Amazon Japan has a first look at what may be Henkei Ratchet.

The question remains though, if this is Henkei Ratchet, where is the chrome and why is the deco more akin to the modernized decos Hasbro has applied to the Classics/Universe line?

I'm gonna guess that this is the Hasbro version, for 3 reasons.

First the light bar is the same style as Universe Prowl, not Henkei Prowl.

Second, the white plastic and white paint differ so much in shade as compared to the rest of the current Henkei releases. However it is similar to the difference in paint common to Hasbro releases.

Third, the lights seem to be made with the same blue shaded plastic that Universe Ironhide had, not the Henkei release.

I may be wrong, but thats just what I think. I'm buying it either way. Great find Counterpunch.

Oh and it has Allspark blue windows

Cool

I would have preferred a gray head crest but Ratchet's head always did vary in colour from place to place. Anyway, I've been looking forward to having a decent Ratchet figure almost as much as Ironhide, can't wait to see official photos of this (and whatever Henkei has to offer, assuming this is actually Hasbro's)

That looks more like a Hasbro to me. I like it. It's about time we get a Ratchet that looks G1. I bought the Animated, but I don't think it really does him justice.

Black lower arms and black upper legs. Yup, it's a Hasbro testshot. Same colors as Universe Ironhide.

A Henkei version would have light gray upper legs (like Henkei Ironhide), and white lower arms in order to be show-acurate. Headcrest would have been dark gray as well, and he would have chrome details on the lamps and grille. Remember, with Hound, Cyclonus and a lot of others that are coming out in 2009 Takara also showed the Universe versions as a solicitation image...

Besides, the random red lines on the carmode have nothing to do with G1 Ratchet, so Takara would never do them.

This looks good. Thanks for finding it. Finally a Ratchet worthy of the name.

Me likes. It would have made more sense if Ratchet didn't have windows on his sides at all though, and it would have looked better. Plus I'm a little bummed that he doesn't have a red helmet with a black crest, since his comics incarnations have always been so much more badass. Still, I will buy this, mold problems or no.

I'm not too big on the vehicle mode but the robot mode looks spot on. I like it. I think it's a Hasbro product or test shot too, but it looks pretty cool. Now let's just see what the actual Henkei one looks like.

I'm more curious as to whether or not there will be any weapon remolds or changes. The colors and head molds will almost always be a little off, but I can't see Ratchet sitting on my shelf with the gatling gun or knife extention gimmick that Ironhide has.

Part of me hopes it does... that way my Ironhide gets two gatling guns...

Dear Primus, that is ugly! I agree with a lot of the folks who have already hypothesized that this is a Hasbro test shot.

If this is what we get for Ratchet, I'll definately be doing some custom paint work on him.
