pick up an occasional TMNT figure (considering muckman or mutagen man at some point) for £50 but it aint going to be the same for their tfs.

There are a bunch of different combinations of size, price point, level of detail, and brand. You can get a 6" Marvel figure for $20 from Hasbro or for $100 from Mexico. You can get a 12" of the same for $10 from Hasbro or for $300 from Hot Toys. There are so many different factors that go into these different product classes that I don't see why Transformers should be any different.

Additionally, though many collectors are fans of an IP franchise first, others collect product brands. I think that's part of the appeal of ubiquitous brands like ReAction and Funko Pop. If you already have Turtles and Thundercats Ultimates, you might want to add a Prime to that shelf.

I get the appeal of some of these. Like, if I didn't already have MP Optimus and Megatron, or ER Optimus and Megatron with the accessories pack, it might be nice to have the R.E.D. versions to stage the battle over the dam. As it is, I like having a ReAction Alpha Trion because it's more faithful to the cartoon than any other representation. I'm not sure if these will last long enough or cover territory that's missing in Generations, but I think there's room for lots of different takes on these characters.

The difference is that RED is trying to go for mainstream appeal. By contrast, the Action Master-original characters are anything but mainstream.

Without the Vehicles, there is no action, no action, no action, no action at all.

Bah, auto-correct! That was supposed to read "Mezco," for their 1:12 Collective product line.

Sightings have been spotty but over the past week or so, more and more are finding the latest toys from the RED series. RED Cheetor and Prime Arcee have been found at Walmarts in the US and Canada where they are just shy of $20 USD and $30 CDN. The Canadian sighting comes from Cybertron.ca and the US sighting was originally reported by Megagalvatron1 who posted the image you'll see below on the TFW2005 boards.

If you find these toys, let fellow fans know in our sightings board.

I was actually quite shocked to see Cheetor today at Walmart (they were randomly in another section, but I put them back with the Transformers, even though they didn't have a dedicated peg). There was also Optimus & Megatron, I guess with only 2 new bots, they may be repacking parts of wave 1 also. Wave 1 I only saw a couple times. It may be a good/bad thing. Even though the quality of these toys isn't great, I guess the low production run of each will meet the smaller demand, so its not like these hang around for months not selling.
